Disgusting, I'm not even talking about the blood
right from the moment the movie starts, even before a scene comes up, they start with the most disgusting chewing sound and it keeps happening all through the 40min I watched.. they keep chewing and slurping so loud while talking I just couldn't take it anymore...I never got the reason why audio directors choose to do such an uncultured move, it adds nothing to the plot beside showing how disgusting those characters are.. gangs have no manners fine but spare my poor ears...
talking about the plot is was nothing special. non of the reviews make sense but atleast the ratings reflect better. they had nothing but gangsters nagging and being disgusting while the ML and FL brooded over stuff.
it's ironic, I've seen many movies with blood and gore but maybe as I grow up I realize I don't need to to force myself through something added just to look edgy
many movies dealt with it better, they added blood well enough without it being thrown everywhere
now for the only good points, the acting was great on both leads, they had great charisma, sadness with a touch of naiveness from the ML, but I'm assuming he'll avenge the people who killed his sister and niece, and the FL joins him and alot of random shootings will happen, then the evil guy will turn out to be his boss or whatever...
the lighting was also nice but that was it..

I get the concept but the execution is boringThe backstory has been done so many times it’s annoying
either it's a child abusing army camp or it's a cult church, and add bullying but then connect all 3 and it's so eyeroll worthy how everything goes wrong for them
the gore and torture was also skip able and overall everything was so flat

I'm a huge fan of supernatural fantasy.. I've read many many books like The Summoning, Vampire Academy, Echoes and many others plus tv shows like Tower Prep, No Ordinary Family and more. so I kinda have high expectations, and frankly I was not impressed by this.also, the shallow side of me preferred more effort on their uniforms, most high school dramas (korean and american) use it to distinguish the identity of each student, or use better quality fabrics. and they needed better hairstyles. kun and claire were the only kids with nice hair. taking care of your hair doesn't mean your rebellious or into fashion ;p
now to the spoiler part;
for one thing the lack of cgi or any type of effort was disappointing, sure most of their talents didn't need anything special, but the best thing they did was shine colorful light at people and called it "super powers".. maybe pun's identity crisis was their maximum level of cg..
on the other hand and the biggest disappointment was their plot of course... for one thing the villain was too 1d, and his only crime was that he mistreated the kids, which brings me to pung only wanting to "expose" the ranked system and the way the principle/ceo divided the kids.
I mean if you come across kids with special powers, why just make a shallow clique system? you need to build a whole school just for them and spread the "exam" that identify the kids to the whole country~ think big or go home ;p
also, they needed to teach the kids how to control their powers and improve. with this and a teacher like pom it was like releasing the power and letting the kids figure it out on their own while the other students became collateral damage.
I also really disliked their repetitive episodic pattern, they'd show 1 kid realizing their potential, just to get in trouble with the side effects and throw in some angst and it's over, then on to the next one...
what was the point of the class? it only gave them benefits over superficial luxury.
fast forward towards the end, and boom we have a villain that can't get to the point, tbh I find it weak writing when I get the point 3 mins before the character actually says the punchline... I figured out pom was just a puppet, and his story ruined the character for me, his friend could've just talked it out..
on the other hand I also figured out ceo guy had the same powers the moment he stopped the pawns, but it took them +5 mins for him to say it as if it was a twist.
on the other hand Teacher Ladda seemed suspicious, like the time she told the reporter girl "you'll forget everything" I thought she had powers too or she was an anti gifted club so she wanted to take their powers away or something but no she was just a tool too..
overall they tried to be clever but the plot was simple..
now, I did like the powers and their side effects, though I didn't like the background story around each student beside Mon. they had 2 guys that fell for the wrong girl so they became angry, and one girl that wanted everyone to love her and a few others, but Mon had a strong attachment to her sports club and friends and her side effect was the saddest one tbh...
I don't have much to say about the acting, and the ost was just mediocre, plus I never rewatch stuff. I might also not bother with a 2nd season unless it has a better production quality~

if I had to choose 3 dramas that can kinda reflect on my drama preferences, then this drama would be num1. it has everything I look enjoy in any type of show;
1- strong independent smart yet soft and awkward female lead
2- clean cut cold dark traumatized male lead that is naive and clueless
3- a beautiful elegant smart fashionable business woman
4- a brutal messy killer with a sad life/story
5- a ragged disheveled playboy that loves "beauty" and hates hard work
and many many more layered and interesting side characters all intertwined in a beautiful story about protecting a country.
if I were to describe the guys' reaction to Ae Sin's life choices I'd say;
Hui Seong wanted to be a shadow Ae Sin could hide in
Dong Mae wanted to tie her down/stop her from doing anything that put her in harms way
and Eugene wanted to walk by her side.
I'm currently rewatching it so I'll fix this review later ;p

