I did not like Runyu’s character in the Adhes of Love series. Before his mom was killed by the Empress, Runyu seemed kind and likeable. After his mom was killed, Runyu was filled with rage and hate. Also, he planned to take over his father’s kingdom.
Runyu was sneaky and very manipulative. He started lying and doing whatever it took to get what he wanted. He manipulated Jinmi’s father into thinking that Jinmi loved him. She liked him. Even when Jinmi told Runyu that Xufeng was the only man she loved, Runyu wanted to force her to marry him.
Runyu hated his father, but he became like his father. He was obsessed with Jinmi. He lied and manipulated the truth. When Jinmi investigated the dreams book, Runyu deliberately tricked her into believing that Xufeng killed her parents. Runyu tampered with Jinmi’s memory of love for Xufeng. Also, he would not let Jinmi leave the palace. He imprisoned her the same way that his father imprisoned the Floral Goddess, Jinmi’s mother. Runyu was excellent in manipulating minds. His father was also an excellent manipulator.
When Jinmi investigated the real dreams, she wanted to question the chief o dreams. Runyu said that he must be killed. He made it look as if the man had committed suicide.
I did not see anything that was redeemable about Runyu. He became a liar and a killer.
