Should be called Old Fashion Pancakes
This should have been called Old Fashion Pancakes, Lol. The best thing about this drama is definitely the dialogue, it was different than what you normally get in other BLs, I really enjoyed their flirty convos, it felt fresh and refreshing. This drama was way too short and had some scenes that could have been cut out to show us more of the main characters, this series started with so much angst and tension but it was just killed off midway instead of transitioning into proper romance after self discovery and self acceptance. I have had this on my list for awhile, I’m glad I finally watched it but it’s not something I would rewatch as I feel I didn’t get any pay off from all those angst.

Ok
I watched Manner of Death after watching this series and lemme tell you to say that the improvement in the acting department is tremendous is an understatement especially on the part of Max because i felt like he couldn’t act very well in this series as he had exactly one facial expression for every scene in this series, i didn’t even realize they were the same people who acted Together With Me when I was watching Manner of Death, that’s how good, different and significantly improved they were in the later. Now back to the review, the nerve of Knock to be annoyed/furious at Pleng and crying that she kissed another guy is beyond ridiculous especially since he has not only kissed someone else but slept with someone else twice and even has feelings for said someone else.
As for Pleng, I’m sorry her story arc is beyond unbelievable, the extent to which she went is super unrealistic for a relationship that is not even up to 3months. Both Pleng and Knock were acting like it was a super long term relationship that they had and are trying to save it and make work by any means necessary. Puhhhhh-leassssseeee. I think the whole Knock, Pleng and Korn triangle took way to long to resolve and I was just over it. I didn’t like Pleng but I loved her outfits, they were so good but it felt completely out of place with the overall vibe of the series and other cast members outfits.
I liked Yiwha because she was very good to her friends and sussed out Pleng right from the beginning.
I have no problem with teacher/student relationship regardless of the age difference as long as they are both of legal adult age and consenting but there was zero chemistry between Phu and Kavitra, their attempt at romance was just so awkward and made it painful to watch as a viewer.
The acting in this series is not the best IMO but it’s not the worst either, the plot is not realistic also IMO but it’s not unwatchable either too. Overall it’s a decent series just not anything groundbreaking.
PS: the best line from this series is definitely when Korn asked Knock in ep12 “Are You Stupid Because of Love or Just Born Stupid”?

Lacked fire
This was a fluffy romcom that wanted to add a bit of tension with the whole dead friend/sister arc and IMO it wasn’t successful. I wish they had kept it as just a romcom and not overdone the whole dead girl Su Tian angle. It became way too much for a girl that both boys barely knew in the real sense of the word. The nerve of that man child to just barge into her hotel room and accuse her of murdering his sister without having any evidence and she had to leave her child to go investigate and clear her name and was able to find someone to collaborate her story but if there was no other person on that bus that saw what happened they both would have branded her a murderer but oh wait since they have all cleared up this tiny little misunderstanding *insert sarcasm* why don’t she become his sister so he can stop being so sad. Puhhhhhh-lease. I don’t know how realistic this would happen IRL but I sure as hell know it wouldn’t happen with me. And Boy GTFOH. She’s very nice because best believe I wouldn’t be so nice and tolerating after he accused me of a whole ass murder, grief or not, best friend’s boyfriend or not, much less offering to be his sister. Smh
The extreme level of bashing and vitriol that was directed at the FL in the VIKI comment section where I watched the drama, was seriously telling of the amount of vile/hateful/idiotic arrogant judgmental pricks we have in the world. Every time on social media we read about people killing themselves because of hateful comments. People will then flood social media like justice warriors with their faux outrage and things like #StopHate #SpreadLoveAndNotHate #BeTheChangeYouWantToSee #MeTooMovement #WomenSupportingWomen and all the other buzz word worthy slogans and hashtags will start trending, which sound all nice and good but in reality are not practiced by a lot of those who preach it. When they get on an anonymous sites, then they spew their hateful vitriol because no one will know it’s them. Know the kind of thoughts and words, the people who you associate yourself with utter on certain and especially important conversations/topics. Be intentional with the kind of individuals you surround yourself with. We really do need to do better as a society. #BeWise & #BeGuided.
I knew I deviated from the review but that level of hate and insults towards the FL in the comments was just beyond intolerable.
It was a nice romcom and that little kid was so damn adorable. The romance was cute and all but it lacked fire and it was surprising considering they have done a drama together before. Maybe it’s the director, who knows.

