I just felt like he was so overwhelmed by that huge sign of caring/love. He had no idea of course that she had done that, but imo if he had he may have gone about things so much differently. I truly just think RH loved her the most in his life (with the lord exception of CH). I personally didn’t feel it was romantic. It was heartbreaking asf
