I only read up to Ender's Shadow. Those are the only books I have read by Orson Scott Card. As far as guardedly optimistic about Dune, what I really mean is that I am hoping it's good, but holding back because it will likely suck!

Honestly making those books come alive on the big screen will be as hard as The Lord of the Rings. Maybe they could get Peter Jackson? (too late!)

I saw those too. They were close to the book unlike the older 80's movie. They lacked the budget and special effects to make it more visually appealing. I enjoyed both mini-series Dune and Children of Dune. I appreciated the fact that they followed the books more accurately than the old movie. Looking forward to the re-make that was cut short due to the pandemic. (guardedly optimistic)

I often get nervous when they decide to make movies out of books that I really like.. haha!

Frank Herbert, I've read them too! They haven't transferred well to the big screen though. (not yet)

I did like The Martian. Ridley Scott has some great science fiction films to his credit. I also liked Alien (The first movie), Blade Runner, ( Based one of the great Philip K Dick novels: Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep) and Legend to name a few. I used to read a lot of science fiction books when I was a kid. Science fiction is one of my guilty pleasures... haha!

There will be no opposing pressure since there would've been explosive decompression or rapid decompression at high altitude once a hole opened up. It only takes a few seconds for a sizeable hole to decompress the whole plane. You wouldn't be working very well without an oxygen mask after decompression at high altitudes either. The scenario was cool and exciting, but not very realistic.

We could also start a discussion about the likelihood of a bird strike at near 40,000 feet like the excuse given on the TV news in the show. Not saying that it couldn't happen, but only a few large birds in the world can reach that altitude.

These birds are amazing.

I realize that this is a science fiction show, but they could've left that stunt out.. they should've left that stunt out.. I wasn't trying to nitpick, I just found that scene more funny than realistic. I like science fiction, it's just that it isn't always very realistic or believable.

Is it just me or does Kim Seo Jin remind anyone of Dr Szell in Marathon Man? Instead of using dental drills and dental tools for torture interrogation she uses drugs.. In the last scene of interrogation I was just waiting for her to ask "Is it safe". Jung Hye In has done a great job. Her character officially gives me the creeps.

She acts all concerned about Han Tae Sul, then proceeds to use a chemical lobotomy on him.... ugh.
I think that puts her in the "nasty evil" category.

You know it isn't going to be realistic when the main lead sealed a cockpit windshield with a plastic paper liner and duct tape. (and on the inside!) Sorry, but 400 MPH wind shear would tear that right apart. Kinda... funny though.

I think she had more issues going on that what the story portrayed. They all had communication issues. Five years is a long time to date without having that discussion for exclusive couples.

Every person in this show had poor communication skills! Almost every misunderstanding was a result from lack of/poor communication. Nothing wrong with living the single life if that is what you want. I don't know about everyone else, but those topics are usually thrown out there in the first 3 months. (my experience anyway)

I understand everything that you're conveying. Your English isn't horrid. (Don't ever apologize for it!)

I am sure every Brit and Aussie cringes when they hear my English (American English) with a little drawl.

I agree, I just don't get why they waited about a decade to come out about it. Hopefully they can get some resolution if it is in fact true.

Oh, sorry. I was just reading more articles from the original link you posted. They didn't have all that information about separate accuser's.

Why are the accusers remaining anonymous? Is that typical in Korea? If you don't even have to identify yourself, that puts the accused at a pretty big disadvantage.

The first article I read said nothing about her age, but just mentioned that the incident happened in middle school. Here you wouldn't have any 16 or 17 year olds in middle school. I didn't read about the age till later. I was just mentioning it because what Korea calls Middle School and what the US calls Middle school appear to be different. (because of the age) The age of 17 here would likely be your last year of High School before you attend College.

I also find it strange that multiple people would make accusations yet they have not revealed who they are. I don't know about the laws in Korea, but in the US, that doesn't make you look like a victim.

Also in the news, there was a retraction posted by the originator of the accusations that said it was someone else, not Hye-Su. That retraction makes it seem that it is no longer the compendium of information for accusations against her.

