When I was watching, there were some parts that I thought were weird, including the music scene and the governor doing opera scene, which you mentioned in your article. I understand now why those scenes were dramatized in those ways! Wow, it's really interesting how theatre/opera are all connected and woven into this drama which I had never realized before! Thank you for this. I will watch again with more discerning eyes, now that I have a better appreciation of the cultural artistry involved. I really enjoyed The Double even with the weird scenes upon my first watch, but now I'm loving it even more.
