Can Bitch x Rich 2 live up to the hype of Bitch x Rich1?
Haiya, from Episode 1, I already had a hunch that the script would feel rushed lol. Even the intro seemed unclear and too abrupt—maybe writer is still riding the high from BxR1’s success?Imo, BxR1 had a much better script in terms of execution—it felt fresh, engaging, and kept you curious in every episode. This one? It’s like they forced the script out. By Episode 2, I was even more confused, especially with how they introduced the characters. Like, who’s this? Who’s that? It’s all so sudden. (BTW, you have to watch Season 1 to understand this) Even the conflict setup feels rushed, aigoo… so the climax later might be messy. And yes, I was true.
After watching episodes 3 to 10, I only kept watching to see how it would end. I couldn’t fully enjoy most episodes—partly because the acting was just ... huft. I wouldn’t say it’s terrible, but it feels like their skills need more sharpening. The movements, flat vocal, lifeless eyes expressions, or when they’re angry, it’s just loud yelling with no real emotion. Even the ending was kinda cringe. They had 10 episodes, but with an ending like this, they could’ve wrapped it up in 5 :) honestly, I didn’t feel any tension at all.
Huft ... and the story really dissapointed me when the acting has actually improved! Though, to me, Yeri still has a lot to learn lol—fighting, Yeri! Minkyu’s here too, and his acting’s felt decent here. Still a bit stiff, though—wonder if it’s the director or just the actor? Idk. Oh, can we take a moment to praise Min Yul-hee’s acting here? She delivered such a great performance. I looked up her filmography, and wow—she hasn’t been in many dramas, but her acting is the crispiest in this series. I love how she portrays her character. Honestly, even the MC got outshone by Yul-hee’s acting, imho. As for Hye-in... I realize I haven’t talked about her yet here, but honestly, I’m not even sure what to say about her. She didn’t leave much of an impression, good or bad. This drama feels like it was made specifically for Yeri not her :)
Still, thanks to Kim Hae-in, Min Yul-hee, Lee Sarang, and Yeri’s sweet smile—they’re the ones who kept me going till episode 10. Yeri, hope you’ll deliver even better acting in your next project! You’ve got potential, fighting! As for Minkyu… I might need to check out his other dramas. I feel like he’s an actor who grows with each episode. I noticed him improving bit by bit in certain scenes.
EDITING IS PRETTY SOLID NOW. CINEMATOGRAPHY’S ALSO DECENT—NO MORE NOISE LIKE SEASON 1 LOL, AND THE COLOR GRADING LOOKS GOOD. PROPS TO THE ART TEAM FOR THIS! (Though some transitions still feel awkward to watch.)
