I'm at ep 54 now. For the rest of the drama, will Ming Lan ever successfully prove how capable she is? It's been like 20 eps since she married into the Gu house, and there have been very few situations where she could handle it without her husband. Will she at least be able to stop others from insinuating that she's arrogant and disrespectful to the elders? Will there be some truly smart maneuvers coming from her? Because after her marriage, she has not been very impressive.
Should I drop this? The first half was engaging but it is getting so irritating now. The lack of formalities, especially for the royalty, is astounding. Too many rude women, and they have such little regard for their position to the point of being unbelievable. And the female lead keeps refusing to grow. She just starts smart mouthing at every chance she got. Does it get better? I’m too far along to give up but at this stage, parts of the drama are unbearable.
Hi, does anybody know why this drama has not yet revealed its douban score? The score does not mean much to me personally but it's weird that the drama has finished airing for so long and there's no score on DB.
There's a major cleanup happening in C-ent right now. So what happened to Zhehan seemed less about what he had done and more about who had backed him up . Dramas and celebrities' names are disappearing on C platforms.
I was so bewildered at first and could not figure out what was happening, so I did some googling to try to understand the situation. Apparently, in 2014, Justin Bieber - a foreigner - had to apologize for visiting Yasukuni shrine, and the news was very big in China. Every time the prime minister of Japan visits the shrine, it draws severe criticism from their neighboring country. After the photos ZZH took surfaced and he apologized, some major official TV channels commented that an apology could not make what he did go away, and that the shrine is evil and housed evil spirits. And apparently, August 13 to Chinese people is like the day of the Pearl Harbor attack to Americans. Zhehan was really unlucky, but he was quite careless too. This is not just some anti attack. Since he already apologized, I hope after some time, he could return, better and stronger.
I don’t really follow China drama actor new, but does this usually happen? When an CP paring get international…
This is the first time that I've seen brands act that quick, everything's happened in just a day. It's just really cruel, scary and heartbreaking to watch. In the two cases I assume you mean, situations were different, but I guess when they get too famous too fast, they will get scrunitized much much more. The bigger the stars, the bigger the storms they have to face. And the last two danmei adaptations have brought the leads to stardom too quick.
Can someone tell me if its a disaster to watch this before reading it? cause i want to read priest's novels eventually…
You can definitely watch this before reading the novel. The drama deviates from the novel quite a bit, and most fans find that they can enjoy both versions for their own merits.
The latest ep was really enjoyable. Love the interactions between Sukhyung and Min-ha. I hope there's gonna be some kind of confrontation between Jun-wan and Ik-sun, for them to learn from past mistakes in their relationship.
That fan group is problematic and crazy to the point even the artist himself is drowning because of them. Just…
Fan wars in C-fandoms are especially nasty and in this no side is better than the other. There were times the other artist's drama got a flood of 1 star ratings from this side too. Let's just stay out of it and have fun in our little corner, enjoying whatever drama we like.
Why do you think WOH has such a high rating, when other popular dramas fail to even reach an eight?
Hi, first I think it's because the drama is really good. But also as AvenueX pointed out, it was also very lucky. There is something I notice which might have helped WoH's douban ratings: 1. It is not a popular traffic drama (as Gusu Bunny said). Those dramas have too much money involved but too often not enough heart. And also, there is this (understandable) prejudice that a traffic drama/idol drama would not be good no matter what. 2. WoH's really done right by danmei fans. Our male leads were clearly in love and they had a happy ending. 3. There was no big pre-existing aggressive fanbase of the original work or other adaptations. The viewer count might be really high if a drama is a big IP but it has to deal with a lot of expectations and pressure. CQL had to prove itself to novel fans, donghua fans, audio drama fans, and while it did sorta succeed, it also did receive a flood of 1 star ratings at the beginning. 4. WoH does not have the kind of obvious flaws that C-drama watchers find unacceptable: bad CGI, actors' overacting, draggy beginning, irrational actions and illogical plot points. It's just overall very solid and consistent. 5. GJ and ZZH's rise to fame was not too sudden and overwhelming, therefore much more 'acceptable'.
Apparently there were a lot of problems with their budgets so they could not film everything they had wanted to do. Considering everything, I believe they did the very best they could.
Im on ep4 and am actually cringing at the flirting lol the storyline is not capturing me like The Untamed did...just…
I think this drama is worth giving another chance. The Untamed was meh for me at the beginning too. At ep 4, the relationships in WoH are not yet fully developed or unveiled. While I'm not too captivated by WoH's plot, I find the relationships here very heartfelt and touching. You can try watching to ep 10 before dropping it.
I think what is odd is that if you click on the stats icon next to the rating, the breakdown of votes by score…
I think recent dramas or dramas that have most viewers at the "currently watching" and "plan to watch" stages don't have the score statistics. Or the score stats for recent dramas are broken. Legend of Fei's score stats are weird and do not seem to be correct. Move to heaven, The long ballad, and Navillera do not have score stats.
uh oh, i think this drama is getting too popular for some untamed fans again, needing to make accounts to write…
Maybe we should just ignore these people, there are not many of them and everyone can tell from those few comments that they are not worth our attention. Even some of the best drama has a few of those 1.0-rating reviews. I'm bothered by the comparisons too, but there's a big part of the fandom that's been yelling about both SHL and CQL, and they share so much delicious content for both, which makes me really happy.
I think human beings just like to compare things - helps them puts things in context maybe or make sense of experiences.…
Thank you for your reply. Yeah, comparisons could be necessary and helpful. As someone who enjoy both dramas, I'm just a bit bothered that some comments seem ill-informed or mean-spirited.
I'm really curious, what exactly prompts the relentless comparisons between WOH and Untamed? They are both successful guzhuang drama adaptations from BL novels, they both have the "xia" element. Many similarities pointed out seem to be tropes from the genre itself.
oooo, the amount of hand holding in this drama... enough to make crazy TU fans to come and rate this drama one…
Really? I remember seeing only 2, 3 bad reviews in passing. While I'm aware some Cfans of CQL were not pleased with some PR moves from SHL team, most international CQL/MDZS fans I know from twitter love SHL a lot and praise the drama enthusiastically.
I wanted to like this drama so much, and I still do because I think the ml is wonderful and really looked like…
If i remember correctly, when the drama was filmed, the female lead was more popular than the male lead. That might be why they increased screen time for Xiao Wu.
Zhehan was really unlucky, but he was quite careless too. This is not just some anti attack. Since he already apologized, I hope after some time, he could return, better and stronger.
