The actors did good, but their characters aren't made for each other, just way different personalities and lifestyles.…
I agree. I don't understand why K-Dramas (and Korean movies) always use thid for comedic purpose. And I know drinking culture in Korean is a thing but in real life there's nothing entertaining about someone drinking too much alcohol or even having a drinking problem.
I don't know. This isn't really what I expected/hoped for. Even though Kang Ha Neul's and Jung So Min's performance was great I felt like the writing was a little off. I really hoped they would work stuff out like open communication. That there's a huge lesson for them to take away and make it better but it kind of didn't happen. So I've got to admit that I'm a little disappointed. I shouldn't have expected too much. It was really funny at times but nothing special. 5.5/10
I really like the concept of this and overall it's better than what Disney produced in the past years. But as someone who absolutely loves Cinderella (not just the fairytale but also the character) it left a bitter taste in my mouth. I kind of knew where this was going the moment someone else confirmed the prince's alibi. I really feel sorry that Cinderella didn't get her happy ending although the twist itself it really cool and bold (except for the fact it was more self-defense than a planned crime... only the way she tried to hide it). But the way she was found out and revealed by Red Riding Hood was really clever (using the glass slippers is kind of symbolic and tragic at the same time).
Red Riding Hood is really cool and smart and it would be amazing if this turned into a series. I'd kind of like it if she had a companion tho and they'd solve the crimes together (much like Sherlock Holmes and Watson but it's all fairytale).
Overall I enjoyed it and I'm not in the least bit surprised that nowadays Japan is better in "adapting" fairytales than western culture.
You are a genius. Really. My life will never be the same after watching "20th Century Girl". This movie is flawless and perfect in every way. The ending ripped me apart but it was perfect at the same time TT___TT. Coming from a writer (and I'm usually overly-critical when it comes to writing). I aspire to write stories like this. That captivate people's feelings and never let them go... I hope we will have more movies from you in the future <3
I'm in love with this movie but I'm also not okay TT___TT. This is officially my new favorite movie...
Edit: The writer of this movie is so cruel but also a genius... It has been so long since a movie captured me like this. The characters, their story... EVERYTHING.
As much as I wish for a happy ending for these two I have to admit the ending is perfect in every way. Still I'm so heartbroken 3
Wow. Love this drama ♥. Probably my new favorite historical drama. But I will never fogive these writers... If you wanna know why you can read my review <3
Before I'm going to say anything critical let me just say that Park Seo Joon's acting skills are beyond normal. Like for real. Also I loved his character and felt that despite their age gap they had a great chemistry and you could clearly see their good dynamic.
However, there are just some actions of certain characters which bothered my greatly. Especially regarding Ji Yeon. In the end she also changed for the better but I do think how she treated Dong Ha after Shi Hoon returned was too cruel (and it wasn't even her breaking off their engagement). This really left a bitter taste for me.
I felt it was made up with the last few episodes being super cute and adorable... However, while the ending is cute I would have preferred if it ended with their marriage. And let's be honest... the drama wouldn't have been half as good without Park Seo Joon (at least in my opinion) ♥. But I gotta admit I loved most of the side characters and enjoyed it overall. Not my favorite drama but surely a nice one-time watch.
I tried to watch this for the first time while ago... Had to drop after 3 episodes. Now I tried again and have to drop after 8 episodes. I really can't feel any sympathy for the ML and sorry... I can't really see where this is going. Very problematic... The only characters I really like is the cat and Jin Kang (although I really don't get her either). I love Jung So Min as an actress and she is so good in this role too. But I really can't with this drama. Sorry - I'm out (and this time probably won't be coming back).
So either I changed or I didn't pay attention the first time. I remember the first time I watched this like 2 years ago I absolutely loved it but the second time watching so many things bothered me... Like... both leads did irritating stuff (and no, I usually don't mind cliches but love them). Plus I've never realized how cute Leo is. Like I really wanna watch a drama where he's the male lead <3.
