this has high rating in viki but the comments here makes me hesitant to watch it. is it actually good?
I'm on ep 25 and it has become enjoyable. The first half though wasn't that good and I almost gave up. I only managed to get through it by skipping forward a lot. There are also many frustrating scenes and toxic family relationships that were really hard for me to put up with, so keep that in mind if you know it could be triggering for you.
Couldn't agree more! I'm actually quite annoyed with this drama cause it had all the ingredients to be spectacular,…
I'm currently skip-watching I Hear You (am in a bit of a drama slump atm) and Zhao Lu Si's character has been called "fat" at least twice. In You Are My Glory, Dilraba's character weighs 47 kg (103.6 lb) and she has a fit when her weight hits 50 kg (110 lb). The actress is 168 cm (5 ft 6 in) tall. I don't think I need to add more to that...
I have nothing against plastic surgery. What I have an issue with is chasing something that can never be reached, be it stopping time or attempting to alter you face or body shape to the point where you literally need to contend with the laws of physics.
And I don't see things improve at all. I've actually shut down all my social media because, despite my age, I noticed things were affecting me, too, like seeing acquaintances having a seemingly perfect life. I not it isn't true, but it still things still creep into your mind and bring you down.
Thankfully, the inhabitants of drama land are so unattainable in my mind that it's basically like watching an alien race perform on screen, but I do understand that younger generations will be impacted differently. I'm just not sure what can be done about it, tbh...

Beauty standards are getting out of hand, indeed. Asia does seem to have insane standards, not only for weight, but also for height, eyebrow shape, skin colour, nose size, and face shape and size. I certainly don't have any first-hand knowledge of these cultures and their social norms, but I have heard several Asian youtubers (specifically SK) describe some of the more toxic aspects of the society they live in. There really seems to be an enormous pressure on young people to "perform" a certainly lifestyle, regardless of whether they can realistically attain and maintain it.
Unfortunately, things don't look too good on this side of the world, either. Just watched a video on the Financial Diet on youtube about how expensive and ultimately unrealistic it would be for the average person to try to keep up with current western beauty standards, ie: the Instagram Face.
I truly am afraid for the younger generations that suddenly need to factor in costly, and potentially dangerous surgery into their near futures if they want to "fit in". It's all terribly sad.
I do hope your friends realise healthy = beautiful and that chasing a size will not make you happy.

You might be right, but that begs the question: why choose an actor who you are going to a) botch making look younger b) dub over for the whole series? Sorry, I realise I'm taking up your time with this nonsense. :)

It was really bad, and I can't figure out why! Everyone else looked fine, and this guy has half of Sephora caked onto his face. I get that he's got a prominent 5 o'clock shadow, but I can't imagine it looking any worse than what they ended up with. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The secret bio dad story was so pointless- why did they even add that? It only really made things complicated…
Couldn't agree more! I'm actually quite annoyed with this drama cause it had all the ingredients to be spectacular, but they made such a mess with the timing (and Jeremy Xu's 8kg of foundation sliding off his nose) that it kind of ended up being... meh. Having said that, the actors did a good job IMHO and there are a number of scenes that make it very much worth the watch.
Begging my self to leave the show and study i have my exams in two weaks☠💅
Tell you what, I'll wait it out with you. I don't have exams, but I DO have other stuff that definitely demands my attention. Kdramas are NOT the boss of us! 😆 Best of luck, you've got this!! 💪
Vincenzo should be #1. Probably has one of the cringiest script or dialogue ive heard in any Asian dramas ever.…
As someone who's lived in Italy her whole life, I'm in awe of how much effort Song Joong-ki put into speaking a language that is utterly alien to him. Unfortunately, he sounds like a native S. Korean working really hard to learn Italian, not the other way around. What truly helped him pull it off, I think, was his attention to body language. He managed to bridge the gap just enough for a proficient Italian speaker to be able to suspend disbelief. Bravo. :)
Jayzus, I thought it was just me! Everyone's been going on and on about the super hot chemistry between the leads, and I'm sitting here thinking my woolly socks are way sexier than these two. They have a great chemistry as siblings or, as you said, best friends. Honestly, at this point, it'd be kinda awkward to watch them go in for a proper snog...

Someone remind me again why the big, bossy baby is supposed to be oh so attractive...?
