This is great! I translated it on Google from Korean to English. To explain to our group what is this about. that there are 3 waves in watching Korean dramas. Currently there is a 3rd wave in watching Korean drams, the streaming. And the previous, 2nd wave and the current 3rd wave belong to KSH. Way to go! The translation is as follows : "The'Third Wave of the Korean Wave' is starting with the competition of online video streaming services such as Netflix (OTT). We need to pay attention to content and entertainment companies." On the 28th, sponsored by Maeil Economic Daily and sponsored by the Korea Financial Investment Association, Korea Investment & Securities held a re-tech concert on YouTube through the theme of'What is the era of Untact, the third Korean wave interlocked content company?'
"The Corona 19 has exponentially increased OTT users such as Netflix and Watcher," said Tae-Owan Oh, senior researcher at Korea Investment & Securities. Insisted. This is because competitive content in OTT, especially the most popular content in the Chinese, Japanese, and Southeast Asian markets is Korean dramas.
Netflix, the representative of OTT, acquired a 5% stake in Studio Dragon owned by CJ ENM last November. It was a strategic investment to secure Korean drama content. Netflix and Studio Dragon have agreed to produce 21 content, including Netflix original content, for three years through 2022. Netflix has also signed a drama production contract with Jay Content.
Netflix is expanding its investment in Korea because it believes that securing Korean content is essential to catching the Asian market.
Content competition is rising and subscription fees are falling as competitions such as Netflix, Disney Plus, and Apple TV intensify. An increase in the number of subscribers is necessary to continue OTT operators' profit growth. However, the increase in the number of subscribers in the North American and European markets has reached a plateau. Therefore, Asia has the greatest potential. In particular, Southeast Asia has a large population, but the OTT penetration rate is only 5%.
In addition, the content price is skyrocketing as competition among OTT operators is intensifying. In the U.S., major content prices in 2020 have more than tripled in 2015. Researcher Oh said, "If Studio Dragon is currently broadcasting the drama'Psycho but it's okay', the production cost is 20 billion won, and Netflix gives 60% of this, 12 billion won." Aichi, an OTT operator in Greater China, is servicing the drama'Convenience Store Saetbyeol' in Southeast Asia. Despite being unable to service mainland China, it is receiving between 4 and 5 billion won per flight.
Researcher Oh said, "Only OTT's well-made dramas attract people, so even if Korean content is expensive, they have no choice but to live." From the second half of the year, there may be a movement to secure Korean content."
The possibility of China's cancellation of the Korean Peninsula is also cited as a reason to look at Korean Wave content and entertainment companies again. China's second largest e-commerce company, Jingdong.com, participated in the drama aired earlier this year as a PPL company. Even if it cannot be exported to China under Hanhanryeong, it is an investment. This is a proof that Chinese companies are also looking at the possibility of lifting the Korean Peninsula. "If the Japanese airing of'Winter Sonata' was the first wave of Hallyu, and the Chinese syndrome of "You from the Star" was the second wave of Hallyu, OTT competition would bring the third wave of Hallyu," said Korea. "It will be a clear value-up opportunity for content companies."
This will be downvoted lol but am I the only one who isn't feeling this drama that much? Here on mdl it's already…
Nobody is going to trash you and others for expressing your opinion. And nobody is forcing themsleves to rate this show. They rate it because they love it. In my opinion for these who are saying that the some episodes are fillers and are so slow, I would like to remind you that it is not rom-com where the romance is on the center stage. There are so many complex things going on, so many life lessons that are given to us slowly. I know that many fans came to watch this drama because of KSH expecting their "oppa" and who are dissapointed seeing completely different KSH , the mature version. So yes, this drama is not for everone . Everyone is entitled to their opinion and disappointment. But keep in mind that probably in the future, KSH work won't be the "oppa" dramas.
This show is amazing. Great storyline, amazing acting, beautiful music. And the best chemistry between the main leads. It has everyting and more. It raised the bar very high. So yes, definitely is worth watching.
I am happy to see how this drama is openning doors to the real life healing. This show created a great community. On one side more and more people are openning and sharing their mental health problems and on the other side people who want to help them, in many shape and forms. This is so great!
There are many rampant theories everywhere. And others are taking it for a certainty. I only know one, that they are playing with us. We will get a big suprise for sure. And also remeber how other characters were played in the past episodes. Ju-ri- I hated her and was also I was suspicious of her in the beginning. Now- I love her. She is sweet and cute. GT mother- first cold and uncaring. Later we found out, that she really loved GT. Even CEO- first cold and money grabbing. Now- a warmer, caring person. So what about Nurse Park then? Will we have a change of heart for her. Right now she is a suspicious person. What kind of person she will be later? I think that again we will get a nice surprise. So be patent and wait for everyting to unfold. I am sure it would be an exciting ride.
The other thing is THAT KISS. So many complains about BTS video. That THAT scene was not included. I am happy that it was not included. This scene is so intimate that it would be like looking into their bedroom. They gave us a great scene and how they came into that should be left with them. I would like prying into their personal life. I read a great comment on the web. That to create such an intimate and great scene they both ALLOWED to cross the line between acting and their personal life. This is why this scene came so real, so true. So giving us the BTS of that scene would be like sharing a piece of their souls which should be left sacred.
