Title The Bangkok Boy
Finished and it was awesome. Thoroughly recommend.
And for people considering watching this show it was really well wrapped up. There were a few really good “no waaaaayyyyy” moments, but all ended well and happily but with a really good link into a series 2 if we are lucky enough and if we aren’t it’s still really good. Congratulations to all involved!!!

Title The Bangkok Boy
On episode 11 but I don’t understand the low review here when payback, ash etc are getting higher. So far this is as good or better than current action/rl bls airing (ie not just romance) and also as good as Not Me. This is a great show so far and I’m getting nervous about what will happen in the final episodes wondering if that’s what dropped the rating. Fingers crossed.

lol not sure if it is a type but the novel explained a little about how aspects in the story fit into china at the time. Why characters behaved in a certain way.

I am at ep 4 and what with the soup men!! How many times and how many types soup he goona make for him...ATP it…
The soup bei lu Qing liked came from a different region and took hours to make. Auntie Lin’s soups weren’t cooked that way. Xiao Fan found out that BLQ liked it, learnt it and cooked it for him while everyone else wanted his money/knowledge/contacts. So the soup was a deep connection for them. But you get more of that from the novel.

(Do you really have the book? I'm searching for it but I cannot find it)
Its translated title is The Man Who Married Into A High Ranking Family. There’s a free complete version on Wattpad and a paid version or you wait for weekly releases after the first 10 or so chapters on mochistar. I actually found mochistar included more information about what China was like at the time that explained motivations of characters while Wattpad was direct word translation. One of the links is in a recent discussion post above.

This drama greatly benefits if one reads the novel too. A lot of nuance comes through better in writing, I guess,…
The novel really did help to see the details in the show that I might have missed. Also the mochistar translation included a lot of background information on the cultural meanings that helped so much more than the Wattpad version that seemed to be more specifically direct word translation. In fact watching the show and reading the novels had me thinking about Life in the Smokey Blue which I was watching at the same time, the whole time and the detail the mcs of that put into their translations. So all together it was a great viewing experience

Nope. It came too late. Disappointing serie.
YES!! And there were a couple of comments he made to BLQ one about the white hair not going back to black and another I can’t remember right now, where I thought BLQ you have been told!

It got explained late in the series when it showed the time, but had you noticed Xaio Fan’s different clothes, way of carrying himself, interactions with family changing? It was really subtle but it was there

Watched episode 11. I'M SO PROUD OF YOU SOUPY!!! 😭😭😭😭😭👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I feel Xiao Fan got a little hated on for the soup here. He was cooking up a chef’s kiss soup that even Auntie Lin wouldn’t cook, hers were probably the equivalent of 2 minute noodles even though she loved the Bai family (exaggeration but you get the point).
