Come to think of it, the last ‘in house’ drama. Xu Kai did was Royal Feast ( SHPH was brought by Y.Mi )and I heard the casting was somewhat controversial which cost CK a friendship/ relationship (dunno what’s true or not).
He must now have a strong say in what and what he films, a long time back.

1. Xiao Zhan ( siblings cast one is serious looking after the family business but the other brother is playful / playboy on the outside … in secret the playful brother helps the family business kinda trope 😂 )
2. Bai Lu just for the traffic it will bring 😂… announcing it alone will shoot them to top 1 trending on weibo 😂 ( the trope I want is opps… not the same romantic pairing they’ve had in the past … this will surprise people and satisfy both fandoms )
3. Zhao Lusi ( just for the traffic lol but I doubt it can happen because ZL won’t accept 2nd billing neither will Xu Kai … don’t get me wrong XK is not proud, he will accept 2nd billing with seniors )
4. Dilraba - I want siblings too. I don’t think I have watched any cdrama that portrays the sibling bond between sister and brother (orphaned or not)… it should not always be romance 😂
5. Jing Tian AGAIN - modern drama (Mr and Mrs Smith kinda trope but as undercover agents/investigators/mercenaries with transmigration to Tang dynasty era… I don’t know if such trope will pass censorship 😂 ) Married with a kid - a boy but will go for secret missions together undercover as strangers to each other 😂😂 I can write the script if they’ll pay me or give it to XK for free if he can get the resources to produce it 😂

Looking forward to Xu Kai’s announcement of his new drama. Why do I feel like he has a contractual obligation to as a ‘tencent ambassador’ to film certain numbers of their dramas in a year 🤔… perhaps that’s why he will be taking the short tencent one since MR is the only one of their dramas he has filmed this year.

Hmmm based on my knowledge of Xu Kai ‘s drama, BCE it took around 6 months post wrap up for it to air, however that was a modern drama with little or no faf! I doubt this will air in 2024 because this actress has like another drama that her fans have been waiting for, for over one year now and that one is rumored to start in November.
MR has CGI? No? If there’s CGI I’m afraid 2024 is not feasible. Wrap up was in May …

I’m not worried at all about this hair cut. I feel Xu Kai ‘s hair grows out quickly. By the time he goes for the fan meet in Hengdian, it would have grown out well. Btw he rocked this hair well. Made him look like a new recruit 😂

I agree that most of XK’s dramas has focused heavily on the FL’s story however he was able to make his own character dominant/stand out.

Legends was about Xiao Yao
FIYS was about Tong Yao
OUTLM was all about him
ALP was about Shanggu
DSE was about Su You Lian
CL was about Fu Ruo (it was actually named Da Tang’s daughter)
RF was about Zi Jin
LKM was all about him
WOL was mostly about him
SHPH was all about Qi Shi
ABAY was about Jin Xing (but he made his mark ✅💯)

I haven’t seen BCE & SEL. I also haven’t completed S&F (but it’s giving FL story).
The reason why FC dramas are common in cent is because Cdrama is heavily reliant on adaptations. From novels, games, comic/animes etc. MC scripts are really easy to write if they won’t all stop looking for easy ways to make money by tapping into ‘popularity / traffic’ etc

The possibility of the haircut been prep for his new drama also crossed my mind. Yu Tong has had a normal sized crop of hair throughout filming. Why did he now cut his hair short when it’s about 3 days left to finish filming. He also has brand events will he attend with short hair?😂 I like him with long hair with or without ponytail☺️☺️

I am writing this because we’ve discussed it recently. Xu Kai and Xiao Zhan’s resemblance.
Honestly with this new weibo update (XK in buzzcut) he somehow resembles XZ. A realistic twin/sibling modern drama cast would work well with the 2 of them.

Saw Xu Kai’s weibo update. Seems Yu Tong really made him adjust his looks 😂 he had to get a lean / ripped / gym body now he is flaunting a buzz cut. Can’t wait to meet Yu Tong. It’s a pity Youku international app won’t let us reserve.

Regarding Xu Kai saying he’s a bit old fashioned 😂 if one watches his interviews one can see that he is a old soul or has a old soul 😂 watching economics, current affairs etc are things my generation finds boring
I also believe XK has a nice investment portfolio (won’t be surprised if he has invested in a hamburger shop in hengdian or his home town where I heard tourists usually frequent because it’s seaside) , he got admitted into a prestigious Chinese uni to study finance, this is a big deal. He is sooo good with numbers this I saw on 2 variety shows GE5ep7 (I think with YM & PC) and Happy Camp (the ep to promote ALP).

Moving on … I am pumped for this new ‘rumored’ role (perhaps I should write rumored in capital letters 😂😂
I have so many questions: what made him a villain? Was he (the character) hiding his villainous nature from the police dad? What was the mom’s take, did she support her son or her husband? will we see tattoos, smoking (I suppose not China is kinda conservative in their dramas, I may be wrong)?
