I understand why this wasn't subbed, the story kinda felt like an exotic foreign film that needs a required taste. You know like they are not really korean drama/movie fans but self proclaimed intellectual "film" fans? The thing I had the most issues with was the texts xD I gathered that the 2 mains somewhat met as "online pen palls" who never met in person and when they met they didn't know they knew each other? I mean I might need to look at the names of the texts to be sure xD
Anyway. Both were broken souls. The ml was a cop who let a drunk driver through the checkpoint "for a reason or no reason -another missed subless context xD" and that guy got in an accident and hurt a woman and himself too so he was questioned and even got wrongfully accused by the victims husband for taking a bribe.
Now he had more trauma around him. 1 was his girlfriend breaking up on frozen Han River -and I don't know if it was implied that she killed herself? Or they were just talking about how thin ice was.
Anyway his other trauma was his mom cheating on his dad and his dad trying to commit suicide in front of him but he only got half paralyzed? though, the synopsis says it was his mom? so why was his dad sick too? ;)
Then we had the fl. Again things seemed really vague. Her mom was paralyzed and she had to take care of her, she worked for a party planning business(?) And the boss was her dad? Also from that knife scene I kinda felt like she wanted to kill him, because he was the one who hurt her mother?
And her mom telling her "next time take me with you on a vacation" was kinda a sign that she didn't want to stay alone and the fl cried because she knew she wasn't coming back?
fast forward to both ending up in the same island (?) Which both went to so they could kill themselves but then they met and randomly (maybe even wistfully hoping for a life line) they agreed to meet on the day they both wanted to commit suicide. But the ml tried to kill himself before that meeting time so he never went to her even though she waited until the last minute (because she didn't want to do it either!!!) And thankfully a little girl saw the ml drowning and he was saved so his 1st thought was to check on their meeting location and the fl was there locked in her car! But again he was able to help her out while the taxi driver called 911 and so both survived TT__TT it's kinda like a reversed Romeo and Juliet :(
And that was the message "they didn't want to die they just wanted to end the lives they suffered in" TTT____TTT
I feel like the story needed a little more depth and connection between them, like the texts felt too impersonal and maybe they both talked about going to that island to kill themselves and that's why the fl kinda looked like she "recognized" the ml after seeing him in the ferry, and also maybe she did tell him who she was -I blame the lack of subs for missing this- but it needed more especially since it was only 1 hour and 20min. overall I liked it

one of the best comedies I've seen
I only started watching this a few days ago and I marathoned everything in 3 days then I had to wait for the last ep, it was that good ;Dtbh, I'm not a fan of Park Hae Jin's acting and I thought that plus comedy would be a disaster so I had it as not interested, but a friend kept telling me it's my type of dramas and she was 100% right❤ overall his acting was slightly awkward but it blended well with his characters personality and the writer balanced Yeol Chan really well, he was cold and sadistic but he was also caring and reliable
I've loved Han Ji Eun ever since be melo so she was the 2nd reason I started this and I LOVED her character here as well, she was naturally cute but she was also smart, competent, independent and she always said what's on her mind (not in a rude or demeaning manner, she just wouldn't let others label or define her)
Kim Eung Soo was the real mvp, in the 1st ep he seemed so evil and beyond reparable, but stripping away his power made him into the softest bean xD there were so many scenes where he was a literal representation of UWU
I was pleasantly surprised to see Noh Jong Hyun again after Strangers From Hell where he was my favorite. and I liked his character and arc here, plus Park Ah In as well though it was a shame the drama was too short
there are two points in this drama, 1- was that we shouldn't judge and label people so easily. all 3 interns were introduced as "the worst choice" for the job but just giving them a chance showed how reliable and hardworking they all were, everyone just needs a secure environment to glow.
and 2- was the witty and well written script and dialog, tbh one would not think a "bromance office comedy" would deliver anything beyond a few laughs, but the turn of events and "twists" were all so unexpected that I literally laughed until I cried ;D
the romance was not the main point (sadly) but it too was written so well that it followed the cliches in a new manner, I really loved seeing the characters "realistic" reactions. if it was longer we could've gotten a little more out of that romance and that's why I wish for a 2nd season!
the ost was nice but not revolutionary and I never rewatch stuff, though I might want to rewatch those moments that made me cry from laughter (which I already did a few times, but still)

