DID YOU EVEN THINK ABOUT THIS AH MOMENTS We get it, Joong is a pretty boy. But don’t you think it is weird that Jade is casually walking around shirtless (or even less lol) in the police open-plane office multiple times? Like when Kamin stole Jades towel, why would Jade be in the office dressed with JUST A TOWEL in the first place? Sir? Where are your clothes? I don’t think you are supposed to be THIS KIND of police officer. Even if you came from the shower room, wouldn’t you get dressed in the changing room before stepping out? But, I guess Jade in general has an obsession for absolutely inappropriate clothes. Like Joong, do you normally sleep at your own house on a random weekday in jeans AND jacket? Especially since your guest next to you is wearing PJs? And this happened multiple times. When Jade is at the box fight at the shady club. The whole scene felt so stupid to me, why are there randomly a chair and glass bottles? Like I understand that is an illegal box fight, the visitors threw the stuff in, they wanted to show that the fight was unfair and unbalanced. I get all of that. But it makes still no sense to me, like did you see the mountain of a guy? It was already imbalanced. It is a box fight, shady people bring knifes to an unfair box fight, not chairs. Visitors are there to see wild fights and put up bets, they don’t throw bottles to the competitors or want to see them bloodily killed. This just made the whole scene really ridiculous to me. BUT, no worries, Jade is our fistfight GOD and proceeds to win with just a minor injury (which we never see, since Kamin can put bandages on with the speed of light or is able to put ointment on a wound through a bandage or they were just to lazy to put makeup on for the wound). But a couple episodes after Jade wins against Hulk on crack with a chair, a knife and a bottle – he then proceeds to almost get killed in a fist fight by a middle aged small Korean man in a suit. You can’t be serious here. Have you ever seen the police raiding an international drug kings base with 7 (seven?!) people (including our fancy hat friend) and no equipment? Well, now you did, good luck trying that RL. This feels like they didn’t even try. You know how that CCTV showed that the doctor walked into Jays hospital room (episode 9) and placed the letter, which Jay then finds and leaves the hospital? All of that was only possible because the police guy, who was guarding the hospital room was already gone before. He was laying IN the bathroom IN Jays room. Do you really want to tell me Jay was IN his room (since he couldn’t leave) and somebody came in, dragged his unconscious guard IN his bathroom, in broad daylight, and then left? And Jay was just sitting there, thinking nothing about that was suspicious?
Episode 10 wholes existence? So the murderer was already revealed in episode 9, so waiting for another week for the big final (which also only took about 50% of the episode) felt kinda meaningless. But then the big finale was also incredibly stupid. Kamin runs in to SAVE Cher and Champ, then immediately proceeds to shoot Cher (while not even beeing an in charge police officer). Out of the 3 available people he decides to shoot not only one of the persons he came in to SAVE, but also the only one who was not a threat and only defending herself. Champ then kills Cher, while actively being saved by the police? I thought he was only attacking HIS GIRLFRIEND to save his own ass, but then proceeds to kill her despite being about to be saved. Kamin then loses against Pufai while he is a trained police officer with a f*cking gun and she is a little girl with a knife. Meanwhile Jade goes to rescue Jay, who was somehow captured by Puth despite Puth not leaving the house and Jay beeing outside earlier. Puth then starts a fire to kill Jay, but only burns himself. Like how useless are you? Aren’t you the super scary mastermind? Doesn’t look like it. Champ kills Puifai and the house explodes. They talked about the explosions and how super scary it is in episode 9. but actually nothing really happened. Jade and Kamin then carry out Champ, so only the three come out of the burning house. I guess Puth and Jay just stay inside? And only as a side note, Aou have you ever in your life opened a beer? Because it doesn’t look like it and the lids are obviously loose and just falling off (which I can tell since I mastered the skill you are trying to show off myself when I was like 15).
FINAL OPINION I watched this series with subtitles and acknowledge that translation differences may exist. However, nobody can convince me that above named issues where solely linguistic. I only watched the series once in total, but I was going back and forth multiple times, repeating dialogues and comparing what actually was shown because the series got me so confused, that I seriously questioned my sanity and had to check if I am blind. Am I also still human and it is possible that I did misunderstand or just missed things, let me know and I will edit it. This is not a comedy series, GMMTV is not a little indie studio, so I am expecting a somewhat realistic level of narrative plausibility. And I am so sorry to say that, and it is important that you all understand that that is only MY opinion. But I feel that this series is so bad that it is disrespectful to fans and artists. GMMTV gives me as fan the feeling that they think they have to put no money nor effort into a series as long as they put a fans favorite couple onto the screen and will get away with that. The series was like 90% unnecessary or nonsense dialogue between Joong and Dunk and stiff romantic interaction. I have seen a lot of the actors in other series and I do know that they can do way better, but the script was really unforgivable here. That leaded into an, in my eyes, really bad performance which might seriously hurt the artist’s and company’s reputation. Please just imagine this would be the first series you would ever see of Joong and Dunk or GMMTV in general. I am pretty sure you would never ever watch anything of that ever again. So please GMMTV, I know you CAN do better, then please do so.
TL;DR summary – FOR LAZY READERS HOW DOES THE MAIN PLOT EVEN WORK? - The game mechanics are not explained and the game is not following any structure - Characters will die no matter what they choose, even after completed dare tasks JADE AND KAMIN - Kamin is supposed to be a strict and unapproachable supervisor, but he keeps losing his whole personality - Jade is supposed to be a caring community hero who is secretly somewhat lonely, but has no shame flirting openly and has a terrible relationship with his brother - Their character’s act inconsistent and their relationship develops too fast THEY DO ANYTHING BUT INVESTIGATE - They barely investigate anything at all (no family, home, university connections) - They only follow one minor trace - Autopsy information appear late or never - Basic investigative steps, like verifying alibis or understanding the rules of the game itself, are completely ignored - Police spending their time on dates, cleaning the house and swimming happily while multiple people are dead DO YOU HAV ANY MOTIVATION TO BE ALIVE OR DO YOU AT LEAST WISH YOUR FRIENDS TO NOT BE DEAD? - Avengers don’t put any effort into stopping the murderer or helping the police to do so - Dead students appear to be a minor inconvenience - Nobody is afraid of dying, a lot of them just meet up with the murderer on purpose CONSISTENCY WHERE? - Scenes have random orders and give no explanation to time, place or reason - Connected important scenes are too far away from each other DID YOU EVEN THINK ABOUT THIS AH MOMENTS - The hat guy is somehow in the special ops team and in Kamins backflash from the U.S. at the same time - Jade has no idea how to properly dress himself, towel in the office, jacket in bed - The box fight scene throwing chairs. Jade wins a fight against a giant professional box champion with a knife but then almost get killed fighting a middle aged Korean man - Police raiding international drug king with 7 people, no equipment - Jays bodyguard is unconscious in Jays hospital bathroom while Jay was in the room the whole time - Episode 10 is meaningless since the murderer was already revealed, police is also shooting on victims. People randomly teleport in and out the house. FINAL OPINION - Weak writing, inconsistence logic and heavily relies on the main pairing – which is not working - Actors and production are capable of more but the weak writing results in a performance that may unfairly affect their reputation and discourage new viewers - Overall a promising concept with a terribly execution and GMMTV should aim for higher
