What newly formed teenage couple raged with hormones would sit 1 feet apart gazing the star when the whole school…
Like?!!! I get that he was a minor, but still — they could’ve at least held hands or had Heesu rest his head on his boyfriend’s shoulder, something romantic and cute. Instead, we got a socially-distanced star-gazing scene.

The thing that pains me about this adaptation is that the manhwa had such a simple, easygoing plot they could’ve easily followed. If the original story was too sexual, violent, or overly complicated, I’d understand the need for changes—but it wasn’t. They had everything they needed right there, and yet they still managed to mess everything up.

In casting Ji Ho, a 17-18-year-old at the time of filming, the production team set the gay couple up for failure…
I kinda agree with this. Casting Ahn Ji Ho as Heesu, while he was a great choice acting-wise, definitely limited how far they could go with the romance, especially since he was a minor at the time. And it’s not that I’m defending this mess of an adaptation… A kiss is honestly the least of my worries. They straight-up butchered the characters and plotlines. While the chemistry between the male leads was there, it’s like 5% of what we got in the manhwa. It really feels like the production never fully committed to the original gay storyline—and that random straight subplot didn’t help either. Ahn Ji Ho did his best, but the setup around him just didn’t do the story justice.

This episode was good, but I can’t help thinking—if the show had stuck closer to the manhwa, especially the character development and the pacing of the relationships, it probably would’ve hit harder and gotten more attention. Oh well.
