The best thing about this show is that by adding a mystery element, they create a different dynamic, as well as significant added suspense for both the participants and for viewers, particularly during the build up to when all is revealed in the final episode. But this also means that the interactions among the participants are clearly highly controlled and manipulated to maintain that suspense to an even greater extent than normal. When added to the shorter 8-day duration of the filming, we simply don't get the same complexity and depth of the relationships that develop among the participants on some of the other dating shows.
