They do happen before that in 1930s. It's a sequel to Mystic nine 2016 but prequel to the other Tomb Raiders shows with Wu Xie and all that since it shows their ancestors. Wu Lao Gou is an ancestor of Wu Xie.

It's probably 1933 if we go by the Japanese invasion and all that. The first season was Zhang Qi Shan pushing out the Japanese from Changxia around 1931 so it's likely 2-3 years after that
