misfortune magnat
ever since the 1st plot move the fl was just too "unfortunate". her mom loved her brother more and she neglected her daughter.the brother dies and the dad disappears so the mom abandons her only kid too. the fl doesn't know what to do so she works for an insurance company. she doesn't do well so her coworker tells her to do whatever so people would buy. then he disappears and she's fired becasue the big boss found out.
so like my main problem here was, why not work as a secretary, a waitress, anything else... but noo her past turned her into prostitution, and beside her abusive boyfriend there's a gang that targets prostitutes... everything was just too convenient, like point A led to point B and that led to her becoming a murderer..
but in the end she fakes her death and works at a cafe in her hometown. like why wasn't that her 1st target? becasue the writers wanted her to break...
oh yeah at the end they showed that the ml was the guy who gave the kid vr of her that fish. though I knew from the start it was him becasue of his voice, it was yet another perfectly fitted plot move.. also pretty creepy..

and another thing I disliked was the slowness of it, I got the sweet little unexpected familial feels but the plot seemed too empty, nothing much happened and in the last ep I thought "wait that's it?". so there was no closure, no ending, no resolution.
the romance as well, they weren't mismatched but again there was no confession, no progress. it was overall like I just watched a cooking show..

beside the major casting change, and the fact that rock nana was the main one they needed, cute nana not only looked/acted differently but she was HORRIBLE here, it was like she was brain washed by long haired guy, and worse she just lacked logic and looked like a saesang who was happy to have a reason to be forever "connected" with her idol ;/ironically they didn't change the blond or the long haired one but they still looked/acted differently here xD
she acted as if long hair was the only one who "got her", but blond dude was the one who treated her with respect and care.. long haired guy was crazy, he treated her like an object and then only wanted her when other's told him he can't have her/he had competition ;/
so he goes to her house to tell her he'll have her no matter if the kid was his or not! do things she told him not to, expose her when she's weak, and she thought that was romantic?! while their blond dude just walks away because "he wants her to be happy" like no one TALKED and she chose the creepy control freak ;/ AND he was married in another country? how did ren not know!
basically this lacked logic and I hope the anime was not like that.. plus they end it on a cliffhanger! was it the blond's kid? was it the long haired's? would blond literately give away his "family" because he didn't want to fight?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
on the other hand the real essence of the sismance between the nanas was lost here! cute nana didn't care for rock nana she was just jealous and living in self pity and rock nana "loved" cute nana so much she didn't TALK with her anymore! she didn't talk it out when cute nana acted wrongly by going to long haired guy, she didn't talk to her when she was in her lowest, and she left to stay with ren becasue she was so happy to be with cute nana? nothing made sense!!!!!!!!!!!! and she just let go of cute nana becasue she didn't tell her everything! yet she was the one who didn't listen or ask! and she never tried to find her back! and cute nana stopped caring for rock nana that she didn't even come out of the room when the glasses broke?! honestly forget romance what did they do to the sismance!
I need to know if this season is taken from the anime becasue I just don't to watch it anymore ;(

a few of my favorite lines were "she knows too much about you, she must be your nemesis" xD "it was a blessing to be Shi Miao's brother" and the best one "you forgot something. ME" TT_TT
when the movie start we see this overly childish kinda annoying kid that won't stop bothering his sister and the sister that just can't take him anymore that she wishes him away, but instead of just disappearing he becomes her best friend's brother and through that she starts to see the reasons behind her brothers actions ;(
the parents were horrible people tbh, and the events in the movie were pretty basic but they delivered the sibling love really well.
I'm so used to dramas vr of "teenagers" that a real 16 year old looked too young to be 16 xD also now I see the brother was almost 23 but he captured the annoying youthfulness of a 18(?) year old really well, though again he also looked younger xD