I'd try to watch further but the camera-work is so strange. Also... I don't even think it's that funny, they are talking a lot of nonesense. Can't really get into it (I guess it's just not my cup of tea).
I was wondering... does anyone know if KHJ got to read these entries before playing the role or along with the script? Because sometimes you can really tell BSJ's feelings in his expressions. Knowing this would make it even more awesome...
I absolutely love, love, love this Drama (also my bias and nostalgia for it being the very first K-Drama I ever watched thanks to "Itazura na Kiss"). But I might keep the reasons for this for a review... I just wanted to say I only discovered this mini-series recently when I re-watched the drama and I felt like these was what I always suspected about his character and it makes this couple even more beautiful (although I gotta admit you need to be able to tell reality from fiction with this drama otherwise you'd be screwed). It was so nice to read about his feelings. And I'm always amazed how complex his character is. So sad not many people understand him (still not).
I'm on EP7, and I don't think I'll be finishing this. But can anyone spoil me on why ML experiences FL's emotions…
It's kind of explained vaguely in one of the last episodes. Because Da Hyun was actually locked up/ trappedwith his twin sister and promised her to forward a message to him (that he shouldn't cry and it's not his fault). It's realy not explained well. And while I like this drama overall it was one of the plot holes (or rather cases of lazy writing) and I think they could have come up with another/better explanation. But there are some good aspects about this drama so maybe re-consider completing it (If it's not your cup of tea it's alright too). Personally I enjoyed the drama except maybe for the lack of explanations on this aspect.
the only thing i hate from this drama : bullying scene for "ugly" peopletruely hope that didn't represent the…
Unfortunately I feel like it represents today's society as a whole (which is sad but true) and I've been there personally so I rather appreciate the drama picking it up because I don't think it supports such thinking. You can see that by the way Su Ho is liking Joo Gyoung even nothing how she looks without make-up and also all her friends support her later on.
While I do think they started out well addressing such topics I felt like they could have done better dealing with it towards the end of the series. Instead of letting the girls fight with their fists I'd have liked if Joo Gyoung just showed Se Mi (I think that was her name iirc) her new self-confidence. It would have shown that beauty is not about how you look to others but how you feel about yourself and what you make out of it.
I don't think the message was brought out wrongly but I do feel there was room for some more aspects of it which is a missed opportunity. I love this drama very much but like many other dramas (especially the ones with a deeper message) it started better than it ended. I still like it as a whole but let's just say it's flawed like most dramas (I still appreciate it tho).
Honestly... This drama is amazing. But in a different way. There's so much I could write after the ending. It was so sad but also beautiful because it's real. Really makes you think about life and people.
There were some things I've noticed (initially I wanted to write an entire review but I'm totally wrecked right now. So I first need to collect my thoughts). But before I forget it... There were two things that seemed especially noteworthy about Hye Ja's Alzheimer state: 1.) In the beginning after "turning" old by using the watch (or what she thought had happened) she kept demanding to go to the beach. Later when they "escaped" these ciriminal scammers they ended up at the beach and her later imagination also featured the beach. I feel like since it's a place she went after she lost her husband it's also special to her and that's why she kept drawing connections.
2.) In the flashback of her past (reality) when she went to the police station (twice) and after her busband died, finding the police officer with his watch there... I think this was clearly projected in her mind when she made up the part about Joon Ha being accussed of murdering the chanel grandmother when she comitted suicide. The fact that there appeared a last letter "redeeming" him might stand for the hope she would have had that back then her husband would have been found innocent (whatever they accussed him of but I'm sure it was due to the time and there was no real freeness of speech in journalism).
What I'm still wondering is about the chanel grandmother... Most significant aspects of what she made up in her head ficiton + reality (her memories) at least had a connection to her real life but how does the rich woman fit in? My personal guess would be that since she had always been poor this was "another part of her" - something she never had. Maybe sometimes she regretted when she treated her son harshly and that's why she feared maybe he could abandon her. It would also explain why this lady was dwelling so much in her memories of her husband and their trip to Prague with him. Maybe the number 203 also hada personal meaning to Hye Ja.
