Yes, historically makeup for men has been present all over the world in all cultures. From the makeup used by Native Americans in Battle, to the extremely overdone wigs and white faces of the British army during the Revolution, and don't even get me started on the French. To those in power goes the ability to re-write history as they want it to be. So let's lose all the makeup that men have worn, shall we? For myself if I see a drama that has only aging men in hours and hours of Chinese epic dynasty type content if I even decide to watch I will be fast forwarding through the majority of their epic speeches. Talking and/or arguing heads does not make for entertaining drama. And most of us these days due to smart phones and social media have the attention span of a gnat. They are a dictatorship so they can do what they want, but countries like Korea are happy to take all their audience and $$$$. Following closely behind will be Japan (they are getting there though right now it seems to be hit or miss with quality shows) and Thailand. But I do hope they take care better care of their beautiful actors because I have read in depth stories about how difficult it is to be in a period drama. From the wigs destroying your own hair, to heavy costumes and headpieces it's definitely not easy to be a talented actor in these dramas. Add that to often being cold or wet along with the difficult beauty standards. I am amazed we have the wonderful dramas that we do. One thing I would like to tell their fearless leader....don't confuse historical dramas with fantasy. They are completely different and most of those that watch fantasies don't want to see real life or be taught lessons about morals. That goes for romantic comedies too. The most recent ones I've seen had hours of propaganda about Chinese industry and about the rich staying with their own kind. Another message recently from their government was stop pushing the Cinderella stories of poor girl meets rich guy. It has made some of their recent shows almost unwatchable. Who really wants to watch a message about "staying with your own kind?" Even though you may work hard and go to a good school you will never marry into a conglomerate as you just aren't a good fit, you know? Yes, it's a dictatorship, but entertainment is a money making industry and big budget shows are easy to kill it if you ignore what viewers want.
Just had to post again after reading comments about there being no chemistry. I don't agree, but one of the comments was about the kisses being too pretty. I loved the kisses. The ML looked like he really knows how to kiss and he looked very attracted to her. If that's too pretty, then so be it! Seriously, there are so many MLs that look like a fish when they kiss or really seem awkward and nervous. It was so cool to see a ML that seemed to know exactly what he was doing and didn't just stop at those soft pecks we see so often. There are other MLs that do this very well, but It's nice to have one more beautiful boy in the mix! It's nice to see passion and not just sweet High School kisses.
There are several dramas listed in his current work that are TBA. He is too talented not to return soon. I'm sure the production companies are seeing dollar signs about now. I still believe he was framed since the pics were three years old. Someone really wanted to set him up and get rid of the competition and perhaps there were political factors at work as well.