If the alleged victims don't identify themselves, who will they pay? The latest response from her agency is that they looked into the allegations and found overwhelming evidence that the accusations are false. They basically told the accusers to legally play your cards... That doesn't seem to say that they will pay them off, that sounds more like a legal battle will happen.

I am neither a lawyer nor do I know Korean law. That is just my supposition from the articles that I have read. I guess we will find out eventually. A difference of cultures to be sure.

Well, like I said, here the maximum outside age of our middle schools would be 14. Some have one less grade making the age even younger. I guess the school structure is completely different. I think they delayed the show to look into the allegations. I still wouldn't trust anyone who made accusations anonymously. I realize that the laws are likely different there.

I just read about it. I think since the accuser is "anonymous", that should tell you everything you need to know. The fact that there is no official documented cases, it also boils down to a "they said she said" situation. The anonymous poster also said it wasn't Hye-soo, and deleted the posting.

So I guess it all boils down to guilty until proven innocent? There sure are a lot of unsubstantiated accusations flying around.

Did I read this correctly? Middle school? Here in the States that is between 10-14 years of age. The brain development doesn't even reach it's peak until 25. Women mature faster than men, but that would clearly make her a child at the time of allegations. What I am reading it is allegations.

Unless she is torturing children and animals and has committed murder (proven beyond a reasonable doubt), I think she deserves a pass. Every individual on the planet has done something stupid at some point in time during their lives.. some have done MANY stupid things in their lives. (especially as children)

I think the proverb "those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw rocks" applies.

If you have been dating for 5 years at their age, you would HOPE that the topic comes up in discussion at least ONCE! lol A lot of secrets between the two. I will have to say I am a little annoyed with a reference to "Grandpa's final letter" with no reveal at the end.

Title Lovestruck in the City Spoiler
I feel like today all I'm doing is defending this poor lady, but I feel like many people here have too many attachments…
Do you remember that in the first episode she was getting flustered trying to explain her life to the camera too? I thought it was a bit hypocritical for her to slam GJ for it, when she herself is subconscious about it. I think she was just truly upset with her mother. I can't imagine a parent not claiming you as their child.. That is about the most horrible thing I saw on the series.

Today's episode she confessed he was her first love. She acted like she didn't know him when he was protesting the destruction of the park with her.

If they were fine for 5 years, (I originally thought it was 10) I think they could still be just fine together. Honestly, no relationships exist well without compromise. Surely they could make compromises on their issues and be just fine. For a couple that seemed so happy and meshed so well, it seemed like a ridiculous breakup.

As far as the part time jobs, they often don't give you that kind of flexibility because they have hours that they need filled. I lived this life in college and schedules were often tough to mesh with school and my off time. I only had 2 part time jobs, not 3. I did odd jobs too for extra cash when the opportunity arose. I can tell you I was lucky to get a day off in a week. Many places won't even keep you on the schedule unless you agree to "X" amount of hours a week. It could be different in Korea, I have never been there and don't know how they do things. In the US, most of my part time jobs wanted to schedule me at least 24 hours to 32 hours a week. They often weren't extremely flexible on the shifts. Now dog walking for 2 hours a day isn't much, but she needs to be off twice a day for it? Many times in the show, they showed her at work more the GJ, although he took time off in the day to see her. Mostly this opinion comes from my own experiences..

As far as the nightstand goes, he told her how much it was worth. He agreed begrudgingly for her to sell it, but he told her at least 3 times that the price was way too low. She also brought it up the sale as soon as he was talking about helping her with school.. right after that side eye look. That is why I thought it was intentional. She seemed like she would do anything to get him off the subject.

I always have a hard time with this because I am relying on translations. So I am sure I am missing all kinds of subtleties in the conversation because I don't speak the language. There probably are many things said that are not direct translations because of different meanings.. I can't be certain.

It seemed like they could have a great relationship.. unless he wants marriage and kids and she doesn't.. Things that are completely open because they didn't spend enough time with them on the series to broach the subject.

One thing is certain, they both looked extremely unhappy in episode 17. They looked like they both missed each other a lot. You are right, it would've been nicer to have a little more time with the side couples. Also, you are right about EO and KG as well. I didn't mention it because I was talking about RY. I thought it was odd that they both treated him that way being "close friends".

Nobody in this series was a good communicator! lol
