If I hadn't read the novel then I might have liked this. The idea of expanding on what happens within the internet cafe is a good idea but it has come at the cost of the exciting in-game moments, which is where the drama really enfolds. Guess the budget for CGI just wasn't there.
Still, that would probably have been fine except they have somehow completely bodged the characters. Chen Guo and Ye Qui are just so badly written that I almost didn't recognise them. And the less said about wtf they did with 'little moon' the better.
Sorry, but the heart and soul and excitement within the novel is completely missing and instead we are actually watching a show about a network manager. Which is a shame as I was really looking forward to this.
