Worst writer of 2022
This is one of those cases, the writer only has the synopsis and nothing else so they use the forbidden book. Also, enemies to lovers is better for dramaland cuz sweet fl meets sweet ml and they don't play games, so they get together fast, and "breakup" or get thrown in a mess of we can't talk right now...The story of a girl who worked at the funeral home that could see the ghosts in their final moment and grants them 1 wish
She had X amount ppl to deal with, some wanted small revenge, some wanted a message or a gift delivered. Sounds interesting right?
And it was until the writer stopped using that and instead went to the "sht my characters got together too fast, bring in the ex" honestly atleast 3 or 4 eps were wasted on the ex and her nagging.. and her mom...
Then the writer not only had the most basic past trauma, which was the exact copy of love is for suckers, but she made the three leads share the same traumq and worse, made 2nd lead a psycho..
And that took 3 more eps until poof, 2nd lead feels remorse and regrets it..... oh whoops, I didn't help a dying kid cuz I wanted a better life.. and I blamed my brother for it. And I tried to kill fl, omg I never wanted to be like my dad TT
And the last straw that black listed this writer... SHE MURDERED FLS DAD! the sweetest dad in dramaland, the most harmless dude... and how? By reusing another pregnant lady.. like where was her husband? Why kill the security guard/dad... why leave the house if you're not smart enough to not get near a movers truck..
Sure I knew with the countdown someone important had to die, which is another cheap mistake. But a big accident with multiple ppl would've been tragic enough
Maybe the itaewon tragedy made the writer change things but I doubt it. The story was laid out from the start. The writer obv used the "cliche kdrama guide for dummy writers" but things moved as planned
Cuz no drama makes the fls dad meet and like the ml unless what? They wanna murder the dad
Like there were 2 uncles they could've taken.. the fl was already momless.... just a few tears and she moves on for her happiness with the ml...

What will happen, What will happen, that’s what happened? It’s super cheesy, just another bullying drama with crazy ppl that kill
The highschoolers focus ruined the first two eps, then the teachers ruined ep3-4 and the last two eps just went full on anime
I mean everything would’ve “been the same” even without the glasses/the slines
People find out about adultery, pedos and cheaters, and murder can be the after effect so this “special” vision isn’t that interesting
But to add some substance, cuz yeah you see a cheater what will you do? Leave like a normal person or do you do something crazy crazy
So they kept throwing any crazy connection and psychopathness
is it a twist? the wife is not the wife but the mistress xD
I mean the "real wife" is like 20 years younger than him, but his mistress has a 5 year old kid? while he gives his og wife the gifts and side times.. it doesn't make sense
and the 4th ep was just a rapist, raping a dying man. that's disgusting ;/ again, the lines mean nothing, a psycho is always a pyscho
The kids in ep5, they didn’t know about the lines, so to make that scheme to rape someone without touching them…
And honestly the ml was super mean there, doubting the girl instead of wondering if there were more rapists
And dahee turning into a, what was she, a being of “hate the connection”? Or hate human nature? Cuz I mean non of them reacted like a human
And the glasses did make them act uncharacteristically too, so is it even “human nature” that’s the problem
Tbh, why don’t they recognize the glasses? they're people in the same facility, and two I’d get a person seeing the lines, but the glasses? what are they made out of the pupil of someone who could see the lines? lol the answer was even worse than I expected
Honestly the ending was so disappointing, everything was so nonsensical
They kept adding ridiculous twisted twists and then they added super weird reasoning and then it was over
People made up their own theories, I didn’t read or think of them, because that’s a fun on its own and this didn’t deserve that much thought
It was really a simple “someone random sees the line cuz the goddess of the lines(?) wanted them to and she had to fuel enough energy to make the whole world see it”
Anyways again, the lore of the lines didn’t matter cuz it is a fictional “power”, but the behavior of the people was so over angsty and overblown, the problem wasn’t the lines but the few people that cheated, raped, and killed
I watched this cuz it was short, and cuz of the cast but they didn’t really do anything to reach their potential and if I don’t remember an ost, I consider it a loss rating

i was kinder to the og butAny shortcoming here is a reflection of the og and Two brothers that aren’t twins grow up to look exactly the same
Basically, one adult stole a teens life
Another asked her to basically disappear and have his love interest back
Sure they wanted to save her life, but would they if they knew her death was the reason they met?