running man did it better
I’m severely disappointed, I won’t just say I can write it better, though I can and yes my work won't be polished so I'll just write my criticismwe knew people are gonna die, even the "good" people we were rooting for, it's not going to be squid games if everyone survives, but sweet home did it better in the sense of who dies when, also, running man easily did the children’s game being “murderous” tho it was not real murder but the thrill of any tag ripping game and the other games where always so much better
and alice in boredeland did the game of "tag" more thrilling too, the twist and the angst was so deep
And the twists in RM? Pure gold
like the last game, RM did a game similar to it, in the pool where people "drawn", and in those games, the weak would sacrifice themselves to take down jongkook, the strongest
or someone would slip and then still hold on to drag someone with them, super dramatic
here, anyone of the "good guys" would've sacrificed themselves for the baby, but they were taken out just so 456 gets the "privilege"
333 going from helping them, to throwing 100 out without a thought, to the "sacrifice" hurt guy killing himself so one less person survives
and then 333 wouldn't let 456 on so he'd be alone with the baby, and would he have killed the baby? when he had 456 to kill, or would he have sacrificed himself for his baby but he wasn't main enough to do that
333 going on a killing spree making him too guilty to survive but too greedy to sacrifice himself for his child, and taking 120 out, and she didn't even look back when she returned to an old lady and the woman who just gave birth?
149 giving up her killer role to her son who she knew wouldn't be able to kill anyone? just for her to stop him from killing the only person he found? 222 was hurt already close to death anyways
if 149 stayed as the hunter, her son would've sacrificed himself if she wasn't able to get a hold of anyone to kill
The cgi baby was sooo weird, Renesme Korean vr xD
residents playbook “delivered” so many babies and they were all real, also 90% of the babiy’s face scenes were not when she was in danger, and they just carried a pillow for the other 10% xD also the “dangerous” scenes weren’t real either xD
Another thing that annoyed me was the how on every death
222 and the 149 shouldn’t have changed from haunter, atleast they should’ve given it to 120
120 did not suddenly lose sight of how they were prey
333 could’ve carried the baby while 456 carried 222
333 did not need to kill 100 and leave no “sacrifice” beside his own baby xD
And honestly he’d have been the one sacrificing himself for the baby but the writer didn’t want anyone to have that “privilege”
so many things were cheeped out, and that's when you feel it, this plot was a one season thought that got starched tooo thinly it was left falling apart
What would’ve happened if 456 decided he’d “kill himself and the baby” so the vips didn't have a winner?
Would they stop and announce double winners like the hunger games?
Honestly tho speaking of the hunger games, ml had more than enough funds to make a huge rebellion and army to attack the game and the vips so the rest would always fear him and so the games would’ve stopped 🤣

A bit too linear , like a one ep drama rather than a movieIt is always fun to see madongsuk one punch everyone especially demons
But it barely had any substance and as mom said “all that just for one demon and one possessed girl?”
I didn’t like how they’d show the present then conveniently have a backstory ready
And the ending felt too opened ended, I’d have wished they kept madongsuk instead of making it cartoon, and also zero quotations were answered
The house also looked like the ghost one from the great escape with the face in the wall, tbh that was more scary
They had this whole cult of demons, that targeted the dr and her sis
And yosup, or how both madongsuk and Sharon had demon powers, or even stopping the biggest demon
Nothing was answered

He’s so cheesy saying singu instead of chingu
lol I wanna say I enjoyed the characters more this time, but it still isn’t really my type
I loved tak, I liked the friendship, ml was too gloomy and everything felt too flat, juntae was too passive and forgettable, also a bit too “ Shounen” style ie boy centric with flashy fights and crazy plots of teens running a gang scheme xD
I also liked the dad/son Easter egg but it also felt like pako(?) was acting too much to fit the og suho vibes
So I’d compare the friendship to pyramid games and that had better chemistry and character presence
Suddenly a truck is there, and he’s in a coma, and Suho is fine and sieun wakes up in the ep before the last felt so rushed
I loved tak treating juntae like a kid, then he also saved tak but overall his presence lacked
Dude and his pen are like supervillains

I dropped this on ep9 while it was airing, though sadly i didn't write an ongoing review back then and I didn't really plan to finish it until resident playbook came out just so i could enjoy the cameos xD
What I loved:
The friendship
The band time
The individuality
The show of slice of life of both drs and patients
What I hated:
The one dimensionalness of most characters
The romances
Their female leads
The way “love” felt like a 40 year old just wanting to settle “ah that person is nice, I’ll just marry them”
No passion, no fire
Draaaaagggggggyyyyy
The last two eps and their cases were a real snooze almost became a documentary
The hints of “old crush” in the friends, like it took them 20 years to talk
Now I have to say, character depth was never the writer’s strong suit
He got lucky with the big male cast, and he did good taking a chance with “unknown” female casts
The female leads are either gloomy, obsessively bright or “hide their feelings” with either fake gloom or fake happiness
The guys aren’t that much better tbh
But I ironically can see the “polar bear” resemblance

Tbh he might’ve been rude, and self centered in his life but honestly ppl like the other pilot were worse against womenFlirting with women who obv aren’t interested, saying “you flirted first” just cuz she looked at him is so much worse than saying the flight attendants are like flowers
it wasn't as deep as it might've been, he didn't even learn a lesson cuz to him, he wasn't a woman so non of the degrading comments were directed at "him"
and his wife talking about how distant and self centered he was while he was already moving on to another woman, so I'm atleast glad it didn't give the romance actual thought
the elements were funny, like him mom knowing it right away and teasing him, his wife being able to move on and the other pilot not getting traumatized
like imagine, your bff is a man in disguise lying to you falling in love and thinking you owe him the love back xD

