Terrible kdrama writers have a career because of the 9/10 stars

Disclaimer: very long. Read the conclusion if you don't want to read this all.

WTPR is only popular because YYS and CSB are extremely attractive. The plot/direction has NOTHING to do with it. It makes me angry because YYS and CSB are using their beautiful faces to make this trainwreck of a show watchable and people are giving credit to the showmakers.

I understand that little suspense of disbelief is the basis on which kdramas are made. But this show expects its viewers to throw all logic and sense out of their heads to tolerate watching.

For the unknowing, the main premise is that a couple who married for convenience starts to communicate and fall in love when the wife is kidnapped and the husband gets threatening calls.

Characters:
The FL is a vessel filled with nothing. She has no motivation (apart from divorce at the start), and no drive. Everything she does is as it suits the plot. Her character and reasons change as the circumstances change. She hates the ML (1-4), then falls in love with him (4-11), and then forgives him (12) as it is appropriate for the episode pacing. Truly a go-with-the-flow kind of gal that the ML enjoys bossing and controlling. Her entire personality is loving the ML. The fact that she is so good at sign language (beyond what's needed for her to communicate) is also because she wants to work alongside her husband.

The ML has a rod stuck up his ass. He cannot communicate. He treats the FL (who he says he loves) very poorly. He doesn't even bother to learn sign language knowing full well she doesn't talk. And when he decides to change and we as viewers begin to root for him to be with the FL, in ep 12 start he again goes back to his asshole selfish behaviour and ghosts the FL for 6+ months not letting her know if he's alive or dead. So basically his overall growth is NIL. The only saving grace is he's played by YYS.

But the worst is the plot. Filled with holes and unnecessary confusion. Some illogical things that happen:
1) FL gets the kidnapper's hacked phone and uses it to threaten her husband anonymously but has no clue/ thought as to how she's going to proceed. Some of the things she says and does are so embarrassing and reveal her identity, it's a mystery how supersmart-reporter-turned-presidential-spokesperson BSO doesn't put two and two together quicker. Even when the clues are glaring the viewers and the characters in the face they don't pick up on them -and if they do, they misinterpret.
2) The spokesperson staff all go on a retreat and the ML is full on goo-goo eyeing the FL and people are okay with it? nay, encouraging it? Knowing that he's married but not knowing to whom? were these people seriously rooting for infidelity?
3) Also, she was kidnapped and held hostage in a car that was hacked multiple times AND which continues to be a hackable car and yet she continues to travel by it. No self-preservation bone in her body whatsoever.
4) The "bodyguards" (in quotes because they're USELESS) who make a cameo in one ep are only there so that the plot can have the ML find out about the SML.
5) There's a bomb that's blown in the ML's office and there's a huge fire and no one is seriously injured. Not even the person holding the bomb. The ML is seen to be in a hospital with an IV line which he pulls at without any bleeding. The reason we all collectively ignored this then was because immediately after that scene the ML had lifted the FL and made her sit on the counter and we were freaking over that. Sigh.
6) The FL is pushed off a cliff (that has a guard rail btw) from the front and she doesn't see who it is. Like even when she's falling and this person is peering down at her she doesn't know who pushed her? She doesn't have any memory loss either and her eyes are wide open when she's pushed so idk how she didn't see. Viewers figured out who pushed her from a small glimpse of his arm.
7) Other things she doesn't have after this massive FALL from a CLIFF is any sort of injury. No broken or sprained bones. No bruises/ scratches/ major/ minor bleeding nothing. I bump my leg too hard on a table and I'm limping for half a day. But this lady is walking and moving perfectly fine.
8) Then when she's in the hospital and gets a threatening call and has a panic attack (very naturally), the ML comforts her (again naturally) BUT then this same man asks her to go on a ramble around the city to meet him as if a kidnapper/ murderer is not on the loose targeting his wife.
9) to top it off, this man asks her to relive a memory from her childhood accident (that is extremely traumatic for her) not knowing (because he doesn't know anything about her) if it will trigger her or anything. But of course, because the FL is an empty vessel with no personality whatsoever she is okay with this.
10) Also, somehow he's got the Namsan tower to open in the middle of the night? And all the other amusement park employees too. And then after they kiss, they go home???? Instead of back to the hospital?
11) The ML for all his talk about how he's going to protect the FL allows her to be abducted from the memorial service. Which logistically confuses me, but I'll forgive.
12) The FL after being abducted, held at knifepoint, getting into a car crash and having a head injury, being locked up, starving for at least 4 days, and falling from a 2-meter height manages to RUN (I wanna know her exercise routine). And then KNOWING that the kidnapper is behind her with a gun meets the ML and hugs him instead of running the f out of there.
13) Then when they're driving back WITHOUT a police escort even when everyone knows the kidnapper is armed and in the vicinity, the ML gets out of the car to confront the kidnapper who has a GUN (looks to be a shotgun but idk) instead of idk knocking him/swerving from the side with the car???? and getting the FL to the hospital.
14) Also, did the ML get shot or not? Because wtf was the transition after that scene? The scene ends with the FL crying next to a ML who's been shot at. The next scene is 6 months later wherein we find that
15) the ML decided to go to a made-up war-torn country instead of building and fixing his marriage to the FL to 'punish himself' because he found out that his adopted granddad/ bio dad caused the FL's accident and he feels guilty for some reason. Even though he hates his family and the FL loves him and doesn't blame him at all (obviously).
16) The FL decides to follow him (in a full on holiday outfit-including a scarf) to that country and when she's in the middle of the jungle? idk how she gets there, she gets abducted (yes again) by masked terrorists and somehow the ML magically saves her. How does he know she's here? How does he know anything? And why is this man an anti-terrorist military personnel? I get that SK has mandatory conscription but wasn't his previous job as a reporter??
17) And then despite being in the middle of a jungle occupied by terrorists the ML and FL have a loud argument and makeout session.
18) The FL accuses the ML of punishing her by fucking off to this random country without telling her if he's dead or alive or what and the ML gaslights her and says "It's a punishment to him to not be near her" WTF. He also tells her that he would've come to her and that he'd told her to stay and not do anything. So this man expects her to be his puppet even till the last ep. All progress down the drain.
19) Then somehow they have sex in a hut that's on the coast?? Like what is the geography of this place? and where did the militants go?
20) The reference to the two made up countries. What was the need??

And then they live happily every after (though I doubt for long. The ML decides to work as a hostage negotiator so he's going to do a dangerous job and we all know how these jobs work in kdrama land)

The SLs have good chemistry and are overall a healthier, happier, more well suited couple than the main leads but they're given very little screen time and 90% of their romantic story develops offscreen.

Conclusion: don't watch this mess instead watch FMV about their story/ chemistry. The visuals are the best part.