I personally prefer crime scene and the great escape more as a theme, here it's like a stiff improve acting class and the line between drama and variety shows blurslike the ending credit with their real goofey self was way better but this too was a new sort of theme so I did still like it, though I have to say their villains were the most obvious people xD
I especially like how sehun, sejung and minyoung were in this since they're not the usual faces seen around in varieties and it was really great to see them solve cases and show their smartness
I really want to see minyoung and song jihyo act as villains tbh, I feel like they can pull off the deadly assassin character welll

the story was slightly more biased on the male lead, it was his story, his family, his survive story, BUT they gave the female lead the screen time and development she deserved.
there were times she'd put his wounds/worries 1st, but then as a realistic person, she'd still feel overwhelmed and slightly selfish. plus Im Yoon Ah's crying face was comedy GOLD! and adorable too! I think I liked her in The King in Love, but this made me love her❤
I didn't like Yong Nam's slight tantrums, but it did add to his character xD
I loved the family in this, the story shows Yong Nam as a jobless "loser", and he felt disconnected from his "perfect" family with their perfect husbands and perfect children but the 1st moment he was in danger the worry and fear from his family was heartwarming..
especially the dad made me tear up ^^ tbh I'm deducting 0.5 from the plot because I wanted more! I wanted them to show an ending scene where Yong Nam and Eui Joo around his family laughing and having fun!
the flow of the story was nice, it had suspense and desperation without losing hope, and tbh there were times I thought they'd die, even though in most movies the heroes don't die..
I also really loved how they used technology in this movie! we are in a digital world, and everyone has a phone, so it was the small touches like the phones ringing in the street as a sign of people looking for their loved ones becasue there are other people effected in this beside the 2 mains. also the drones, the mukbangs, the sns and the whole community behind it was really well represented.
the ost and audio were nice and I never rewatch stuff, but I will recommend this to my friends~

This needed 6eps maxFinishing this drama left a bigger gap than the drama, things were answered but those were already obvious what was left unanswered was more important
Adding the two new ppl at the end they’re saying “many people have past connections”
So these two new ppl are also past lovers that found each other again but who cares xD
What happened to their son, the mother in law, what will their connections be? Friends? Siblings?
As for haesuk and nakjun, she lived a full life, rich, kids, and all, then she died again and he comes for her, this time they can spend their life in heaven without any regrets and attachments
On the other hand, their connection of saying married couples reincarnate as parents kids was so icky…
Your kid is your next life’s spouse…. Your little baby, comes back as your husband or wife……….
Also, 23 times coming back as a married couple, but every time back in heaven and they don’t remember, so why did she recognize him
On the other hand, they showed the past lives connection for the MIL but not for her son or hers and her husband’s, we should’ve seen the past connections
Unless they’d say her husband was her son and his mom was his wife…………
halfway through and it’s already repetitive and has zero future “anticipation”
Like yeah fine, who is somi, but like does that deserve 12 episodes?
Especially since the first two theories are basically it
Tbh the dog stories are borrrriiinnng and unnecessary long, even mom said to skip it and she rarely skips
animals turning into humans is just ridiculous and they’d get therapy while the humans are ignored
I mean if this is heaven and beyond, they should’ve had ppl have different pets like dogs choosing to be wolves and cats becoming tigers
Birds becoming eagles, fish becoming sharks
Anyways the hate on mils is also ridiculous and double standards, why not hate the wife’s mom too make it fair
What’s the problem of her wanting to visit her son’s house?
was her biggest issue that the mil gave her the fish head? i mean it's petty, cuz if you want to give your son the best, buy 2 fishes and give both the best piece...
but still, it's hardly abuse..
lol her mother in law was her daughter in law in another life and she harassed her first
Haesuk made her dil kill herself, then got sulky her mil gave her the fish head
So my theories were the most basic one
I’ll be disappointed if it’s true (which it was)
Haesuk and somi are one, and they’re the mom of the pastor and this is a double test
I’m also guessing haesuk wanted her mother in law’s help with the kid cuz the husband got hurt but the mil abandoned the kid
Cuz it doesn’t make sense for haesuk to spend so much time with the pastor if he’s just “somi’s son” and it also doesn’t make sense for somi to spend so much quality time with “haesuk’s husband”
The pastor needs healing with his mom not any old lady
Ok 2nd theory
Somi is haesuk’s husbands first wife and the mom of the pastor, and Haesuk abandoned the kid after Somi died?
Somi is haesuk’s “youth and memories” she lost
Calling for the same son, Somi thinks he was harming her
But he was trying to buy back infos and his son
And he wasn’t strangling her but he was trying to save her cuz she was trying to kill herself
Now that Somi is lashing out, he’s not angry like he was with the detective but he’s confused and scared, and they didn’t show his face when haesuk said she never had kids, he also keeps looking sadly at her
One could think he stole the kid for haesuk, but the pastor quality time, him thinking she’s his mom, the same kid name, the husband saving Somi
She can’t be an old wife or past life or a victim as she was going to hell
Also I’d guess his accident is “her fault”

