yes agree with what you said above...and the name of the divine herb happens to be called Zhu Yu, so perhaps his father cultivated that herb for him, knowing at some point he would need it (since Zhu Yu was originally supposed to have the Demon Infant in him instead of Wu Zhen). I loved this drama! It was just so well done, from story, to actors, to the characters and their personalities, to the cinematography, the music, ... love, love, loved it!
I think they will explain later. But if you remember, the top recruits caught Xiao Jue’s eyes from the get-go. It was He Yan and Lei Hou since they were the most experienced among all the new recruits. I would also guess it is his fighting style that may have caught Xiao Jue’s attention.
