Technically this drama aired in 2022, but I want to say this has been one of my favorite for beginning of 2023. Mainly because Bu Yin Lou is such a refreshing female lead character. Someone mentioned below that we won’t be seeing another female character like her, and I second it. She did amazing in the last few episodes. Granted she got a bit crazy towards the end, but that’s the beauty of her character. Can’t fight physically, but can out smart mentally. The scene with her in the red wedding dress was a masterpiece; crying and laughing.
I LOL when Xiao Duo threw the sword into fire and Bu Yin Lou’s comment. So witty.
Despite the god knows how many deleted and cut scenes there are, I still very much enjoyed watching. The chemistry was on point, I don’t care what others say, BU YIN LOU AND XIAO DOU HAVE CHEMISTRY! (Excuse my all caps). Hope to see alternative ending BTS online. Both Dylan Wang and Chen Yu Qi did amazing. I applaud.
Anyways, I had fun reading everyone’s comment here and this is the most of ever interacted on a feed. So thanks to those that responded or shared. Onward to Dylan Wang’s drama with Bai Lu and Chen Yu Qi’s movie Sakra!
I'm not sure what goes on externally since I mainly stay within the Unchained Love discussion topic on Weibo and…
Indeed, as magnolia cream mentioned. I'm not sure if the Unchained Love casts can see the comments, but they were doing a live video chat and fans can send messages into the chat. There were many saying Dylan Wang belongs to the other co-star actress and that the other co-star actress is prettier or better for him than Chen Yu Qi. I'm sure main lead characters were amazing together in Love Between Fairy and Devil and that is why the CP is huge. Granted this is their profession, and can probably dismiss these kind of comments. Just thought it was not necessary as the entire cast was there to promote Unchained Love.
Dylan Wang is filming a drama with Bai Lu and I just adore her as an actress. I saw similar comments under leaked photos. Hm I hope CP fans would be a bit kinder as it is a profession. After filming is done, actors and actresses will move onto the next project and we're just left with the performance they completed. Again, no hate. Just an observation.
I'm curious on the topic of CP, is it good for the actors/ actresses? Probably isn't a good idea to bring this comment up, but just wondering. I saw a video of Unchained Love casts promoting this drama and comment session from fans were not umm specific to Unchained Love at all. Kind of made me feel really bad for the actress.
As someone that watches many c-dramas, I never really ship the actor and actresses playing the roles of the characters in real life because at the end of day it is just a drama. I think Xiao Duo and Bu Yin Lou are super duper cute together in this drama. After this drama ends, I'll probably move on try Love Between Fairy and Devil and think that drama main characters are cute together. Am I making sense? Really no hate!
I feel bad for the actors and actresses in this drama. They worked so hard just to have scenes be cut out. Like kiss scenes are hard! Just imagine the built up tension on boat scene and we didn't even get to see the complete interaction...
Yes I also dont like her wide blank stare. It put me out of the story sometimes. Her acting in Mirror A Tale of…
Hm yes, I agree with you. :) They didn't match well. There were some behind the scenes that other viewers shared and those made them seem comfortable with each other more so in the drama itself.

Oh I watched this drama, mainly for Li Yi Feng. I think it is the way her character was written, as Bai Ying was more reserved, sad, and cold due to her story. I also read that many enjoyed Na Sheng in the drama more because of her bubbly personality that lighten up the mood in the drama. I think female characters such as Bai Ying is hard to play and I appreciated that Chen Yu Qi did her best to portray her in the drama. But overall, the drama was poorly directed with way too many cut scenes as well. I didn't enjoy Li Yi Feng in there either.
Why pp talk about Yuqi again ? it's not blank tho, the problem is pp just do not pay attention. In Cdrama, emotional…
I agree! I don't think the edited scene does Chen Yu Qi justice. Crying scenes are not easy, but she was able to form tears so naturally. Seeing two small tear drops just waiting to fall from her lower eyelids, captivates me. Also, not sure if it is the lighting of the scenes shot, but whenever she smiles, there's a small white dot in her eyes that causes me to pay attention. It's alluring.
