Yes it was announced on nov 3rd on weibo conference that s2 is in works but wang hedi will do few dramas before…
All of those things are either rumors or just assumptions of what will happen. Yes, there is logic to assuming some of these things are true; like usually credible sources, but at the end of the day there is nothing confirmed so we can't say Wang Hedi will do lots of dramas before Dafeng season 2.
I also hope Xinli won't way too long before producing season 2, because many things should not be prioritized as much as Dafeng anyways.

We don't know if he is filming any dramas before Dafeng season 2, or if it will start filming next year or later. The rumor about 将门毒后 is just a rumor, he might not have even agreed to be in it (or have been approached). Right now, the only things known about season 2 of Dafeng is that it will happen and that Wang Hedi is in it.
So when this drama initially aired, when I came to the comment section... It was mostly pretty negative... which…
This drama was just review bombed in December/Janurary because Wang Hedi has a lot of antis and haters. The majority of people who decided to actually watch it recognized it as a high quality work.
see? when a cdrama is fundamentally good they'll make exceptions. i can't wait!!!!!!bring back all the original…
It's not just because season 1 was good that a season 2 exists. It's because the original novel has 500+ chapters; and 40 episodes isn't enough to make a full adaptation that's good. So there has to be season 2 and more.
The ending was too rushed n there's really no need for a second season
I don't know why you think this, it's an obvious cliffhanger ending and the story+world building is too deep for forty episodes (hence a season 2 got announced recently).
Dylan Wang is improving tremendously in the acting department?! LOLTell me you don't know anything about acting…
You're right that OP is wrong for saying that. But based on her(?) original comment; which just compliments improved acting, you wouldn't know she would say that.
It seems like you can barely speak English, the point is hard to make out here.
If Xu Qi'an is the perfect portrayal of a Chinese youth then someone like Wang Hedi is more than perfect for playing him.
There isn't anything wrong with the budget or how it was used. Dafeng Season 1 was made when there was still a 40 episode limit, and the dramas are all made in Chinese studios. So whatever streaming service buys the rights to it doesn't change how many episodes there is or the budget.
Dafeng Season 1 is already way higher quality compared to most cdramas production wise, even stuff like Cang Lan Jue or other dramas put on Netflix don't look as good. And the cast; not just Wang Hedi, is really good. Season 1 was made like there was no extra seasons going to be made, but that doesn't mean there won't be any, because:
Tencent most likely wanted to see if Dafeng Season 1 succeeds before considering producing Season 2. Since Season 1 was a big success, the chance that Season 2 would come is not small. The only reason there is no news about Season 2 is because at best, they are planning it right now and are not ready to film yet.
They not only have the most authority, but they also have the best understanding of who the character should be because the author creates the characters... That much you have to respect. And why say you don't think Wang Hedi is the author's chosen Xu Qi'an then say readers have different interepretations?
A lot of the things you said in fact, were portrayed in the drama version. I'm sure most people here after watching the drama; think Xu Qi'an is a mischievous, cunning young man that is also has a great sense of justice.
But there are other major traits that are overlooked by others here, like Xu Qi'an an being impulsive and passionate youth. Lots of things he does are driven by sense for justice, but they're also done because he's an impulsive boy that can't stand when anything not right in his views is done. Like young people are often hotheaded and impulsive when it comes to things they think are immoral.
The part of Xu Qi'an being a hotheaded/passionate youth is also one of the reasons why someone in their 20s (he's literally supposed to be 19-22 in the novel says Baidu) is best to play them (like early-mid 20s). Anyone 30+ just wouldn't fit the role and might not understand them as well. This Zhang Yishan looks a bit too old; and he doesn't even look like Xu Qi'an either based on the official artworks I can find of the character online (compared to Wang Hedi who looks a lot like the artwork). You're disappointed about parts being cut out, but for some reason are assuming there won't be any more seasons? Up until very recently, there was a limit of 40 episodes max for dramas; so there was no way they could adapt the whole book even with cut content (which every drama adaptation of a novel has). There was no indication that these 40 episodes is all they would adapt from the Dafeng novel.
At the end of Season One there literally are lines about things like the Yunzhou case being part of book two, indicating at least a Season Two or more. Why haven't they announced a Season Two yet? Could be because they didn't know if Season One would succeed, the author started discussing with Wang Hedi about Season Two only earlier this year.
If you think your work gets adapted into film, and you don't think they adapted it well, you would definitely speak about it.
Unfortunately for you, author has said multiple, I repeat: MULTIPLE times that Wang Hedi is the perfect Xu Qi'an. He even discussed season 2 with him in Singapore. He is genuine.
I also hope Xinli won't way too long before producing season 2, because many things should not be prioritized as much as Dafeng anyways.
That said, I think Wang Hedi is definitely better than Wang Yibo at acting.

Late post but who cares.
