To your point #4, I was thinking this exact thing the other day, especially after realizing Wu Ping’s supposed trauma is the loss of his dog. So in his mind he’s equating the dog to Ever9.
To point #2, he’s still a test model. There are various prototypes out being tested by different people with different needs. This would indicate that there is going to be some missing information, things the AI hasn’t learned yet, or wasn’t programmed to understand. While that’s kind of a cop out, it covers it enough to allow me to fall into the illusion.
Also, who knows what the future will look like? We aren’t there yet. I assume tech companies have technology far beyond what’s on the commercial market, and there are people who have access to tech our minds can only dream of right now.
We want so badly for sci-fi to be explainable, but that’s not the purpose of this show. This show is asking a different question: what does it mean to be alive? is synthetic consciousness any less worthy of respect or care? What sets our electrical impulses apart from those of AI?
We’ve only had 5 episodes. I’m hoping they will address the stereotypical gender role issue that’s been presented so far.
