Idk I was prepared for a cheek kiss or smth in the last 5 min of ep 4 but I wasn’t prepared for a (reciprocated) pinky holding scene oh my god you have no idea how much I squealed I still can’t move on from it 😭😭😭😭 It’s very tinngun but I wasn’t expecting it!!! Guys I’m obsessed…. I literally waited for almost a year for this show to air. I had faith in the team behind this production as they were the ones behind some good series, but of course I had my doubts as the cast is very new and I haven’t really seen rookies with such impressive acting. However, my doubts went down the drain when ep 1 aired cos it was so so GOOD
It just keeps getting better and better oh my god I am so happy like u have no idea how I’m clinging onto this show for dear life right now.
Script is A+ I’m so enjoying their dialogues more than I should be, and the back and forth from tinn and gun that happens every damn time GAHHH chemistry is A++ my GODD I did not expect them to look THIS good. together I can’t. Their chemistry looks easy on the eyes and natural idk, u just gotta root for them!!
Lastly, I want to commend Fourth on his acting bc I always say that he really embodies Gun, like when you look at him you see Gun, not just an actor who knows how to deliver lines 🥹 his acting is just so effective. he’s showing range and it’s just the 4th ep. I’m so proud of him and he’s only 18. Boy is gonna go to places in the future!!
If you're scrolling through this comment section thinking whether or not you should watch this drama, just watch it. This is the best drama I've watched... probably ever. This deserves at least a 9.0 rating! I even made a MDL account just to comment here HAHAHA
This is definitely a stand out drama for me because of various reasons:
1. The character development of all characters is definitely admirable. It was so refreshing to watch a drama where these characters are able to learn, properly assess situations, make characteristic decisions, and act with sense.
2. The plot is solid. Each episode is aired with a purpose and the story is easy to follow. This does not follow the typical "formulaic" Chinese drama plotline where it loses its footing and begins to falter in the middle or latter third. Very dynamic and engaging!
3. I loved the main characters. Li Changge is such a badass. She is the character whom other FL characters wish to be. Ashile Sun is a great leader with a not-so-kind reputation but with the purest heart.
4. I appreciated the relationship between the characters. These relationships will make you smile and bawl your eyes out.
5. The main CP romance (and chemistry) is to die for!! I loved it. It is such a slow burn romance but SOOO rewarding. I really loved how their feelings developed. Their banter. The intimacy. The sincerity. The connection. The respect. ohmygoddd T_T GeSun #1 CP!!!!!!
6. The fight scenes are beautifully and intricately choreographed. So cool!!
7. The focus on other themes is really interesting. Don't get me wrong, although the romance here is one of my favorite things, this drama does not revolve around the romance of Changge and A'Sun. Throughout Changge's journey, she encounters pretty dark events and ideas that challenge her beliefs and help mold her to be the woman she becomes.
In one word, The Long Ballad is epic. Overall, judging by the length of this post, I thoroughly enjoyed this drama. I definitely recommend this to anyone, but particularly those who want to take a break from the stream of cdrama stereotypes. Or simply to those who are in for a ride. This one's for you.