the production, the directing and the camera work was top notch, though I'd have preferred prettier uniforms (thanks to kdramas love of pretty uniforms xD) but overall this had great quality.
there are a few plot moves I hate, and one is unnecessary angst/crazy characters that turn psychopathic. and this thankfully handled everything well.
Jackson Yi was only 18 when he pulled that off! he was amazing! his expressions, and the control over his movements was beautiful.. tbh even though I am an idol fangirl, I only heard of the name TFBOYS but I'd have been super prejudice if I read his bio before starting this. I only looked at his age and I was blown away by his acting.
also, I cried the most over the loss of that manbun ;p
Zhou Dong Yu on the other hand was 27! and she doesn't look a day older than 17 tbh, but she also had that control and maturity in her that actually gave extra depth to the character and her emotional control rather than making their age gap obvious or weird.
the development of the story was beautiful, granted it was a little too long so I had to pause every once in a while but that's just because I didn't want to look away while watching this. the vulnerability, the friendship, the connection was just beautiful~
I wanted a little more clarification on Xiao Bei's mom. they mentioned her again but I didn't get the point. did the cops previously meet Xiao Bei becasue he was searching for her? or did the cops know her?
anyway, I did think the cops were a little conveniently "dumb" and unable to talk or get their points across, but overall it was nicely wrapped up. though I slightly needed a little "more" of that ending :)
the songs were nice and I never rewatch movies, though I'll add this to my fav movies list, and maybe even the rare gems one too~

Sawada was the true mvp here! he had so much genuine feelings, his happiness for other people's good news, and his heartache for their sad news was so heartwarming and he did so much for Bae Jae Cheol..
Bae Jae Cheol was kinda really selfish (maybe they made it more dramatic for the movie), but his wife also had her own problems and he never really tried to help her. she was an angel to put her own problems aside and stand by him :) looking at some real videos though, Bae looks like a sweet guy.
and they might've not fully added her story for time value ;)
also, I wonder if Misaki was also based on a real person because I shipped her with Sawada xD
I'm a huge opera fan so I loved the soundtracks, but the audio quality was not that great, and sometimes the background singing was louder than the dialog, plus they also had such a diverse cast, and with their accents it was kinda hard to catch everything but since they added korean subs it was only a problem for me ;p

I loved the new addition of a bad "girl", she was awesome and if there's more to this installment, I wish to see her (and jisoo) again ;)
I always say Ma Dong Seok is the only believable 1 vs 100, or ruining through walls and doors xD and he always has the greatest comedic lines. "no onion please", gang pawn "how did you get here" MDS: "with the gps"! xD
the story is pretty simple, prison bus turns over, prisoners run away, bad guys tried to collect them and they find out the big plot.
my rewatch values are 1 or a 10, and I rarely rewatch movies ;)

But this had a good balance, maybe it’s better for a binge cuz it’s that effortless
I've missed soe kangjoon a lot, so the extra 0.5 is for him
my girl kijoo is one of the rare fully totally cuties so it's also always a plus to see her~
there are shortcomings, but lately finding a solid passable drama has become harder than finding a masterpiece xD
the events moved well eventho it felt like the bullying was taking too long, they were able to add "18 again" like comedy and even threw jabs at their own plot of a 30 year old acting 18
the childhood connection was obv added to speed up a romance that wasn't the main point, eventho I wish it was cuz they made the cutest couple, and kangjoonie's eyes sparkling, or him lowering his stance to match her eye level and the way he listens to her talk, a romance genre would never ;(
My kangjoonie is such an amazing actor, the sad parts make him shine💖
And O Su A was honestly smart, she solved like half their problems
the big plot of the gold, especially the mystery around his dad, I wish they did it a bit more quirky, like a nancy drew mystery game, a full treasure hunt type
the betrayal was really sad and it never really felt as deep with the revelation that they always had it under their nose, eventho he was gonna reveal it he just suspected someone was betraying them, but it was just too sad

