A deeply offensive drama that violates women
This show promotes rape. Instead of treating the subject with respect, the writers normalized violence against women. The female lead (Mia) would be deeply traumatized by what her rapist did and would not be able to love him. Instead of showing this, the writers promoted a romance with the rapist. Sexual violence should never be taken lightly; however, this show does exactly that. It is a huge disgrace to women worldwide. Was this review helpful to you?
Jumong - a totally unrealistic character
The character Jumong is way too unbelievable. Great warriors are forgiving, but only to a point. They will not allow their enemies to keep harming them. They deal with them effectively so that they do not return. The writers are so preoccupied with making Jumong a great person that they end up giving us someone who is deeply unrealistic. Jumong makes decisions that are utterly foolish all because the writers want him to be good. But no one is that good. This character is an insult to our intelligence. Was this review helpful to you?
Vastly overrated
This series is extremely overrated for various reasons, including the following...He Ge as Lin Shu/Mei Changsu. What a boring actor. He failed to capture the many facets of Lin Shu, delivering a staggeringly one-note performance. He lacked the charm, wit, and interesting personality that Lin Shu is supposed to have. This role needed an actor with far more range.
We Lei as Fei Liu. One of the worst actors I have ever seen in my life. Pouting is not acting.
Lastly, I struggled to finish the last 4 episodes. Once the big reveal happens, the series comes to a grinding halt. I had no interest in finishing it. Also, the character Lin Chen appears quite frequently around this time - and it is not for the better. The actor who plays him (Jin Dong) does an awful job, making the last 4 episodes nearly unwatchable.
