Same here :D I never thought I'd watch anything Chinese, I thought they are too long for me... But I ended up finishing the Untamed, in a record time, and now I'm addicted...To the Untamed and wuxia in general. It's a truly amazing genre, that has some real masterpieces.
That you should definitely watch the Untamed, because it's golden :DSeriously though, Chinese dramas (wuxia, xianxia…
I usually don't like watching series while they are airing, the wait drives me crazy, but.... I love Priest's works so much, I couldn't resist :D And yes, focus on the details. Not just what you see and read, but also.... It's probably not easy if it's your first Chinese drama, especially if you don't know the language, but also try to focus on what you hear. How the characters address each other, because it tells a lot. When I was rewatching the Untamed and managed to get details like that... For me it added so much to the experience...
i never watched a chinese drama before, not even the untamed. what should i know about chinese dramas before starting…
That you should definitely watch the Untamed, because it's golden :D Seriously though, Chinese dramas (wuxia, xianxia and xuanhuan dramas at least, I can not say anything about other genres) indeed tend to be quite complex, (so are the novels written by Priest). Try to pay attention to every little detail, because sometimes even the smallest, seemingly meaningless moments/words/gestures matter A LOT. Other than that, just enjoy. You are in for one hell of a ride. :D
It kind of is, but not really. It was adapted from a BL novel, but China's censorship won't allow to show it, so they kind of altered their relationship, but it's still pretty obvious that the leads are (not just a bit) more than friends.
I watched the first episode, and halfway through, I dropped the drama. The first episode is kinda confusing
It really can be a bit confusing at first, but only because it has a non linear timeline. :D If you really want to watch it in the order of the events, start with the end of the second episode (literally only a few minutes before the ending theme), and watch it until the middle of episode 33 (not exactly the middle, but about 16 minutes in the ep if I remember well...?), switch back to the first 2 episodes then, and after those are over, just continue where you stopped at ep.33, the timeline goes on straight from that point. But don't drop ot, you'll miss out on a lot! This drama is just wonderful the way it is! A captivating story, well made characters and relationships, beautiful music, and acting, that had me dumbfounded (I could've watched this entire drama only for the way Wang Yibo prtrayed Lan Wangji...) It really is a must watch and not only because of the beautiful bromance between the male leads.
