well, I don't know how to put it, but, I hate the female lead... her actions does not match her words... "I want to live with my own strength", yet all through the ep she's acting like a helpless person.. you lost a shoe, buy a 1 dollar slipper, or wear plastic bags like nauen's dad in TROS...
sure, she was "trying" to help herself get free of that creep, but she could've just called the cops...
at the end of the day, a guy saved her for both of those..
she's hiding herself as her friends housekeeper, yet she did everything he'd hate and set herself for failure..
she's a mix of Gil Oh Sol from CWPFN and Jung Jung Won from RW... ie, the type of character every drama writer goes for... I've seen Twenty Again, and I love it, so "old and hopeless" could be used well, if they don't focus too much on the hopeless part... I skipped alot of her crying scenes, but I'll give it one more chance...
the guy is no better... he's her friend, he loves her, he let her get married, and he does not listen. at all... ever... I wonder how the female lead stayed his friend, he feels like a burden..
one of the best things about this is how short it is, both the duration and the ep count..
I skimmed through the article for the 2nd season, but do they want more than 1 extra season? every year? this seems to be draggier than I thought, one thing I love about kdramas is that it ends with 1 season, and not 100 seasons like american shows ;)
the worst thing I found was that one scene in ep1 that was more sickening than scary, and the overall "jump scare", but as I watched ep2 & 3, it was less scary, and the beheadings are hilarious ;)
also, not a good choice for the "last drama of the day", I forgot how much of a scaredy cat I was ;)
I'm typing this as the ending credit and it's creepy background music is still playing and I'm getting more scared xD
the clock in my house is ticking loudly, and there's this weird breathing sound in my living room....
and watch this too, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QPKjNaZ37Ic
and num5 too, I love that kind of voice, and I love it more when it comes from an unexpected person.. aaand, I was glad kwill lost xD
also, I KNEW that voice, I was so confident and I was right, I love that voice TT^TT
the comedy is too in your face, but it really made me laugh several times, so I guess it's my type of comedy xD
I don't get how Kim Kwang Gyu fits in the story, he's whole screen time is completely unrelated to the main leads...
bom il is really funny, bom sam is too forced in the story. and I just got chills!!! bom il is Kim Nam Hee! the crazy psychopath in MS is the funniest guy here!! I was waiting for him to show up, but I didn't recognize him xD
I hate the cheating husband, the brat kid and the two faced friend, I feel bad for lee bom, and I wish for a huge sismance between her and kim bomi.. lol, they have so many boms ;)
I mean, both "villains" are pretty well known actors and they are in the poster so there's not much "mystery"...
Most kdrama or movie mysteries end up a "rich known dude and his psychopathic son who takes after him" or a "gangsters kidnapping women so they can sell them for either body parts or for crazy rich dudes fantasies".. :)
this is more like an 8 or 8.5, but again, it's always a pleasure to see more Ma Dong Seok, so I give it a 9 ;)
the acting was great, the "mystery" and the plot were slightly weak, I got distracted after the 1 hour mark, then after 15 min they threw in a few "twists", then they spent the remaining 20 min trying to "wrap things up".. basically for a 1 hour 35 min story it was ok...
the subs were understandable though I found myself "understanding" alot of the dialog without even looking at the subs ;D
my favorite scene was when he broke down that door with his fists xD
he's a literal hulk ;)
I liked both main girls, I related to their perspectives..
guy num2 had a big inferiority complex, and girl num3 was way unnecessary, the only thing I didn't like was the fact that girl num2 was the one who told girl num3 to go after guy num1 when they knew he had a girlfriends and yet she'd have hated it if someone was after her own bf ;p
at this point I can handle badly subbed movies ;)
so I downloaded the movie from a torrent, then used the subs from here https://subscene.com/subtitles/the-soul-mate
I wish I didn't find this until it was fully out, they uploaded the sixth ep 11 hours ago, so I think the next ep will be next week? ;(
I knew it wasn't a simple "sad vr happy" ending, but this is really one of those well rounded endings, everything was solved, nothing was left out, and I guess, their main message was about hope and happiness...
I'm being shallow here, but for me, it gives me hope that beautiful dramas like this exist, though it makes me sad not enough people give something like this a shot..
the acting was amazing, not only from Lee Sung Min, but every character was great, and the whole story and the development was beautiful, almost every dramas talks about "revenge" and "forgiveness", but what this drama did was just so realistic and beautiful..