The actors did an amazing job too with their performance. Especially Kim Hye Ja. such a brilliant actress.
And I also feel like they really connected both "worlds" well - her imagination and reality. There might be some aspects they could still have included imo (because they fit so much in 10 episodes and maybe the balancing could have been different) but this is just minor. The writers did an amazing job. Really.
Now I need to watch something light-hearted because this drama left me heart-broken on so many levels.
Exactly said, you can't defend any character by saying she had her reason, then everything wrong happening in world…
On top of that they kind of justified the fact she was seeking for love, trying to find it in different men and didn't care about who it was or if she liked them and even sleeping with them. That's something you should not teach a girl who lacks self-confidence since they are at high risk for this kind of behavior anyway, I was completely disgusted with that. If she'd have discovered that notebook's power and tried to date in a harmless way but backing off realizing it wasn't for her I'd have been alright with it (not like that would have been the right thing to do either but better). But no... Also her feeling of not being loved was based on a misunderstanding. Not relatable at all since in most cases peple who feel like that have justified reasons. If they wanted to deliver a message about self-love they did it wrong imo. I don't know why I'm still not over this :D. I guess I expected/ hoped for something better with a deeper meaning (pretty much like the drama "Queen of the ring" - but no).
Could someone please tell me what had happened between her and her father as I didn't watch the kdrama...I just…
It wasn't really explained how it worked. It simply did. There existed a second notebook written by her mom who died but it wasn't even explained how there were just two of them. And then the FL dropped things like "My mom was really scary" but she never really explained why. The relationship with her dad was kind of tainted by some misunderstandings. Sorry I don't know if this helps?
This was so bad I wonder why I finished it. Normally I would have dropped it halfway through. Really a horribly written drama. If they'd wanted to bring across the message of importance of self-love they should have done it differently. I gave this drama 2 stars for the aesthetics but the rest is just... The OST was quite nice tho and overall the actors did a great job delivering. You can't help it with a script like that it's not their fault. I even found myself very disgusted with the FL (she's pretty tho). But let me just say this was the least relatable and the worst drama I've watched in a while. Sorry to all who disagree. but that's just my personal opinion.
Just gonna put this out here... Park Seo Joon is probably one of the best actors of all time (not just in Korea but in general). His performance in "What's wrong with Secretary Kim" was no joke and I also really felt "She was pretty" - someone wrote that he'd even have good chemistry with a potato and I start to think that's accurate. Gonna try "Witch's Romance" too (although I usually don't like these types of dramas).
I'm not a fan of Marvel either but I'm so going to watch the Marvel movie with him. But only OV since I don't want to even imagine what kind of VA here would ruin this :D
Wow. I can't believe I just watched this drama. It was so beautiful and touching, with a deeper meaning. Especially the last episode left me like Wow. Usually as I watch a drama the quality gets lower and it becomes boring. With this drama it really got better after every episode *-*. I have to admit I was a little sceptical since the movie "17 again" was while a little enjoyable overall "meh" to me. But this drama is truly a masterpiece. One of the most beautiful love stories (also an umbrella scene like no other ♥). This drama is unique and beautiful. I can only recommend watching it. -0,5 because I felt so sorry and bad for Ja Sung. Can we give that boy his own romance, please?
Seriously I love all the characters also many of the side and supporting characters. Like Ji Hoon he was so wholesome this entire drama (although I didn't like him in the beginning and I never shipped him with Da Jung). Great cast and awesome acting. ♥
Red Riding Hood is really cool and smart and it would be amazing if this turned into a series. I'd kind of like it if she had a companion tho and they'd solve the crimes together (much like Sherlock Holmes and Watson but it's all fairytale).