Solid Romcom
When you know someone’s weakness, short comings, flaws and all and still accept them for all that, that was Kim Mi So towards Lee Young Joon aka Vice President in this drama. He was a narcissistic character but he wasn’t a bad person. He was adverse to being touched and while we got to know the reason for it, it didn’t excuse some of his narcissism.Mr Aura-ous Vice President. The way he says that aura was always so cringe on so many levels but it was also funny and adorable at the same time.
I loved their relationship so much and boy did they have steaming chemistry.
Kim Mi So: I am not going home tonight, I’m not going to go home, I’m going to stay by your side thought out the whole night
Vice President: If you come into my house like this, I wont be able to control my pace tonight, tonight I don’t plan on stopping.
That exchange and what came (pun intended) after was so hawt and sexy, damn chills.
This was the series that made me a fan of both Park Ming Young and Park Seo Joon.

My Go to
I am completely and irrevocably in love and obsessed with this series. I have watched it so many times, I have lost count and I’m still going to keep watching it over and over again. I cannot even put into words how much I love this series. Lu Si Cheng aka Chessman and Tong Yao aka Smiling will always have my heart. God Ming also stole my heart. My one complain and honestly I was super infuriated with that scene is how Lu Si Cheng treated Tong Yao when the got back to their base after her scuffle with an opposing team member, he “punished” her to stand outside until she acknowledges her mistake, that was wrong on all levels and honestly left a very bad and sour taste in my mouth. It’s very prevalent in CDramas to make the ML treat the FL as if he is her lord and master and they even go as far as making the ML punish her like a child or threaten the FL with punishment if he feels she has aired, this troupe is absolutely ridiculous and infuriates me so badly as the FLs are grown ass women and are not the properties of these MLs, they thereby don’t need any lessons taught via punishment to them. Writers and directors need to do better on the portrayals and treatment of not just their FLs but also their female characters.
Let me tell you I have watched a whole lot of shows over the last 3years I started watching Asian shows and my top4 is still in no particular order, Falling into your smile, Word of honor, Vincenzo and Who Rules The World.
I don’t know if the feeling I was trying to portray came through enough with the above write up but I will reemphasis, I am absolutely crazy about this show with the exception of that scene stated above. Wish I could give it more than 10 stars.
Bravo cast and crew. Bravo indeed
Rewatch value is obviously 10/10 (I have rewatched so many times and will keep rewatching)

My best CDrama couple
I just read a review where the reviewer was complaining bitterly about the amount of product placement. I totally get it and while I wasn’t as pissed off about the product placement issue like said reviewer was I do understand their frustration. My frustration was with the second couple. I actually liked Zuo Yulin aka FiveThree and Qin Qing as a stand alone character without their romance. FiveThree was smart, nice and loyal. While Qin Qing was annoying most of the time and took her bestie role way too far sometimes she was supremely loyal to Zhou Fang and I can appreciate that. But they spent so much time on the second leads relationship and drama sometimes, it felt like they were the leads, if they had significantly reduced their screen time I believe this would have had better reviews.
Then why the 10/10 everything, the love I have for Zhou Fang and Song Lin runs very deep. They are my favorite CDrama couple of all time.
That accident rain scene, OMG, it gave me chills and goosebumps. I have watched a lot of CDramas that have good chemistry and whatnot but most of them felt like acting which wasn’t a bad thing because they are indeed acting and most of them acted super well but here it didn’t feel like acting at all between Zhou Fang and Song Lin, it felt so real, the way it felt so real and not acting made me believe that the rumors of Johnny and Dilraba dating might just be true.
Song Lin’s sister Song Luo was my favorite character after my couple. They started her off with the typical annoying teenager troupe (but it was a bit understandable because of what she has gone through) but boy did she become so adorable. I absolutely loved her.
Rewatch value is 10/10 (I have rewatched so many times and will keep rewatching) but every time I rewatch I skip all the parts of Qin Qing and FiveThrees relationship.
The second lead couple dragged down this series so badly but i will still rate it the highest because it’s my go to romance series.

