I also think Ken did have a loved one, either they betrayed ken somehow or they died or ken lost control and did something bad to them. Either way,they left a scar big enough for ken to try kill himself so many times.
And now James was invading his heart again,maybe he is that past loved one who was reborn or maybe someone new entirely or maybe the past loved one of ken wasn't truly his beloved. Who knows.
For one fact I do know is that,ken is not entirely in love with James yet,maybe 40/50 percent,but he realised he will fall for this James guy miserably. That's why he tried moving away. A person who wants to constantly die doesn't love himself,and a person who doesn't love himself can never have good thoughts about himself,so ken probably also thinks himself unworthy of James.

I think Ken is atleast 40/50 percent in love,he hasn't fallen for James entirely yet but he has realised that he will fall for him miserably. So he wanted to spare James the heartache.and today's episode hinted at his past tragic love life,so if that hint is correct,then it will make more sense that he got scared.

The casting director deserves a group hug from all of us,they chose the perfect ones. Their eye actings are top notch,and the yearning, chef's kiss.
And I think they fast paced this ep a bit, it's understandable though,since it's just 10 episodes. But I didn't find it edgy or odd,I paid attention very closely and everything clicked.maybe it's just me or maybe not. I am just too much in love with this show.

Clearly someone in power closed the case,so they didn't bother much(just careless) or maybe not.

But James is probably 50/60 percent in love,he is also confused about the push and pull . And no matter how stable he looks,he has lost his father brutally, man's mental health isn't great to begin with,so it makes sense he will get attached and behave like that.

And when the girl said something about him losing a loved one,I think that triggered Ken's reaction,he hasn't completely fallen in love yet,maybe 40/50 percent,but he realised he will fall badly,and since he is an immortal there's no way he didn't have even one romantic encounter in the past. Maybe he lost them and that's why he wants to die.

There are two explanations:
1. NOURS or supernatural beings have that rainbow type of aura.
2.James saw that aura the day his father died.

Now it can be either of them or both. That explains why he left the car in haste.

Ken didn't cross the line first,I mean he did but it was either instinct or impulse. By the time he realised what happened,he was already doing the deed and he actually do have a soft corner for James.
