Taeju's entire personality at this point is letting these evil people walk all over him. I highly doubt evil pappa Cha was ever going to let his daughter die. He recognised from experience how desperate Taeju was since it's not the first time he begged papa Cha to save his sister, the old man used her condition as leverage to get Taeju to do as he wanted and it worked. Taeju let himself be used and burnt bridges with the people most important to him. As the saying goes, there's no fool like an honest fool.
What do you expect from one person doing an investigation on a serial killer with emotional pressure. And everyone…
Thanks for pointing out the obvious, he is too prone to "emotional pressure" and which has led to bias and malpractice in his investigation and is why he was not fit to be a detective . His emotional connection was the reason he fought harder for Gi Beom than Seok Man, it's why he stopped suspecting his friend, the real culprit and it is also why he trusted that snake Si Yeong despite knowing he is a liar! Also why he gave up as the LEAD investigator of a crucial investigation , knowing many others are corrupt and not dedicated to the truth and that a likely innocent man would spend decades behind bars. But apparently, his failings are alright as long he saved his sister...
Even now, in 2026, there's still so many prejudices against single mothers. Imagine what it feels like in 1988.…
Aside from money I don't see what other benefits she gains. She won't be protected from society's prejudice just by virtue of being his illegitimate daughter, which is already seen as a negative trait. Unless the dad can secure her a marriage to legitimise the child she will struggle integrating into the upper class, be ostracised for being unwed and her child would get teased for being fatherless. I think her attitude throughout has been clear, even if she wasn't expecting , given how much she resents Taeju, blames him and finds him overbearing in deciding whats best for her, she would've cut him off .
on ep 6 but so far i find the way the cop's journalist friend and sister treat him annoying. what do they expect. he's doing his job by investigating all possible leads even if it means casting suspicion on his friends or their family members, do they expect him to turn a blind eye to evidence just because he knows the suspects? at least with his involvement they are assured he's not corrupt and wouldn't frame anyone? " how dare you suspect x when you've known him for a gazillion years " is not a convincing defense. you would think the journalist friend would know that, but she got quite angry at him for doubting their bookstore friend , makes me think she needs a new career??
No offense to the wife but they could've done without her entire character ?? she had no chemistry with either ML, did she even like her husband? And it was has hinted in flashback she wasn't even as into 2nd ML during their school years as he was. Tbf his entire obsession with her was cringe, but whatever serves the plot i guess..
Overall, a neat action thriller. Ending was realistic . Junmo went through too much, back to normal is off the cards for him. Although was hoping to get s glimpse of him and Haerung reunite. I really liked their pairing 😢
Also besides the webtoon if anyone is interested in a similar plot with a sociopathic female mc . Read keigo higashinos Journey under the midnight sun! I believe it strongly ifnluenced the webtoon author in the first place. It's a fantastic book.
Plsss im 5 mins into ep 11 now and holy cow the plot twist is so unsatisfying. There have been 0 hints at the duplicitous nature of that lawyer for the last 10 eps but im supposed to now believe hes been subduing a darker side. And to top it off hes not the only villain ,hes in a tag team with his wife, who has been completely nonexistent up until this moment 😕 Now all i need to find out is shes the girl mc pushed down stairs in orphanage and killing the husband was her avenging a broken leg 🤣
Im still watching but cant believe my eyes. First 4 eps were fun and engaging but its quicly going downhill. Mc being made to act like a complete moron. How is she suprised that the ankle monitor is tracking her location ??? at least she was smart enough to break it when she went to that boys house ??. Not so smart to remember to cover her face upon leaving though 🙄 as if thers no cctv??? and ofc grandpa gets sent a photo implicating her of killing his beloved rapist grandson. All this unravelling feels v inorganic. Currently on ep 8 and don't have the will to continue because this john wick grandpa plot is too ridiculous 😂
