Great chemistry, awesome acting, well done and well paced: A gift.
I honestly can't even put into words just how much I loved every second of watching this mini drama.
TLDR: Fun, well paced, well shot and a story that's easy to follow without too much at stake. Actors have great chemistry and as someone that's very picky when it comes to humor, I'm surprised at just how much I laughed watching every episode.
If you're in doubt on whether to watch it or not, give it a try. The first episode is 11 minutes long and that was all it needed to get me hooked. Finished the whole thing in two days, but the official WeTV / Tencent Video YouTube channel compiled all episodes and they all summed up to 3 hours.
I’m very picky in regards to pacing and editing in everything I watch, but I have absolutely nothing but compliments when it comes to those two things here. Each episode being 11 minutes didn't affect the pacing, camera work or the editing. It's not snappy and every scene has great continuity. It's still a mini-drama, but the episodes are well-paced, introducing plot points as it goes without tripping over itself.
Mad props to the actors and the people responsible for choosing them because they nailed it. I don't think the characters they played could have been any more charismatic if played by anyone else. Just perfect. The chemistry, the personality, the way they played off of each other. Chef's kiss. When it was time for a more emotional moment, they delivered; the comedy? Perfect. Side characters and antagonists? Wonderful acting too.
The ending was satisfying! The plot is not the most complicated and intricate thing ever, but it's there, and I think they did a good job of tying everything together in the end and even threw a little plot twist there.
The low rating almost made me not watch it. But I'm glad I trusted the recommendation I saw. Please, give it a try! You might fall in love with it like I did.