in some ways I got attached to the characters, and the actors are actually pretty hot (not to sound shallow xD) but I have to say, the hair in their "interpretation" of age was actually horrible xD
the story lacked consistency. the first 6eps were really repetitive and unnecessary, I considered dropping it many times. they might've tried hard to make us "feel" or understand what they wanted to overall do. and sure, it is a great plot with a nice balance between the complicated time traveling and desperation of it all..
but it's like they tried to out clever the viewers while they still worried everyone would miss the point, and I could feel the hesitation of that.
they put alot of forced melodramatic feels between the 2 main couple just for the sake of a little angst..
I'd have preferred more time in the present, but I guess they wanted to complicatedness of the past more.
I really loved Huang Yu Xuan as a character, she was fun and outgoing but she was also sweet and mature. Li Zi Wei was also really sweet, but at times he just felt, naive? he was just too 1 minded, in some aspects. this might've been for the sake of the "melo" feel.
for some reason the ost by SHI SHI just touches my heart and makes me feel nestalgic, overall the full ost was really fit for the atmosphere of the drama.
I rarely rewatch anything so it's always either a 1 or a 10 ;)

even if a super star like Lay freaks out about not being "perfect", then so can I -not be perfect I mean, not the freaking out part xD
this show also makes me want to continue "learning" and challenge myself to do things out of my comfort zone.

I loved how Xiumin just chose to show his private life like that. he showed his 1st new apartment, his 1st housewarming party with the members, and his normal hangouts with his friends, and his adventures with his childhood friends. and that just highlights the type of person he is, sweet and down to earth with a close knitted friendship.

Worst writer of 2022
This is one of those cases, the writer only has the synopsis and nothing else so they use the forbidden book. Also, enemies to lovers is better for dramaland cuz sweet fl meets sweet ml and they don't play games, so they get together fast, and "breakup" or get thrown in a mess of we can't talk right now...The story of a girl who worked at the funeral home that could see the ghosts in their final moment and grants them 1 wish
She had X amount ppl to deal with, some wanted small revenge, some wanted a message or a gift delivered. Sounds interesting right?
And it was until the writer stopped using that and instead went to the "sht my characters got together too fast, bring in the ex" honestly atleast 3 or 4 eps were wasted on the ex and her nagging.. and her mom...
Then the writer not only had the most basic past trauma, which was the exact copy of love is for suckers, but she made the three leads share the same traumq and worse, made 2nd lead a psycho..
And that took 3 more eps until poof, 2nd lead feels remorse and regrets it..... oh whoops, I didn't help a dying kid cuz I wanted a better life.. and I blamed my brother for it. And I tried to kill fl, omg I never wanted to be like my dad TT
And the last straw that black listed this writer... SHE MURDERED FLS DAD! the sweetest dad in dramaland, the most harmless dude... and how? By reusing another pregnant lady.. like where was her husband? Why kill the security guard/dad... why leave the house if you're not smart enough to not get near a movers truck..
Sure I knew with the countdown someone important had to die, which is another cheap mistake. But a big accident with multiple ppl would've been tragic enough
Maybe the itaewon tragedy made the writer change things but I doubt it. The story was laid out from the start. The writer obv used the "cliche kdrama guide for dummy writers" but things moved as planned
Cuz no drama makes the fls dad meet and like the ml unless what? They wanna murder the dad
Like there were 2 uncles they could've taken.. the fl was already momless.... just a few tears and she moves on for her happiness with the ml...

