When do they get together again after their 5 year separation and her pretense as Hanjun? Is it right before he goes off to war when she moves into the barracks with him? Or are they together from when she moves in with the family after Shen Yanqing is killed? At one point Beichen tells her she doesn’t have to be Mrs Xiao anymore but do they continue staying together because she knows he only said that for her safety ? It’s not clear at all. To me it appears that they only got together in the last episode- like how did she even get pregnant in the middle of all the wars he’s fighting?
I did not like the female lead ( characterisation not the actress) until the very end - she was only tolerable the last couple of episodes. Why do they write characters like this? How can anyone root for her? She’s so hateful , selfish and insensitive. Why does the male lead love her so much? I wanted to slap the ML upside the head for not moving on from her. While I enjoyed their chemistry and the FL is certainly very pretty I was wondering if a more charismatic or stunningly beautiful actress could have made us better understand his obsessive love for her ? I could have atleast chalked it up to obsession over a beautiful woman despite her flaws if they had cast the FL differently.