To My Star Season 2: Our Untold Stories

Kang SeoJun has my heart
This season absolutely broke my heart. I can’t even describe the level at which I love Kang. He’s so pure, open, honest and good. He deserved so much more in my opinion and I don’t think Han Ji Woo deserved him at all but that’s the funny thing about love, everyone has their opinions looking from the outside but only the two people involved in the relationship know how they are feeling and why it’s that one person that makes them feel all the goody butterfly feelings, even though other people looking in from the outside can’t really understand it.Was this review helpful to you?

Kang SeoJun has my heart
This is absolutely one of my favorite BL drama of all time. I didn’t know who Son Woo-Hyun before this drama but he has absolutely made me a big fan. The way he was able to emote different feelings was breathtaking, I actually believed he was in love with Kim Kang-Min in real life. When you know an actor did their job right, is when you forget what you are watching is actually scripted and not real life. And also when you absolutely hate/love a character that also shows that the actor/actress did their job perfectly. In this case Son Woo did his job to perfection. I have watched 3times already and will be watching many more times in the futureI loved the way he treated people. I hope he’s like he’s character in real life. Genuine, open and honest.

Heart fluttering goodness
This series just felt sooooooo good to the heart. It’s one of those fluffy that was just the right amount. We still got a lot of the Korean BL troupes in this but they avoided one major one and that’s what made it great. It really gave me all the right feels and boy was our couple really adorable. I absolutely loved both of them but I especially adored Shin Ki Tae, he’s honesty and openness was what endeared him to me. Plus he’s really so handsome.
Overall a fast watch that was delectable and heart fluttering.

I don’t get the rave reviews
Saying that watching this series was such a massive waste of time is such an understatement. If you are considering watching the series and you read this comment I seriously implore you to NOT WATCH this. This is officially the worst bl series I have ever watched. And I have watched a lot. If you are looking for a romantic series that the relationship progresses this is definitely not it. But if you are looking for a series that they stare at each other stupidly like that’s supposed to be hot. It was cute and all the first few episodes but it just became stupid and silly with no progression. Then also one of the main lead tian cries every episode sometimes for silly reasons, if you still want to proceed and watch then by all means go ahead, have at it.The character Tian had one resting crying face throughout the series and the other one Phu had one smirk/smug resting face too. You are mad at your parents for saving your life and telling you what to do but you are so in love with Phu who also tells you what to do.
Yeah right.
To say I’m so mad that I watched this series in its entirety is once again an understatement.
I fast forwarded 75% of the time from episode 7. That’s how I managed to get through this.
I highly DO NOT RECOMMEND

Oh what could have been but was not
I completely and totally enjoyed this drama the first half of the drama, but after ep 18 the drama just went downhill for me, the plot and acting in the drama that started out so strong just went downhill, it was astonishing how bad it got especially in the acting department after ep18.I am not surprised the rating keeps dropping because a drama that could have really been so great was butchered half way in.
Overall it was an ok watch but it’s not something I would rewatch.

Word of Honor better IMO
To say Lan Zhan was such a boring character is such an understatement. Lucky enough the character Wei Wuxian more than made up for it. Even the villains were good. On further thought Lan Zhan’s brother was always boring. I did read the novel after watching the series and I must admit that Wang Yibo portrayed that character to perfection but I didn’t like the character in the series and that was due to censorship. Because the parts the character came to life couldn’t be shown due to censorship. Overall the series was good. Was this review helpful to you?