it’s not even karma but a forced “connection” between random strangers who happen to share a cheesy childhood connectionI do think this did the “what villain is the worst villain” theme better than hyper knife but it was all repetitive trying to show what’s going on in so many bits and I do wish it was more focused on the drs
It’s one of those overdark type with a huge great cast but first ep was snoozing
and overall it was all so frustrating, honestly you’d think they’d try to be different but they keep repeating the same moves
Everything just screams “dejavu”, I've seen a handful of movies with the same exact plot and same exact results
It was good that kwangsoo was smart, but he should’ve driven away
Also he should’ve also sused her, like who the heck kisses someone driving at that exact time
And what were the other two in the other car doing? Cuz I thought they were the planners not the “eyewitness”
And the first ep was so boring, I thought the debt guy’s dad was killed by the debt collectors not that he planned it
Also every single nice looking person is either killed or he’s not nice?
Like if this was eyewitness’s plan with the gf, wouldn’t he know kwangsoo wouldn’t have that money anymore?
A dr that steals organs to pay for his student loans and his upcoming wedding becomes a hero when faced with a rapist who scams ppl for money and “ruin” their lives by pushing the smaller “grey” characters to become villains too
Now I am confused on the high schoolers, cuz if GYS is minas “enemy” and both the girls bfs were witness and debtor, so both were rapists? So one gets karma for the rape and murdering his dad for money, and the other thinks he’s getting the better life but ends up in another karma loop
atleast all the bad guys died xD

I personally prefer crime scene and the great escape more as a theme, here it's like a stiff improve acting class and the line between drama and variety shows blurslike the ending credit with their real goofey self was way better but this too was a new sort of theme so I did still like it, though I have to say their villains were the most obvious people xD
I especially like how sehun, sejung and minyoung were in this since they're not the usual faces seen around in varieties and it was really great to see them solve cases and show their smartness
I really want to see minyoung and song jihyo act as villains tbh, I feel like they can pull off the deadly assassin character welll

the story was slightly more biased on the male lead, it was his story, his family, his survive story, BUT they gave the female lead the screen time and development she deserved.
there were times she'd put his wounds/worries 1st, but then as a realistic person, she'd still feel overwhelmed and slightly selfish. plus Im Yoon Ah's crying face was comedy GOLD! and adorable too! I think I liked her in The King in Love, but this made me love her❤
I didn't like Yong Nam's slight tantrums, but it did add to his character xD
I loved the family in this, the story shows Yong Nam as a jobless "loser", and he felt disconnected from his "perfect" family with their perfect husbands and perfect children but the 1st moment he was in danger the worry and fear from his family was heartwarming..
especially the dad made me tear up ^^ tbh I'm deducting 0.5 from the plot because I wanted more! I wanted them to show an ending scene where Yong Nam and Eui Joo around his family laughing and having fun!
the flow of the story was nice, it had suspense and desperation without losing hope, and tbh there were times I thought they'd die, even though in most movies the heroes don't die..
I also really loved how they used technology in this movie! we are in a digital world, and everyone has a phone, so it was the small touches like the phones ringing in the street as a sign of people looking for their loved ones becasue there are other people effected in this beside the 2 mains. also the drones, the mukbangs, the sns and the whole community behind it was really well represented.
the ost and audio were nice and I never rewatch stuff, but I will recommend this to my friends~

this was pure happiness delight~ exo eating, laughing and having fun! I wish they'd do more things like this, even if some of the members are gone to the army..
they could even go on trips in groups of 2, the cc part was a good way to focus on the 2 members..
overall it's like 10 full 1 hour eps so it's easy to rewatch again as well~

one of the best 2019 drama
I think people (including me) started expecting more of this drama because it was something new and never seen before. The promise of the story itself opened so many options about how the drama was going to unfold, and as I started theorizing, it kinda made me disappointed when they didn't happen. (this also happens to me when I watch crime dramas that hide their main criminal, I start expecting something that's just basically "my version of a story".)Basically that's why I tried to minimize MY writing/interpretation of this drama and I just tried to watch the drama's version of events. that became harder when the drama started it's last chapter, mainly because I'm an overanalyzer and things were too clear that I even fell for the writer's trap at one point xD
IF I wrote this drama I would've done it differently, but that doesn't mean the original writer's version was bad. this also goes for the characters, but seeing the end made me accept that "this" danoh, "this" haru and "this" school were made for "this" story.
I don't want to make this review long, though this might be my longest review to date, and I don't want to add spoilers, so I'll try to summarize the next part ;)
the acting were really perfect for "this" story, I already knew most of these young actors, and I'll keep an eye out for their next projects ;)
for the OST, I have to say I really loved how each character had their own little theme song, I need to find A3's song and make it my ringtone xD
my rewatch values are either a 1 or 10, and now that I've seen the ending I really want to watch the drama with a different view point ;)

