I'm so late but wow the way you've described everything. I love the show so much. I don't know if I have it in me to watch the Japanese version but I heard that the other ver had a lighter tone compared to korean one. Lee Boyoung was the perfect fit for that role, I couldn't see anyone doing it better. Silenced was good as well but yes I agree, the protagonist of Mother I truly wished hell upon.
