It doesn’t have to be modern. I think CCTV also like to promote their cultural heritage and Xu Kai can play a young Emperor. He did so well in Royal Feast. Xiao Zhan has an upcoming costume drama that’s for CCTV but the platform is YOUKU. Fire Investigator too might be a CCTV drama because it honors an important yet unpopular profession. Most dramas focus on fire fighters, police, lawyers, investment bankers etc
I also feel YOUKU might soon give him a costume drama historical or xia xia because in the past year they gave Zhao Lusi a costume and modern, gave Yang Yang a xia xia and a historical etc

Heard he now has better control if not 100% control over what projects or scripts he takes. This will be evident from now on , not sure about MoonLit Reunion but others - Fire Investigator and 800 meters are going to show us a better actor-Xu Kai.

Want to watch because of Xu Kai but no subtitles

I just watched the promo video for ten cent award star night and I don’t know how I feel about the platform anymore. I saw it on youtube. The only time Kai Kai was featured his face wasn’t even shown it was just for about 2 seconds while other people had about several features with their faces showing in full. He had more than 1 drama on the platform last year but none of his character made the cut for the promo video only MR 2 secs cut focusing on the FL and side profile of KK🥹

As of now no announcement. He’s not on the list shared by tencent. Let’s wait for his January calendar. I saw on facebook that WYibo announced his attendance 2 days before that of last year. It could also be that XuKai is planning to do the same or he has declined the invitation. I checked google map and it takes about 10 hours to get to Macau from where he’s filming. He might think it’s not worth the hassle to travel for 1 or 2 plaques. Maybe he’ll get 1 plaque for MR reservation numbers & 1 for popular overseas actor.