Cheesy, convenient, Predictable, as if it came out of a webtoon, too comical, too themedThe poster and character organization really gives it away too
Even detective Conan wasn’t this childish
It’s also a bit, ironic or hypocritical, do ppl refuse money to sell their property, gain a lot of money, and face death? When they aren’t really selling their “land”? They can just move to a different neighborhood, I mean underselling is the only “fear”
And I’m being generous with my rating
When a man does it, he’s the “punisher”, seeking justice law can’t achieve, protector of the weak
when a woman does it, she’s being too emotional and needs to let it go, move on from the hate in her heart, seek forgiveness and “live with it”, but she can’t because she’s a sensitive creature so she kill’s herself in the worst possible pain?
Also the two cops were super dumb, “why was she standing there for 30mins?”
The answer is the was, you idiots spent 30mins looking at her in the past and didn’t reach her current destination
“I wanted to save him”? The murders that killed ppl? Why did they kill ppl when they’re building homes? Cuz they’re still sucking ppl dry? Buying 1m+ properties to show wealth? Everyone is crazy

That said, it was also best to let it be a drama instead because as a movie it was too linear
But it was exactly what I needed, no angst, no hate, no rivalry, no love triangle, no betrayals, no conflict
Just easy breezy love, love for friends, love for dance, love for family, and a love of youth
Even the teachers were cute

like they put luxury aquariums for num1 and a flying restaurant for num2 but they were just meh. and so I think the show's weak point is hoping for extreme concepts people would think "that doesn't exist" while it seems many actual businesses keep it calm if not a little overboard
just like the great escape the production companies need to keep and sell their businesses xD like the idea of building something from scratch in a few weeks is not that crazy if they just hire an architectural company and give them enough money so they work fast xD
overall though the dynamics were really fresh, variety shows are rarely female based and yu jae suk is the ideal guy to not only handle their jokes but also help them shine more. that's why yu jae suk is the national mc, he's really sweet and caring. I really hope for s2 with the same cast

and two, I don't know what they teach to all korean writers but they cannot explain their plot in less than 16 eps and they need 100 side plots to distract people from the main plot, so in this it felt like they had a 16ep plan that got reduced and they just picked random events fit the drama.
I'll cut this into 2 story points too,
one is the main plot around the fl and the ml which was ok, they explained well why she used toys and they even gave her a nice solid base that didn't feel flat. she had a past and she didn't just "start" when the drama began, most stories do that they give us a written back story and the main character starts from point 0 when the drama starts so they are as clueless as the viewers -which might have it's charming points but it's over done.
she had friends and a life around her and I really liked her arc with the friend though again like everything else in the drama it was not used well. also she cried weirdly alot, they literally had her flop down like a 5 year old and cry ;)
on the other hand the ml felt flat, he didn't have much base and he just felt like he suddenly manifestation for the fl's story. he didn't have much characteristics, friends or a life outside the fl..
and the other part is the kids..
I feel like they were the weirdest thing, their stories were weird, their actions were weird that they felt exactly like the jellies, they were floating around with their plot moves as if they too only existed for the fl's arc
my favorite part and character was Mr. Mackenzie, not because I'm biased with yooteo, but his character added conflict, mystery and depth to the story. though I think he just disappeared, I didn't pay too much attention to the last two eps..
for acting I think both mains did a better job than their previews works, Jung Yoo Mi was less awkward than her character in live and Nam Joo Hyuk finally broke away from the teen roles they forced him on, he really felt like a nice grownup.
the music was as weird as the flavor of this drama but it was nice and I never rewatch stuff.