Life is a series of choices, fate, destiny exist but it’s all about the choiceThe age confused me, they were 12, met again in 24 years which means they should be 36, even if it was only 20 years, they’d be 32, but he was in uni? And she was acting like a teen bubbly airhead🤣
And they remet in 12 more years so, 44/48?
By their behavior in life I’d have assumed it was 12, 21 and 35/40
Yoo teo presented the changes really well, he can project a cute gentleness of the second part
And fl she looked younger in the third part, a side part hair fits her perfectly
Alex? Already forgot his name, he had a good heart but dang he felt so average, not looks but personality and in ways that’s why she chose him, he would do anything for her, would he have a breaking point tho? Anyone would.
Anyway, this was like 2521, love and soulmate isn’t enough to make a relationship work. Long distance relationships aren’t just about physical distance, it’s about culture, routine, and the habitat one is used to, I personally can never leave my home
She wanted him to follow her life choices and move to new York while he also had his own steps he chose, he was her reminder of “home and belonging”, and she was his what if
Maybe he wouldn’t have regretted moving for her, isn’t love and passion a blink of an eye choice, she certainly wouldn’t have felt comfortable again in Korea
I wish the scene they ignored the husband in the bar was done differently like he left to give them space to talk rather than them ignoring him
Idk maybe it highlights his acceptance that that was closure, my personality would not handle that well 🤣 I’d have left the next day😆
Tbh I wanted them to end up together, idk it felt simple, get rid of Alex 🤣 he certainly wavered that he was in competition with, but Nora did always have “open minded” set to the point mindset
She loved him but she wasn’t madly in love with him which does make sense for both, a kid’s admiration, turned into a what if but that was 34 years of living their lives
If it was hard to live without one another, either one would’ve made a move, even if it was just a weekend visit
Is love dead? I just want pure love storiesT_T

this is like a revolutionary drama~ a full on wonderful women's world drama! I loved all of them, I'm gonna miss it though I'd LOVE a 2nd season~
+ I loved all of the female cast! every single one
+ the drama was full of interesting diverse women
+ I loved the male casts too~
+ I just loved the whole "world"
+ scarlet and jihwan are my couple of the year~
what I didn't like:
- I'll be honest, I was over tammy's character and her relationship troubles.. she started off as a confident independent woman, but throughout she became a little selfish and self observed that I was worried if the show continued she'd just push everyone away with her arrogance.
- morgan was too perfect that even Chang Ki Yong seemed to have a hard time "connecting" to his character.. he did everything else well, the cute stuff and the flirting, but other times he was too, detached?
I'll blame these two points on the fact that all writers have a problem with showcasing a steady healthy relationship because they think it'd be "uninteresting"..
my rewatch values are either a 1 or 10, but I think now that I know the ending I'd love to rewatch it~

fantasy that forgot it was fantasy
we need more "ahjumma" centered dramas, like dear my friendsThe good
I’m glad this year there were plots that lets ahjummas shine (also connection)
MLs cute smiles
the sweet and alive parents
The meh
I love eunji, tho yeah her character 😴
Murder mastery plot twist, tho the murderer😴
The bad
It was practically an office drama
Drrrraaagggy
Eventho ml had cute smiles, the romance was non existent
Which makes me think if they got together sooner and stuff, it’d have been even duller
Tbh without mom, I’d not have continued 😬
eventho it was "fantasy" it was just practically just an office drama
they kept the double identity a secret and lost half the charm, the only fun parts were when Ju Byeong Deok saw the idol with the ahjumma
I would interpret not telling him cuz she was involved in “identity theft”
And sure she didn’t tell her parents cuz she wanted them to think the job she got was hers
But I wanted her to empathize that a bit more especially since she was stealing her aunts identity
But I never felt like she was feeling any remorse or guilt for that and she just didn’t want them to know or actually feared that, she was just ok living life like that
Her father was in danger just cuz he went to the murderer on his own
Which is stupid cuz why would’ve he “hired her” to look for his sil when she was just a “waitress”🤦🏻♀️ then go back to her when she never found anything 🫠
The villain didn’t know her identity until she saw the pic on his phone, she just knew the face she never knew the name
So yeah the story didn’t have any solid writing and every ep was a filler🤣

