I promise I won't let the reviews sway me . I always take a review as a suggestion. I prefer to watch something ,at least the first 5 episodes and make my own opinion whether I like it or not. I don't trust reviewers 💯 because people have personal tastes that differ and what if the reviewer hates the artist 😭 it influences how they review. And some reviewers are bought influencers 😔so I can only trust myself to see if I can like a drama or not. I have been pleasantly surprised sometimes and I have end up loving something everyone is hating on 😁

Because I loved the dram so much, I have so much to say my apologies in advance. I'm really impressed with how nuanced this drama in terms of it's human relations exploration and potential repercussions

1. In her 1st life the female lead felt cheated of her parents love, place in the family and society. The parents she had didn't help 😔. The devastating consequences that came because of wanting what was supposed to have been hers were terrible. She used people to get to the top because as the owner of Kunning Palace you have the social status.

People have to respect you as the queen and some would just love you because of the position of queen. Some love you for real or they love you for the benefits they can get. This doesn't matter as the underlying objective has been achieved i.e to be loved adored and respected to have a place, station and standing in society . If I'm not going to get one from my family I will fight for the top spot. This illusion of love is what she craved and drove her in her 1st life. Like our male Lead girl was simply looking to be loved.

2. She comes back in her second life knowing now that some people in her 1st life loved her to the point of death. She was lovable and we see her very quick developmental arch into what she could have been and actually is. This beautiful, fiercely loyal to a fault, fearless woman who when she loves, loves without barriers. Gives her all including wealth 🙂 better person than me. She is just beautiful to watch her blossom.


How the female lead loved was one of my fav things to watch as the story went on. It juxtaposed perfectly and counter balanced Xie Wei angry, vengeful persona.

She loves Yan Lin fiercely and the best because:

3. She gives all she can, sells valuable property and even asks her father for help. She goes to the person she fears and wants nothing to do with to save Yan Lin. As this is not enough she personally put herself in danger for Yan Lin. 😂 Crazy girl. I have good friends but best believe I'm not giving you all my wealth and putting life on the line for you 😭 I'm a terrible person like that. This is why I say she loved Yan Lin fiercely and the best.

But who wouldn't love Yan Lin. He was a lovable rascal who grew up to be a man of integrity. Yan Lin was absolutely the best guy. Sweet, morally upright, justice warrior and he is not greedy. His only goal in life is put his life on the line for the peace of the kingdom. I would never marry this man I like my husbands alive. He would make me have a heart attack every time he left the house but he was so cute.

4.She loves Zhang Zhe to the point that she would rather hurt him than destroy him in the future. It was clearly a question of which is the lesser evil. Zhang Zhe truly loved Jiang, warts flaws and all but they would have absolutely destroyed each other in the end. No love can sustain difference of values, outlook of life and how to do things. You have to be in sync on some things not all but on most things especially the relationship deal breakers

All they had were the love stares and touches i.e the pottery scene. They couldn't agree on how to approach a situation. So how can two cows hitched going in the opposite direction of each other ever farm anything. Their differences would have grown exponentially as they stayed together and Jiang would have felt caged and would eventually leave.

Both are strong characters, unyielding in their resolve. A stick that does not bend will be broken. A Chinese proverb. They would have ultimately broken each other and it would not have been pretty. They were a bad match for each.


She loved Xie Wei gradually:

I personally prefer this type of love where you get to know the person and come to terms with what you can live with and what you cannot. You are open, grow with each other and willing to compromise because of love.

All the guys loved her and would have protected her but she would have walk over Yan Lin who was too infatuated with her and thought she did no wrong. She would be unyielding to Zhang Zhe, who clearly loved her but questioned her moral compass. She needed Xie Wei who was strong, vulnerable but also yielded to her like water.


what makes Xie Wei the best man for her and not just the offical OTP is that both have complex childhood backgrounds. Both were raised harshly in varying degrees but both were clearly raised without love. Yan Lin had his family, Zhan Zhe has his mother. In essence only Xie Wei really did understand her. Both could give each other what they lacked and both could love each other fiercely willing to give their life for each other.

Also an understanding of their type of upbringing makes it easy for both to understand that you can be a good person but make questionable decisions. And sometimes questionable decisions need to be made for the right outcome. They know life is not a perfect rose tinted garden. Added bonus they are both incredibly smart.

Her love was all bows and sparkles you could see that when she loved you , you felt happy and felt like you were the chosen one. I swear I could see the guys flying lol wheneve she even smiled or looked at them. That is how much power she carried. His love was dark, all consuming that it swept you up in it's desperation and intensity. Together they were the perfect day and night perfect compliment. Perfect Yin and Yan

Ps I would have preferred if she loved Yan Lin and married him. He was my no. 1 guy for Ninger personally. However I'm absolutely obsessed with Xie Wei and giddy she chose my fav character because it reinforces that my choice is the best, because Xie Wei is best. but I know she got the best man for her.

Thank you for your recommendation of Love Like the Galaxy I have already watched it and I loved it. I wrote it above that it's one of the dramas I watched and loved . Story of Kunning Palace sits right up there with Love like the galaxy, nirvana in fire, ming Dynasty, Royal Nirvana . As in good acting, good script, tight story line. Little dragging and fillers. Love like the galaxy, Story of Kunning Palace are A+++++ in.my book. And I am obsessed with both leads

Love between fairy and devil is not my cup of tea. I generally don't do romance. I am more of a political machinations, people's heads being chopped off, a little poison here and there and a good fight scene. After the 9th episode of Love between fairy and devil this was me "😞why am I watching predominantly 2 people on my screen giving each other morning dew and fixing a destiny book. Where is the rest of the cast. I thought Canyan Sea was supposed to be at war and there was no fight scene. How can I tell how strong Dongfang is if he ain't fighting. They didn't even utilize well the dragon second in command. I thought dragons are supposed to be powerful 😔" It's almost like they just want me to watch Dongfang and orchid fall in love. I prefer an ensemble cast with multiple layered stories. I would love love more recommendations along the lines of Royal Nirvana, Sword Snow Stride, Yanxi Palace 😁

I can't believe I opened this account because I loved this drama very much that I had to look for people to scream with because I was that impressed.

New to Chinese dramas because I love periodicals and my current western roster of historical periodic shows is at an all time low. But my word I don't regret finding Chinese periodicals by chance as I was rewatching Couching tiger Hidden Dragon but thank you China for feeding me.

I have to say I am obsessed with the the leading man. HE WAS LEADING. Excuse me for shouting but he was just brilliant for me. Now that is how you lead.Practically carried the show on his shoulders.

If you can make me curse, cry, angry or make me emote I personally think you are a stellar actor. And the lead actor did that and more. Felt sorry for him for his poor life and the distortion on human relations. Cried with him at his reunion with the maternal family and I hated his paternal family with intensity for him .

And the whole cast did a superb job. Whoever did the casting needs a raise. Everything just worked. Everyone acted their socks off. My favs who stole the show were Xie Wei's guards. I wanted more of them fighting and their story to be fleshed out 😭 And I wanted to know where they ended up after Xie Wei married.

Just finished watching Sword Snow Stride, Joy of life, Nirvana in fire 1 & 2, Love like the Galaxy, Legend of Hao Lan, Ming Dynasty, Story of Yanxi Place 😁 and and I have loved all the above dramas. And this one just sliding right next to the above dramas. A scrumptious masterpiece.💅

Now off to watch Secret of the Three Kingdoms and the newly dropped journey to love but I will be back to scream about Xie Wei.❤️
