Agreed! In several dramas that I've seen there are at least established back stories. In love and deception for example.... there was the back/forth, love/hate dynamic but it was founded by unrequited love mixed with misunderstandings for good measure. When done right we could still have the roller-coaster of emotions with the added payoff of being entertained.
As for the jay/gun dynamics. She wasn't and isn't even remotely aware of his feelings. If he didn't work for her family he'd fit nicely into the friendly stalker category of other shows. Ohm and Meena wouldn't make a good couple because for most people once they announced the engagement the guy would have wondered why she would ever entertain him.
I understand his curiosity but it would be just that for most. I think Meena is good at mirroring the behaviors of others which gives her an advantage in working with others but leaves her scattered in her own thoughts and actions.
