According to a bts costume production, they based the designs on tang, waring states period, sui, and song dynasty. But the drama's costume and setting has a stronger connection to song dynasty. From hairstyle (maid's two buns, big hair bun, unisex usage of fake flowers on headwear), color scheme, and traditional costume (pearls) and even form of currency; it stayed close to aspects of Song Dynasty. More so, it is to be taken note that the incense culture was at its peak during the song dynasty, same as what the drama's setting portrays.

It is actually no stranger in chinese production to "reuse" newly finished drama's production setting and costume. This could also be the case for these two drama. For example actor Xiang Xia was in both dramas and you can see that the costume he had in the last parts of Hilarious Family was eerily the same with his costume in the first episodes of the drama.

I beg to differ tho. You'd expect the costume to be in flare beauty with beads and long gowns but this is the most- if the not most- the beautiful attires for song dynasty. Their costume were done in delicate detail in congruent to the Song era

No. It's a Song Dynasty, the famous fashion statement at that time were wearing fake flowers for female and even for male. Another to take note of is the incense-burning culture: this was rampant during the song dynasty.

Yeah...But good thing now they changed the poster. 10 months ago the poster was horrendous tho. It was like a poster of a pirated show.🤣

The flow of the plot and its reasoning were unique and interesting; and the actors' good portrayal of their character were excellent. Love this Drama❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I agree with you. Actually, I have visited this drama page long before ..... it was suppose to be a 1 season drama and was before named "The cold Palace" there's was a note that it would be a 24 episode drama that would premier at MANGO TV.....I think this was suppose to be shown in mango tv but was dropped and was given to WE TV for full rights on publication....and so this We TV seemed to have divided the drama into 3 seasons.....this seems to be their way to gain more profit
