To me? It didn't make me believe that they were starting to fall in love.
Like, I don't know why the kiss had to be like that, but even if it was uncomfortable for the actors or if there's something on the contract that says their kisses have to be chaste, they could have done something different with it - maybe change the camera angle so their faces are close together and it looks more passionate and they're not actually kissing or something like that.
That way we get a better looking kiss and the actors don't even have to actually kiss each other.
