What just happened?? They’ve lived together as brothers and they do not interact?? A brother lets bullies push…
It's one of the most believable things I've seen in BL, no overplayed heroism you would rarely see in real life.
Siblings, even blood related ones, often don't interact much, "hate" between siblings is pretty common, statistically speaking, the older the siblings are, the higher the percentage of those who outright hate each other, often without actual reasons.
It's a very well known phenomenon in psychology, so not unrealistic at all.

I agree. The "soul" (personality) and the body are not separate, they are both part of what makes someone who…
I meant that it would have been fine if the characters are clearly identified as bisexual, personalities per se are sexless, and if he's physically attracted to both anyway then it wouldn't be much of a problem, the "I love you for your soul" could even be touching.
Well, it's indeed a slippery slope.

Only watched 3 episodes and waiting for it to finish before I binge the rest, but why is the rating so low? Am I hallucinating, wasn't it over 8?
Please don't tell me it went downhill so much, the first three eps were so cute...

Please believe me, you're worrying for absolutely no reason! According to the novel, the story is 100% gay and…
I know, the community has the same problems with the novel, they just don't care much about it because BL novels are niche and have a fixed audience, they worry mostly because a visual adaptation reaches a lot more people and can easily mess with the viewer's perception of real gays.
That being said, going by everything I read now, they didn't have the intention to portray gay people in a faithful way and the director seems to block people who question/criticise any aspect of the drama, apparently even asking for clarification gets you blocked (at least people claim that he does it).
Idk what to think anymore, it's just another case of boy/boy for female viewers, so I don't quite get all the anger that's going around on social media like it's something new, the community is properly just tired of being used as a money maker.

Prime example of "gay romance" made by someone who isn't gay, for people who aren't gay.Dude is in a girl's body,…
To clarify for people who see this later, I looked through official tweets and it's NOT marketed as "gay", not even as "BL" by any official channel on twitter, the most official thing I've seen calls it a "romantic adventure" and even that is from a third-party.
There are some independent outlets using BL and gay, none of them are affiliated with the production in any way.
If I get everything right (my Thai isn't perfect), the outrage comes from the Thai-gay community solely based on that it's (loosely) a m/m story they think of as misrepresentation, basically, they feel addressed by it partially because the production team didn't make it clear that it's not "gay".
Pretty messy situation on some social sites, seems mostly like a lack of communication and vague marketing.
Edit: And some people claim they got blocked for asking about it, not sure whom they asked though.

Was this actually advertised as "gay" series in thailand ? I didn't pay that much atention to the adverts but…
Most of my friends are Thai and Chinese, that's why I trust them when they say the local community disapproves of something. It can still be a case of social media misrepresentation that somehow overshadowed the real intent behind the series, if I remember correctly, the same happened last year with a "gay drama" that wasn't meant to be one (can't remember the name).

Ah, I see, now I understand what you mean. Yeha, it really depends on where someone is from, "queer" didn't even exist in the countries I'm connected to, some people start to use it but it wasn't a concept we had until a few years prior and it's mostly used by high-school/university kids, so far outside of my age-range.

A friend said that yes, it was promoted as a "gay love story" on social media, but I'm not 100% sure if it came directly from the producers or LGBT media just claiming it is.

Bisexuality exists.
That would be bi/pansexual, not gay, if you aren't from a country that uses those terms in a very unique way.
It's important for the community and activist work to use terms appropriately, we came up with them to organise us, find people who are like us, and form sub-groups fighting their individual battles, like the right for lesbians to get in vitro fertilization, or HIV campaigns for gay men.
Of course everyone is free to identify as whatever they want, but they have to face the criticism that is (in most cases) justified.
Edit: I didn't mean to go all political on you, sorry, it's just a very heated topic.

Bisexuality exists.
No, gay means either male/male or female/female, though it depends on your country, in some "gay" is reserved for m/m while f/f goes by lesbian or sapphic.

I didn't watch it yet, but I've heard that Korn sees Win as him even though he is in a female body? Did they change…
Yeha, he sees him as Win, that doesn't change that the body he's in is actually female. It's "I love you for your soul", which is the problem the gay community has with it.

Bisexuality exists.
That's what I mean, it would have been splendid as a bisexual story because it would contradict the notion that bi-people are only after sex instead of real love, but as a "gay romance" it's just plain wrong.
On Cupid's Last Wish Feb 21, 2022
Prime example of "gay romance" made by someone who isn't gay, for people who aren't gay.
Dude is in a girl's body, no matter how they might try to twist it, the message they send with it is seriously messed up, attraction is based on personality + body, gay people like the same sex exclusively, stories like this one make it seem like you could easily be straight if you find the right person. "I love you purely for your soul" is a dangerous trope for gay stories, there's a reason why gay writers never use it and the gay community is outraged by it.
Could have been fine as a pure LGBT story/bi representation, but marketing it as "gay romance" is fucked up.

This show could have been great but I can't stand the FL, I don't understand why most female characters in Korean dramas are so damn annoying and unlikeable, it's like the majority of writers never met a woman in real life, otherwise I can't explain where this completely skewed portrayal comes from.

I wasn't sure if I should give this a try until I read your comment, "suits" and "sharply dressed" sealed the deal.

No way... my favourite evolution-horror might get an adaptation?!
I should be happy but instead I'm just sad, I can't bear to get a completely butchered version of this, my hope that Korea or Japan buys the rights and does a proper one has been shattered.

After the 50 shades of grey disaster, I'm most afraid of this turning out far removed from what BDSM actually is, I don't want to see another misrepresentation.
Please, oh mighty kink-gods, give us explicit consent, after care, and a normal relationship outside of their bedroom.