Not for me.
Like some people pointed out, this drama looks like it’s target audience are the much younger generation, not to say that no older person will watch it, but this is geared towards the younger demographics and if we were to take a surgery i am quite sure it will reveal that majority of the watchers are indeed of the younger demographic. It wasn’t bad. It was fluffy but the plot was basically recycled every episode and I agree with someone’s comment it was so boring I had to hype myself and try to convince myself that this was good or going to get better. It just didn’t for me. Seeing how this has good reviews, I have concluded that it’s just not my cup of tea.
This is a drop for me @ ep6

Load of crap
I am so mad @ this series. I’m absolutely infuriated. To say some of the things that has happened before I dropped this crap, is a load of nonsense rubbish garbage is putting it mildly.Firstly, This turned from a marriage contract to a slave contract.
First it was agreed that she would have her own private room but low and behold that didn’t happen, not only did she not get a room, she is get to choose between a closet or sofa. Two (2) very uncomfortable places to sleep while he gets to sleep on a big soft bed. And she’s mandated to read to him every night. I’m getting madder as I am typing this.
Secondly, they agreed not to meddle in each others lives but he has been meddling in hers constantly. A girl confessed to you that she likes you and said girl has had a run in with you “wife” in your presence and you know it wasn’t pleasant, then what do you proceed to do, you bring said girl to your home. He proceeds to command the wife in an authoritative master/servant relationship to go and get him water to drink and she obediently stands up to go do her master’s bidding but then gets stopped by the woman who was brought to the house, with the announcement that she’s in love with her husband. Said husband proceeds to get angry that the wife is not jealous.
Thirdly and the most infuriating of all. He literally tells her what to do. Come here, sit here, she literally obeys every command of his and walks meekly with him, she is sassy but her sassiness is fleeting, one minute you will think she’s about to stand up to him, next minute she’s apologizing and doing exactly what he wants. He literally threw her iPad in the water and destroyed the hard work she put in just because he was jealous, and surprise surprise she ended up apologizing to him in that scene. Gosh I am so mad. The scenes that broke the camels back for me was when he gave her the Italy materials to learn and was quizzing her on how to pronounce the words, he held a whip, granted he didn’t whip her but the fact that he held that whip was so wrong on all levels and I was not there for that at all, then after making the girl that confessed to him teach his wife etiquette lessons, she got bruises on her feet, then got sent home and told to write something 100times likes she’s a little kid.
None of what this guy did to this girl in this series is remotely acceptable IMO and I’m so disappointed that more people aren’t calling out this load of BS
But wait all this is all ok somehow because wait for it…. He’s falling in love with her hence all this emotional and implied physical abuse is cute.
I am so freaking mad with this BS. I can’t remember the last time I was this mad at anything much less a tv series.
I fucking dropped this piece of shitty crap @ ep10
1/10 because I can’t give it 0/10

The romance took a while to start but that’s on par with how almost every CDrama with 40+eps go, so I kinda was not surprised about that, normally I’m against FLs forgiving MLs for lying to them, but I’m ok with how this went and it wasn’t an instant or fast forgiveness, it took time and reflection which I liked.
The reason why I wanted to reduce my rating was cos of the 2nd couple, I won’t even go into the 3rd couple cos I ⏩ all their scenes as I could care less about them, no offense 2 them (BTW I liked his mom), anyways I agree with LiLi not ending up with Xiao but her ending up with that man child (no matter how they tried to dress him up in the later part of the drama to look matured, it just wasn’t working cos he still looked like a kid) IMO is such an insult to her character, first cos she said no several times but apparently no ain’t no, 2ndly there was zero physical chemistry between them but they just made her settle for him cos they were so hell bent on going the nice guy don’t finish last route to make so kind of statement that IMO failed so miserably, I’m so pissed actually about how that storyline ended.
Anyways overall I do recommend.
