It's June 29th, and my Neflix (USA) is only showing 5 episodes. Usually if I look at "episodes" for a drama, it…
July 4th and it still only shows 5 eps. Netflix did the same with The Glory so after getting burned by that I won't start it until I see every episode is available.
I agree with this review, this was one of the best modern Chinese dramas I've seen. It made some changes from the novel (moving it from NY to Finland) and really over emphasized China's ranking in international pool (there are no men in the world's top 25 men players, and only 2 women in their top 25). Aside from those it was pretty realistic although they do tend to make the players better than any real life players are, but that's to be expected to keep it interesting. I really hope this bring some enthusiasm back to competitive pool and it can regain its lost popularity so they can get enough sponsors to televise it once again.
In the last episode Noh Hwa Young is sentenced to death. Then after the one year time skip she's still a prisoner and her son expects her to let him visit "someday"? Shouldn't she have been hanged already?
On Netflix this drama is titled "Dearest" but MDL won't show you this page if you search for it using that title. MDL has a problem with Jdrama English titles. On more than one occasion I've had to search for an actor by name and then look through the results for a matching year.
Trope-filled cringe fest. I can't believe it's at 8.9. I gave it several chances because of the rating but finally decided it only has that rating because all the KSH fangirls gave it a 10.
That kiss at the end of Ep 19 was the worst kiss in any drama ever! It was like going to a fish market and picking up a cold dead fish and having to kiss it while someone records it. We know they can do better because they do a few times later on. I don't know why that scene wasn't re-shot to look less like both actors hated each other.
Remember, boys and girls, no matter how bad your problems are or what medications you are taking, drinking until you are falling-down-drunk is always the answer. That seems to be the message this drama is trying to portray.
