Was the Best drama of 2025 up until Episode 37
This is only my second review on My Drama List. I've been an avid Chinese and Korean Drama watcher for about 8-9 years. This drama captivated me within the first 10 minutes! It's one of the first dramas I've watched that didn't make me use my remote to fast forward through half of every episode! I've loved every minute of every episode so far although I've only watched 4! I'm a recent fan of the ML.Spoiler Alert* This drama was absolutely wonderful up until the 37th episode when it fell apart. I tried my hardest to finish the series to no avail. I don't understand Chinese authors, screenwriters, directors or producers who are constantly churning out this terrible emotional drivel of hyping us up only to play with our emotions in the last few episodes like we're not humans with feelings by ruining the story! Is the Chinese government against romance!?! Is it due to the episode limit restrictions so things get lost in the editing room!?!
What is the point of watching "ROMANCE DRAMAS"!?! ROMANCE WITH AN EMPHASIS ON ROMANCE BETWEEN THE LEADS NOT EMOTIONAL TURMOIL BETWEEN ME AND MY REMOTE!!! I've given up on so many Chinese dramas in the past year and a half alone that I'm seriously considering strictly watching Korean dramas. Bad enough the Chinese government restrictions on drama budget wardrobe makes it so embarrassing watching the characters wearing LESS OUTFITS than I own but only 40 episodes for a rich complex story is ruining so many dramas it's a tragedy of epic proportions in my book!

Yet another poorly executed C-Drama wasting a great ML!
I really wish mydramalist would allow users to sort the reviews by lowest instead of only most helpful or most recent! There are always many 9 & 10 star reviews lately on new dramas that IMO DO NOT DESERVE ANYWHERE NEAR THOSE RATINGS! I'm wasting dozens of hours of my precious time watching drivel other reviewers have given 9 & 10 stars to that I'm having to fast forward through 50% OUT OF EVERY EPISODE! This is no exception! AND I LOVE DING YU XI! I'd pay good money just to watch him standing still! I can't get past the fact that the FL looks so much older but BOTH kept acting so much younger than they actually are! That had me constantly eyerolling and outright gagging! His acting is usually great so I fault the director and script! I could've accepted their romance as is without all of that nonsense! This drama is FULL of eye candy but that doesn't make up for the amount of side romances, side stories and the terribly chaotic main story! #1 BEST DRAMA OF 2025 IMHO! A MUST WATCH!
I LOVED THIS CDRAMA! I've watched Ryan Cheng in EVERYTHING he's ever done! I loved THIS CDrama SO MUCH I started watching it a 2nd time while waiting for the last 5 episodes to drop!Now that I've had a chance to watch all 36 episodes I am thoroughly enraptured with this CDrama, both leads and everyone else in it! I have nothing bad to say about this CDrama from start to finish! Even the secondary love story was excellent which I usually can't stand and fast forward through on 95% of CDramas I watch!
My only complaint? I which the episodes had been 45 minutes long and there were 40 of them!
The music is some of the most beautiful scoring I've ever heard in a CDrama! I've never looked for a CDrama's OST until now but this CDrama has an exceptional OST! I'm signing up on Duolingo again to finish learning Chinese just to be able to better understand the beautiful music in this CDrama! The costumes were WICKED GORGEOUS for a CDrama when usually they're notorious for using the same costumes for weeks due to the Chinese government's restrictions on CDrama costume budgets!
I CAN'T RECOMMEND THIS CDRAMA ENOUGH! Pure eye candy!

Was riveting right up until episode 27...then WTH!
Did the scriptwriter get changed/fired somewhere around episode 27!?! Chen Zheyuan carried this drama like all his dramas with a strong showing of his acting abilities. It was awesome up until it suddenly turned into a stinking hot mess that turned my stomach! I'm so tired of this kind of C-Drama. I watch C-Dramas to be ENTERTAINED with ROMANCE, ACTION AND ADVENTURE not disgusted by how stupid and gullible the writers/directors/producers think we the audience are! AND I FOR ONE WOULD PAY GOOD MONEY TO WATCH CHEN ZHEYUAN JUST STANDING STILL DOING NOTHING AT ALL!!! I almost threw my Fire remote through my TV screen...Was this review helpful to you?
If You're A Fan of Watching Painful Scenes Ad Nauseam This Drama Is For You...
OMG! Idk what is going on in Korea but why are they scraping the bottom of the barrel for material like this one!?! This abused child has been turned into the dumbest psycho villainess I've ever had the misfortune to watch! I had to drop the show halfway through the 3rd episode. She made so many STUPID decisions/mistakes by then that I wanted to slap her and I'm a pacifist! Her codependent stepbrother who apparently IS a pacifist STILL having a relationship with his Mommy Dearest Mother was over the top BS for me! I was an abused child myself and IMO none of this is realistic. The author obviously only skimmed through a few psychology courses. Idk how it's getting 10 star reviews!?! I have liked the M & F leads in other dramas but this one is NOT worthy of my time! I'm so disappointed with Viki for not posting warnings about the intense level of violence in this trash. I've loved the ML & FL in pretty much every show they've EVER done up UNTIL NOW. I don't know how this show was butchered to within an inch of its life but I've NEVER used my remote to fast forward through so many boring nonsensical scenes in my 8 or 9 years of being an avid Chinese Drama fan. I even started learning Chinese with Duolingo a few years ago so I wouldn't need subtitles but had to give up when they went to AI. I've given up on this show on Episode 30 after suffering through so much garbage I feel like a human garbage disposal. I knew from many other reviews that the first 9 episodes were problematically bad but in reality the entire drama is bad. Which is a shame because it could've been awesome. The drama's music director should never get another job - his musical scores were that bad! I don't know what show these reviewers saying it's a 10 watched but I watched a 1. Only because I can't give it a zero. This is my first ever review. I don't normally review anything but this show deserves to be honestly reviewed.Was this review helpful to you?
