Very nice article.. it's always good to get another perspective on how the Hallyu wave may be affecting other Asian entertainment. I personally started with Japanese dramas, and even though I have been on a Korean drama trend lately I still look forward to watching DIFFERENT dramas from DIFFERENT countries. Even if a there may be similar versions people seem to forget that the culture is different, the language is different, the actors are different and i think that's what makes watching Asian television that much more interesting. It drives me crazy when people put Korean dramas/music/entertainers/etc above other Asian countries' entertainment but it would be nice if everyone could at least try it before they knock it. You'd be surprise what you'll end up liking ^_^
He's the reason why I even started watching dramas. I mean the guy is hot and watching him act in different roles only deepens my love for him... (Le sigh) Why couldn't he have married me?!! T_T

Your article on Oguri Shun was super awesome, made me remember the reason why I even started watching dramas in the first place! The amazingness of that article entitles that we commence friendship! ^_^
I'm as good as eva! Yep, Tamaki and Ueno definitely had me hooked back when I starting watching dramas but I loved him even more in Love Shuffle. ^_^
You should totally watch Bloody Monday... had me on the edge of sit like the whole time. It sucks that it's getting hard to find good streaming sites to watch Jdramas. -__-
I thought I was the only one who loved this guy... he definitely has his charms, which is why I love just watching him play all types of roles. And Sweet Room.... OhMyGod Sweet Room... Sweet Room OhMyGod!! ^_^
BEST ARTICLE EVER!!! I'd love to see more conversations btwn you and your brain. It's the exact same argument me, myself, and I go through on a daily basis when I start a new drama. I afraid to say that I have to take brain's side though. Brain made sooo many good points.... but fan-girl is right THEY'RE ALL SOOO GORGEOUS!
I can honestly say that although Japanese story lines are more interesting that traditional kdramas, there is a bit of lagging when it comes to a good kiss scene (though Buzzer Beat is one my fav kisses). Not to say kdramas are that much better, but they do give you more to chose from (Coffee Prince being one my favs).

BUT i will say that if you want a Jdrama with a damn good kiss scene/session whatever. Check out SWEET ROOM's "Last Love" episode with NARIMIYA HIROKI (one of my favs). I had a hard time picking my jaw up off the floor. ^_^
Dear God I've been infected for years now and it hasn't occurred to me how much my perspectives have changed... learning Korean and Japanese (language, history and culture), cooking asian dishes, dating asian guys (someday), visiting all parts of Asia (Korea and Japan down many more to go), loving any and everything about Asia... I should be quarantined!! So long as I have a laptop and unlimited bandwidth I don't care lock me up! ^_^

Awesome introduction, dramas are definitely my main escape.
The scenes I remembered most were the ones where you see the glimpses of the old Shunji. Once Shunji turned into a complete monster, as much i as i wanted to hated him i couldn't completely commit. There were moments when i saw the old Shunji and would say to myself "come on shunji you're still in there, just stop," hoping Shunji would snap out of it. I pitied him, i didn't want to keep seeing him falling into this dark place, it gave me the chills.
Also, the fact that i enjoyed the possible romance between Ra Ra and Kang To a WHOLE lot more than the emotionless one i felt between Kang To and Mok Dan kind of upset me a little. When Mok Dan was gone I felt nothing for at all (not to say I hated Mok Dan, nor did i love her), if anything i felt worse for the sadden Kang To. I felt the same way for Ra Ra as i did for Shunji, that i just wanted her to snap of her delusions.

Thanks for the add.. that Yamapi pic of yours is hot ^_^
Next to Oguri Shun.... Yamapi has to be the only other actor that I stalk. I mean I've even seen dramas where he's just a supporting character or a cameo even! I can't get enough of this guy... train-obsessed Kengo, awkwardly weird Akira, genius Ken, and ever-changing Kurosagi... whenever I watch one of his dramas whether I love it or not, I know I'm gonna enjoy... I mean it is Yampi we're talking about. ^_^

Great minds think alike I suppose ^_^ Thanks for the add!
YEESSSS!!! It's been awhile since i've heard these songs it totally brings me back... especially Hana Kimi (the drama that got me into dramas). I mean how can you not jump around like a little school girl and clap along when Ai Otsuka's Peach comes on... or even Orange Range opening song (Ikenai Taiyou).
And i definitely need to look into kagi no kakatta heya... that OST sounds legit.
