I know I'm not supposed to compare It to the manga, but I just thought Sorim is portrayed pretty weak in…
Oh?? Well I can't find translations for the remaining chapters, but I do remember reading about Kotomi Aoki wanting it to end in March so i'm not surprised to find out it ended a couple of months ago.
I do agree most characters are pretty different from the manga, like for example it bothers me how Chanyoung seems to be so different from Shinya, or how Hankyul seems to be lacking that flavor Aki have, they did brought some elements about him that I find pretty cute (Like DUMPLINGS!), but I don't like how they handled his moodyness from the beginning making him come off as immature rather than depressed (Which is a big part of Aki's character development), however, I feel like the writers did a great job with So Rim, to me her character is the most similar to the manga, when I look at her I get these flashbacks of ramdon Riko moments and strangely, it makes me feel so joyful (No pun intended).
I thought you meant it like that because usually when So Rim gets called weak is usually because she cries a lot, so I thought you meant it in that sense aswell, i'm sorry for my confusion.

Actually I don't think So Rim strays away from the original Riko, maybe is off-putting to see So Rim crying so often over little things but in the manga Riko is no different, unless we read a different manga.

Also, although the drama is doing it's own thing, I can spot all the basics from the manga in there so I can't claim it isn't the same story, is just that the timing inside the story is off, it doesn't happen in the same timeline as in the manga, something I came to notice later on, of course that now in the final episodes things are looking different but it was bound to happen seeing as the manga has no ending yet.

Title The Liar and His Lover Spoiler
Episode 12 is a roller coaster of emotions oh my.

Well at least for me it was.

I really felt bad for Chanyoung here, I was really starting to dislike him because I thought he just don't know his place, but with this episode I felt for him, and not only did I felt for him, I also think he reedemed himself when he decided to leave so that Han Kyul could step on stage, I thought he left Sketchbook because of his frustration but it was actually because he thought that the one who needs to get back on stage is Hankyul instead of him, he knows his place fairly well, he's just trying to find the place that he belongs to.

I hate Choi Jin Hyuk, he decided to put everyone in an awkward situation and although it was a move of desperation because president Yoo threatened with closing down Sole Music N, he should have thought of everyone else's feelings, but he only thought of himself, it came off as a selfish act.

When I saw the first 2 episodes I got worried that they would get away too much from the original story, I had a feeling that this drama would turn out to be a completely different story from the manga but the episodes 3 and 4 really reminded me of the manga, 2 episodes is too early to judge so give the 3rd and 4th episode a chance, if they keep going on the route they took on the 3rd episode this can become a (Really) nice adaptation of the manga.

And they are exploring things in this drama that we didn't get to see in the movie (Due to the lack of material they had back then), all the characters that only started appearing in the 2nd half of the manga (Or even the later chapters) are here, Chan Young/Shinya's interest in So Rim/Riko is here, Han Gyeol/Aki's dorky side is here, and the new characters they made don't feel out of place.

I felt a bit uncomfortable in the first 2 episodes but after watching the third and fourth episodes my sentiments took a 360º turn, is going on the right track, I hope it don't get screwed halfway.

We should remind ourselves that this drama is a remake of the manga, not the movie, and because this is a youthful…
The manga is still ongoing so I can't say anything about the ending, but if they made something like the movie, if you don't like bittersweet endings then maybe it wouldn't be for you.

From the first episode, the vibe of the drama is really different from the movie so based on the first episode alone I think they won't try to take a route similar to the movie, since they are going for that refreshing feel good vibe I think the ending would probably be like that as well, but we've only seen the first episode so we still need to find out what the drama is really going for.

We should remind ourselves that this drama is a remake of the manga, not the movie, and because this is a youthful drama set to air during spring TvN will want to bring the sweet and funny elements of the manga as well, we shouldn't expect this to be like the movie because it won't be.

While I love that tormented Aki from the movie, his character is not as cold as everyone makes him out to be, the movie is not the real thing, the manga is, and while at first Aki is depressed, tormented and cold, as the characters developes he becomes much sweeter and funner (When the movie was made the story of the manga wasn't half as developed as it is currently, and one thing I did NOT like about the movie was the lack of character development).

I don't want to see just the emo tormented Aki, I also want to see the Aki that literally imagines a walking mushroom and then he burst out laughing, the Aki that is dead scared of cats, the Aki that gets jealous easily, the Aki that enjoys making different types of dumplings, the Aki that is so overprotective of Riko to the point she starts comparing him to her dad, if you have only watched the movie, then you probably didn't know Aki was like this.

Aki is not just that cold depressed guy the movie shows him as and because this is a Korean drama airing on spring of course they will want to bring that sweeter side of him more, spring dramas often have a refreshing vibe, if you are not here for it then is ok, we are allowed to see it differently.

I read the manga and watched the movie, i've been following this Kdrama step by step, seen each still cut and teaser and so far i'm not disappointed.

I honestly feel like everyone is judging based on the way Lee Hyun Woo looks instead of what he have showed in skills from the teasers, or his stares in all of the released still cuts, and the way an actor looks does not give an imput on how good his performance is going to be.

From what I get of course there will be changes to the story, but I have identified moments that reminds me of x scene of the manga or y scenes of the movie, based on teasers alone they are not changing the whole story which should be a good thing, changes to the story will of course happen but based on teasers I don't think the drama is losing the original essence of its source material.

And I think Han-Kyeol will be more of a representation of the Aki from the later chapters of the manga.

Sato Takeru did an excellent job at portraying the depressed tormented Aki from the first few chapters of the manga, and i'm trusting Lee Hyun Woo to show us that sweeter comical side of Aki from the later chapters.
