I gave up trusting MDL's rating a while ago. It's so easy to manipulate and there are so many trolls who'll give…
Same here. I can only speak on SCOY as it's the only series I've commented on MDL but one of the reasons I started watching it because of the negative reviews but it has now become my favorite series ever. I'm also excited about Earth's new role in this series after he was treated like nothing at his other company.

Honestly after seeing thee rating for SCOY, I stopped trusting MDL ratings. So I would not worry about this rating just make sure to spread positive message about this series on this platform and other social media and have people who enjoy the show come and comment here also. There are many trolls on MDL. I have not rated it yet as I have not yet started it but once I do I'll post an honest review.

Thank you. I really appreciate your words and point of view. I really never understood why everywhere I saw they…
YES To everything you said. I've watched BLs in the past and most left sour taste in the mouth. I've worked with Domestic Violence survivors (Male, female and trans/non binary) before moving to Treatment center as a counselor. So most of the characters and their actions in BL that fans found "hot, sexy...etc..." I found it to be someone's misconstrued fantasy in a patriarchal society where male dominance and aggressive behavior is seen as something to be praised or appreciated and femininity, no matter the individual, is seen as less than and degraded. There is an internalized misogyny that people have from a certain age and it is learned.

I saw a post today from lil NasX about homophobia and how people are less accepting when a gay person acts more feminine. And I realized that this conversation should be really talked about out in the open and try to get to the root of why people feel a certain way about femininity. It's a sad reality we live in but we can change our reality by speaking up and speaking out when we see things like these, like we're doing now.

I love SCOY and all the characters. I especially love Toh and his friends because no matter how I see it, most of us have been in their shoes, one way or another. They will hold a special place in my heart. I am also looking forward to War of Y because they said it will show the reality of what BL actors have to go through behind the scenes. I'm sure it'll probably be toxic but I'm am so glad they're bringing it to our attention because it's not always butterflies and roses.

I really appreciate your post. Its well thought out and goes straight to the point! Thank you again :)

Just saw this now on Twitter and had to come here to say thank you for your brilliant and empathetic review of…
Thank you. I really appreciate your words and point of view. I really never understood why everywhere I saw they were talking about this series as if it was the most toxic or the most unrealistic with a deranged Main Lead. It's as if all these toxic masculine BL lead characters actions are more acceptable than Toh's character which is one of the most harmless, kind and loving characters I've seen in BL. I'm glad this series was made because it showed how people's inner feelings regarding femininity and inner misogyny came out and made them uncomfortable. Which, I think, was what Saint and Saint's manager (P'Chen) were hoping for. And it worked! :)

I posted this in my review but thought I would also share here as well.

This journey started a bit rocky for me because I've been reading comments on MDL that said "Toh is a stalker and must be admitted to a mental hospital"... I read all these before starting the series because it got me curious and as a counselor, I wanted to "study" his character. What I found was more than what people were talking about. They only focused on Toh's actions and failed to mention the other character's insecurities and actions. Almost everyone in this series had insecurities that were addressed in the show one way or another. But I want to focus on Toh as he seems to be a topic of choice for some to hate on the series.

Well... I was disappointed because the comments made it seem like Toh was like "Girl interrupted" while he was literally acting like fan. He collected food, which I found was a bit sad but other than that, because it showed a lack of self esteem and we start understanding it is based on nurture and not nature, through out the show,

I see that the title of the book says "Stalker the series" but in all honesty, it was a poor choice of word and Secret crush on you fits better to what the series showed. Because as a counselor that works at a treatment center, I did not see any harassment or disruptive, unwanted behavior from Toh towards Nuea that would make me say "he needs therapy or needs to go to a mental institute".

What I got from his actions, especially after meeting his parents is that he grew up in a Loving home but was still told since young he was not beautiful or was ugly and then when he started going to school, he might have felt more self conscious because he was made to believe since his younger days from his most trusted family, that he did not possess a face that is fully acceptable to the world. And based on his mom's "obsession" with handsome men, we learn how looks are coveted in society and if you dont have the looks, then it'll be hammered into you that you are not good enough.

That is why I Loved Nuea's view of Toh. Nuea told Toh that he is cute on multiple occasions and told him to be himself and did not ever want him to change himself because he loved him the way he was. The last episode, when Nuea brought all Toh's collection into his home and made a display of it without making Toh ashamed... that sealed the deal for me. Nuea was the only person in Toh's life, from childhood until now, that ever showed a full and total acceptance of him without any strings. Nuea is the only person in Toh's life that Loves and accepts him for who he is.

Can you imagine? A person you've had been crushing on for a long time tells and shows you, no matter what you reveal about your true self, and no matter how much society says you dont deserve this, that person is there fully, without any conditions, to show you your worth that you have never believed you had. By doing this, Nuea was not encouraging Toh's "habits" but telling him, it is ok now. I am with you now and what you've collected so far is more then enough and from now on, since our feeling is mutual, lets be present together and look forward to our future that involves only Us!

This was a Beautiful watch and I would recommend it to anyone.