The first movie was one of my favs, and this was fun a sequel but it wasn’t that amazingIt was fun seeing the same characters and nice to have my oppa oppa girl so much this year
They had some comedy but not that good and it was kinda obv how things were going too much tho I did have to throw hints for mom cuz they weren’t twist vague just not too spelled out to understand
since the first one was him getting dragged back in the spy world cuz of his manhwa, it made sense this time they tried to use it against him
and it was a smart move, to have the bad guy repeat the story but still be a step ahead, but there were elements, like Jeon Hae In flirting with both men was obv sus but the events weren't too clear as well until they were revealed so I wish they had better flow
maybe for a more episodic vibe, to have constant villains come and go, like totally spies, would fit more than to have a linear movie

Weird the fl didn’t have her poster look, their dynamics is a bit like a kidnapping day, she’s smart and calm and he’s an airhead
He takes her in to steal the insurance money and he’s a scammer so he uses her to scam an older woman and well it’s that simple and mellow so they barely talk and nothing really happens

Short, cute, bittersweetShe kinda reminded me of IU in dream high and but it left a bit of soft spot eventho she was 20 acting 12 ;p
I liked how it was cute fl x cute ml, calm fl x calm ml, tho it was a bit sad
it gives off twinkling watermelon and another cdrama vibes, tho i wished her she knew that was her mom so they had more fun times together
it was also sad, her first crush, would be like an uncle to her xD and it's sad when a rest happens they don't show the memories rushing back to the lead, so it's like coming back to another life, she became how she was cuz she didn't have a dad, but her life would be different

Great cast, interesting timeline, intense battle scenes and good dynamics but it lacked a bit more character presenceI had to pause a few times, the tragedy lvls were high, the fight scenes intense, the strategies and counter attacks were impressive tho I have two comments later
And eventho they had good dynamics, frenemies, lovers, families, girl power, mentors, but it did lack a bit in laying out characters and deeper backgrounds, everything was superficial, understandably cuz the fight scenes were the focus, but it was a fine line between just a battle vs the emotional attachment
My NJK, idk if this was before his acting improved or if his stoic silent presence lurking in the background but I wouldn’t mind calling it a characteristic cuz he was “young” and not miraculously the hero
solhyun improved since my country, paso was as soft and cute as my sweet monster, my Stephanie ;( not enough scenes
I also didn’t notice at first that they were “protected” by the mountains from the back so eventho their castle size wasn’t big they had many resources
their counterattacks were impressive, every time it looked like there's no hope, they outsmarted their emenies
baekha should've poisoned her arrows, to get that close with so many ppl around was even less possible than what paso did
same with manchun. if your arrow has less than 1% chance, you should atleast hope a scratch can kill
then about the tunnel, eventho they didn't realize it sooner cuz they knew their sands the best, like the hill wasn't discreet, it took 3 months, so they should've thought of counter attacks faster, but couldn't they tie ropes and pull the pillars? like everyone even non army's could've pulled 😭
so that sear(?) betraying them made zero sense, like yeah kill more of your ppl and say "that's the only way we can not die.."

The good:Short, 30mins, 8eps👍🏻
Unexpected friendship and slice of life
Takahashi in curly hair and his low voice 😫
The bad:
Idk I need non cute smiley japanese fls
2ml was a bit too clingy for my taste, eventho he had a good heart
Labels restrict us, tho it is good to know yourself and understand the whys "why don't I feel/act like everyone else", but ml was basically in a cage of solitude. And is it enough to say he can't feel/want love? He was scared and found satisfaction in his "castle"
I labeled myself shy and awkward, when I meet someone new they don't know that but I end up choosing to hide behind those labels and those it's hard to connect and reach out to ppl. Basically we program our minds into a cell
I found the ending discussion a bit hard to follow. He was sad, cuz he didn't wanna be lonely. Or moving to a new step just scared him? Or did he wanna stay with her?
Companionship, isn't love but wanting someone around. It doesn't change if he liked certain aspects of that persons personality
And fl saying she'll stay in his house.. I mean it felt more out of convenience for her, even if she meant to say his safe spot won't disappear..

Tbh it teaches kids a bad lessons too, hero....
tho mostly what school leaves their roofs and windows open? In our school we liked to open it fully cuz in winter it'd get too cold so we didn't open the ac and just opened the window but the school ppl found out and locked it🤣
They tried too hard, 90% was nonsense fillers
Ml was not right, white hair took money to bully bullies.. fl kept threatening ppl with her gun..
But everything fell on the 2ml :/
The paramedics were there, the teachers should've heard something
But no, the whole school lied obv, and the cops let them be
They tried to pull a misty, but the double personality was hilarious. I'd have preferred an accident or like misty a real psycho, but he was brainwashed and had multiple personality disorder