for me the only good parts were these: jiho's personality. it's so rare to have a shy ml in dramaland. tho they did treat him like a freak, it's like the dude didn't like what "insa" people liked, but was he a psycho? no..
he just didn't like attention, or crowds, or fake social behavior to please other people. he was not "traumitized". sure he had a bad past but not every "social slowness" is a faulty personality
and yes, by now you've guessed it right, it's personal xD I'm shy, socially awkward, and slow with the fun hangs, but I'm not an idiot with a rock head.
as a kid I did say no alot, and in uni I changed it to a "hmm yeah". because I didn't really wanna do it but I also didn't not want to do it
here, especially with the drinking, or the wedding preps at the end, jiho didn't "like it", maybe he is stuck in my no phase but sangeun wasn't really considerate, she wasn't pushing him out of his shell she kept dragging him out then kinda making fun of him, "teaching" him he should "be like other people"..
so I personally didn't think they matched. like again the wedding prep, he was ready to put himself through the struggle cuz she said she wanted a big wedding, and she didn't listen when he said he didn't want it big. then she goes and says she was doing it for him
anyway, atleast with jiho his shyness and lack of social personalty didn't come with low self esteem, doubt, self consciousness and ready to escape
no drama can survive that way so all of those traits went to saguen ;D
I'm glad he always said he'll never misunderstand her and he'll wait for her pov before making a judgment, that's 1000000 lvl male lead behavior~ also he was never shy or reluctant in showing intimacy which is another +A move
gwangnamah was a sweeite, it's nice to have male characters without ulterior or obsessive behavior towards the fl, most fl "brother zoned" end up with a secret 10 year crush
he was a good person, had his own life, worries and dreams, he could easily get a spinoff where he finds happiness, love and acceptance
another point I liked was the past childhood connection, and the ones that did have them ended in divorce or one sided crush which heavily highlights how a person is different from what one projects on them
I did however dislike the 5 year "eating mate" with 0 attempts at conversation and honestly the whole drama was flat with zero substance, I'd have tbh preferred them preparing for a wedding, looking more at "what people do to please others who think one should do that" while trying to navigate happiness and marriage. I also wanted a scene with a baby to show he's not afraid to show affection and she also adored her baby and stuff life that
anyway, I only started it for a mom watch, and stayed for her + jiho and tbh the last like 40mins were my favorite part of this drama xD

But I feel like if he was the girl, and she’d be bored and annoyed at the cold ml, and waiting for his death to get his money, that’d shake things up more
But if it was that way. They’d call her a gold digger like the impossible heir and hate her
Honestly the plot around the two leads is nice but this does not need “24” eps, ie 16eps of one and a half hours
Every other character feels like an afterthought to drag it out
I keep watching half the ep then continuing and watching a bit of the next ep
I’m liking her kind side but ml is 90% worse than her cold self, we don’t know more but her actions around that room was 100% a wall and cry for help, meanwhile ml just walked away
Koreans passed crazy and became psychos with weight
Fl “omg I gained 3kgs, I thought you’re supposed to lose weight when sick”..
First off girl be happy your illness didn’t make you ill for the last 6eps ie “8hours”
Fl “I’ve been pretty all my life what if I turn ugly before my death”
Yeah so gaining 3kgs makes you ugly and she barely has time to gain +10kgs…
Fl “you’ll only remember my ugly (fat) face”
Girl…. Your mind is ugly… literally nothing changes, no saggy skin, no hairloss, no inability to move… which wouldn’t even make her ugly…
Ml “I’ll love you no matter your weight”
She didn’t gain 30kgs.. which again wouldn’t make her ugly…
Fl “I’ll stay gorgeous until I die”, fl proceeded to move and flap her arms aggressively to, lose weight

