Remember we see Sol at the bridge frantically calling Sunjae.....what if, she actually manages to save him in the present but dies in the process. Sunjae then goes and takes out the time capsule and learn about the whole time travel thing and the watch. And then he tries that and ends up in the timeline where we see them in their college era.... And that's the reason why he asks Sol if she's from the future because he is.