I started watching Song of the Moon and didn't realize she was a guest star in the drama. She played Ling Xue Yang and it was so good! I would say her acting is bit better than the female lead in the drama. But I understand many have different preferences of what defines good acting, I'm happy Chen Yu Qi played the role of Bu Yin Lou because now I can't really imagine any other actress fit for the role. :)
I love Chen Yu Qi! Bu Yin Lou is such a strong female character, knows how to fight for herself. Even after the pain of pushing Xiao Duo away, she regains herself and out smart Empress Rong An. Even though it is sweeter to have Xiao Duo next to her, I enjoy watching her figuring things out for herself. She is indeed trying her best to protect Xiao Duo in return of him always there for her. LOL when her plans to get "kidnapped" by Empress Rong An got ruined by Xiao Duo when he ordered Yu Qi Lang to follow and protect Bu Yin Lou.
Also, I think I missed the moment when Cao Chun Ang started calling Bu Yin Lou "Gan niang" (god mother). Lol.
Based on previews of the boat scene, my guess is when Yu Qi Lang told Xiao Duo that Bu Yin Lou used his ring to make demands that's when Xiao Duo comes to his senses that she still loves him and goes to see her. Now we have to wait until Sunday for next episode so sad... time to rewatch.
I couldn't figure out who Xiao Duo and Bu Yin Lou (their interactions) reminded me of, but I finally got it! Their interactions and relationship progression remind me of Shen Yan and Liu Ling (played by Zheng Ye Cheng and Yuan Bing Yan) in My Sassy Princess. Cold guy and funny/ quirky girl, slowly guy becomes soft because of girl. That drama also had a lot of cut scenes, but you can sense the chemistry between the main leads.
Anyways, I rewatched all the episodes since we're getting to the peak of the drama now. Realized how many times Xiao Duo's ear turned red when with Bu Yin Lou LOL.
Is there anything that can be done about the scene cutting? The flow messes up the plot so much. Nonetheless, episodes 19 and 20 still tugged at my heart, funny and sweet. Just wished we had the full Xiao Duo and Bu Yin Lou moments before the painful return to palace...
Bu Yin Lou is such a witty character. Without her, I don't think Xiao Duo would become a rounded character (more than just a fake eunuch on the road for revenge). We can now see his more carefree side.
I adore Chen Yuqi. She really fit this role. Sometimes actors/actresses just need that special script to shine. Also can't forget about chemistry. Chen Yuqi and Dylan Wang seem very comfortable with each others presence as seen in not only the drama but also in behind the scenes clips. The acting performance becomes real and brings the entire storyline together. Its evident many scenes were removed that were essential to Bu Yin Lou and Xiao Duo's relationship progression, but I'm sure if those scenes were present, we'd find the drama more flowing and sequenced.
Anyways, the recent episodes got me laughing so much! Bin Yin Lou's witty response and directness keeps everything interesting. Like the ship fight, when Xiao Duo asked "why did you come back?" and Bu Yin Lou said "I didn't want to either, but I just can't control my legs". When she tried to pull the arrow from his chest and he just pulled it himself. Xiao Duo - "Didn't I get hit, why are you screaming?" Bu Yin Lou - "I saw you not screaming even when in pain, so I help you scream." And feeding him all them pills. It's hilarious! Her responses are quick, sharp, and without hesitation. His pauses as if a crow is flying across his brain. I love it! I also love female main leads that own up to their feelings and take action, rather than wait for the males to make the first move.
Everyone finding Tong Yun annoying, but I tried to see her as Bu Yin Lou's wake up call lol. Without Tong Yun's constant nagging, Bu Yin Lou wouldn't have gone into Xiao Duo's room. XD. It's like 'if you tell me to not do something, I will do it just because you told me not to'.
We're only on episode 16 and already getting all the feels from these two that I really don't want it to disturbed by Murong Gao Gong...
When Bu Yin Lou ran to Xiao Duo, but fell flat and looked up with crying face...and Xiao Duo's hesitation to help her. I diedd. So on point and funny! XD
I'm really enjoying this drama so far! I've only ever watched Dylan Wang in Meteor Garden and I have to say his acting improved so much. He has that "I don't care" eyes that brings Xiao Duo to life. I'm anticipating on his character development as he continues to interact with Bu Yin Lou. I'm also a fan of Yukee Chen. Even though many find her expressionless and acting dry, I feel she portrays Bu Yin Lou very well. Her expressions during humorous moments make me laugh out loud. Scenes with both of them together is just icing on the top; adorable and funny. Especially in episode 8, their interaction was just so natural that I couldn't help but to smile the whole time watching! XD
Right now there is a balance between humor and seriousness; it's light-hearted yet dark. But I'm sure with the plot, it'll only be getting more dark.