best historical since forever
idk how to start this review, I want to praise it but I also want to address my biggest issue besides the last epa woman telling men what to do in those times?
for me that was the most unbelievable thing, they were too calm and cooperating, first off as a woman becoming a lawyer in those times, sure she had her father in laws support, but I really feel like they'd have degraded her words alot more
so I feel like her "struggles" were glossed over, especially with so many deaths around her ;p
I feel like it should've been more depressing
anyway, lets go back to the good points, the acting, especially the two mains was amazing, they grew gradually, they were strong, hardedged and jaded but they also never forgot to smile and laugh together which was really sweet
my favorite parts (Eventho I said it was "unbelievable") was when Ok Tae Yeong got all lawyered up and she did have the power and knowledge, maybe more after the 7 year passed
speaking of those 7 years, I feel like that also ruined the pace a bit, almost non looked 9 years older, I think there was another two or three years passing after that
Im Ji Yeon had the best growth, and Choo Young Woo did the double role really well
I did think the 2nd leads were useless and I was a bit confused on Mak Sim, Dokkie, End Dong I and Baekki, I thought they were a family
as the drama goes by the first thing one notices is how fast some plot elements are solved, and it might make one worry a bit, it's barely halfway through what else would happen, and it did get a bit slow in the 3/4 but I think having too many events and slowing them, is better than dragging one or two elements and also wasting time on side characters
so for the last ep, I feel like the pressure of the choice was hard for the writer, you can always address your big plotline, or push it under a rug
choose, A. continue to lie, B. admit it all, or C. outsmart them all
and this writer did try to "solve" it, but idk for me it didn't feel like the best choice in the long term
Cheon Seung Wi's "crime" wasn't adultery, it was suspicions that he and Koo Deok I, murdered Seong Yun Gyeom.
so he tells them he did it on his own, and he's put in jail. but Seong Yun Gyeom is alive, so wouldn't him going to the judge be enough?
especially since people called her Ok Tae Yeong / Koo Deok I as an "adulterer", so no one will believe Cheon Seung Wi died and Seong Yun Gyeom takes her back, a cheater and a former "slave"..
even if they said she didn't know, people were already saying she had "two husbands"...
more so because she gives birth to that "other guy's kid", and that other guy is writing books now.. so no one will believe it.
it's too much to clean. the kid needs to grow up even if her dream is just to live by the sea, and people in her town will know the truth but still it's such a mess
if anyone else wants to point out they can say "Cheon Seung Wi killed Seong Yun Gyeom in prison when he came to claim his life back"
so i wish since her name was cleared and she gained her own freedom, Cheon Seung Wi deserved his name back too

This vs Sweet Home
there's no need for comparison, but I'll do it anyways~for the plot, this was a flat mess, they had too many characters with zero emotinal attachment...
the main reason I stayed was Kim Ok Bin. I've only seen her before in The Villainess and briefly in Children of a Lesser God. I can't remember her in the 1st one though I briefly remember the plot and I dropped the later cuz of her (and the ML's) high pitched tone, so here I actually really appreciated her beautiful calm voice and persona. as a cop I approve
in sweet home, they had so many characters but each of them felt real, from the sweet church boi to the horrible wife beater, each were a piece in the big puzzle
here, they had the cop, the ex cop, the kid (added for cheap emotinal grab), the teen (added for cheap sad lonely misfit), the teacher (that was connected to the teen for cheap revenge plot), the doctor (for cheap last minute conflict), the shaman and her annoying inferiority complex, the creepy self centered human monsters, another kid, another teacher, a police dude and his pregnant wife, and basically my point was, everyone was a piece of a puzzle cut in a square just to make the picture bigger (ie more ep count) and easy skippable plotlines
this was one of those cases "less ep cuz they knew they couldn't drag it out too much"
the ost is beautiful and I never rewatch stuff