that little girl carried this whole movie! jingoo of course did a great job but the little smiles, the pouts and the tears of that baby were so PRECIOUS! I don't usually applaud the directors but the credit does go to the directors here too. they captured the emotions so well. whenever they zoomed in on her precious little hand trying to find her way, her little precious breathing sounds, the subtle signs of connection between them and the way she gradually opened up and they became a "family", it was all just so beautiful! TT_TT
these kinds of plots happened often. "cold" tortured guy who's after money and the precious lost baby and that can be a cheap plot move, but the vulnerability of them was so loud and clear here
Jae Shik had nothing in his life and Eun Hye had no one, though the money seemed to spark Jae Shik's motivation, from the moment he saw her it was like he saw himself, lost and alone that he couldn't leave her
the journey starts simple, he wants to pretend she's his daughter but the plot moves right away when he finds out she has nothing he can take so he again looks for another option which leads to a different tone of journey when they go to the country side to search for her mother's aunt, and that kinda turns into a cute little camping trip where they meet new people on the way
the movie did end with alot of questions unanswered, I mean he did kinda "kidnap" her, just because she had no one to report her didn't change it.
though they did show that scene with the dad that implied he really didn't want her and was "selling" her away to Jae Shik, I'm even surprised he could walk into the orphanage and give her away when he had no legal right on her.
in the end, with the subtle hints of romance with Yeon Joo and the youtube vid, I like to think their bond touched people and they help them out and they might even start a movement to get her illness more noticed. that scene where the center's principle was so detached on the subject of "she can take classes for deaf and blind courses" and he was like but she can't see or hear! and that lady didn't even try to come up with a solution (or ask when his relationship with her was xD)
this is the most wholesome movie I watched in a long time though❣ I went in with no expectations, I mean movies with kids are usually heartwarming and this was so emotinal TT_TT
all in all, I cried, I smiled and I CRIED at that ending scene ;( I wanted more
that little baby looks so much like Kim Hae Sook xD
my favorite parts were, the rain scene! how sweet was that!, when he grabbed her hand! when she smiled knowing his back home but then pouted when he didn't show her that he's home uwu and her crying scene was 100000%

Jung Yup is unlike the usual "heroes" in a story like this, he was sloppy, he was worried about his own life, at 1st he didn't think about the kids but just his job, so that kinda gave it a nice approach. he wasn't a hotshot smart capable lawyer everyone listened to.he was so sloppy he was the easiest adult the kids could approach ;(
everyone thinks "it's non of my business" or "someone else will interfere" and honestly that's the most heartbreaking part ;(
I thought if child services got involved they'd have the full authority to take the kids away from abusive parents.. if neighbors don't talk, if cops can't arrest abusers, if there's no punishment by law, then who protects those kids!
at the end of the movie they wrote "usually they get off with a warning or a fine", so unless kids DIE, NO ONE helps them!
and honestly only 16 years.. how was that ruled accidental death? it wasn't planned murder, but an adult hitting a 6 year old that severely is a murderer!
if dabinie was younger she'd have died too, her parents were worst than serial killers.. I'm glad they didn't charge Jung Yup with kidnapping ;(
it makes you wonder though, they found evidence, they got lucky, but what if they couldn't prove it? "she's lying", "there's no eyewitnesses", or even worse if the parents were rich or with a psychopathic lawyer, they'd have walked free..
I wish they showed the neighbors stepping in, or anything to say those people were responsible too. sure cops wouldn't do anything, but atleast just call...
what a cruel world we live in.. even if we see parents spanking their kids in public or yell at them we think "it's their kid, we can't do anything"
when I read the synopsis, and saw how her brother was supposedly a "ill-mannered" kid, I thought the sister was going to kill him so the step mom stops getting angry, tbh that'd have been scarier/more heartbreaking.
so even if this was based on a true story, it has been done before but it still made me cry. the directing though felt off.
I wonder what happened though, was she adopted by the lawyer? by his sister? or was she in an orphanage?
oh yeah, Jang Ho was such a charming little boy and a total scene stealer. he looked like any other happy kid but he was really caring, he worried for dabin and he was a big help in everything! such a precious baby!

this was pure happiness delight~ exo eating, laughing and having fun! I wish they'd do more things like this, even if some of the members are gone to the army..
they could even go on trips in groups of 2, the cc part was a good way to focus on the 2 members..
overall it's like 10 full 1 hour eps so it's easy to rewatch again as well~

one of the best 2019 drama
I think people (including me) started expecting more of this drama because it was something new and never seen before. The promise of the story itself opened so many options about how the drama was going to unfold, and as I started theorizing, it kinda made me disappointed when they didn't happen. (this also happens to me when I watch crime dramas that hide their main criminal, I start expecting something that's just basically "my version of a story".)Basically that's why I tried to minimize MY writing/interpretation of this drama and I just tried to watch the drama's version of events. that became harder when the drama started it's last chapter, mainly because I'm an overanalyzer and things were too clear that I even fell for the writer's trap at one point xD
IF I wrote this drama I would've done it differently, but that doesn't mean the original writer's version was bad. this also goes for the characters, but seeing the end made me accept that "this" danoh, "this" haru and "this" school were made for "this" story.
I don't want to make this review long, though this might be my longest review to date, and I don't want to add spoilers, so I'll try to summarize the next part ;)
the acting were really perfect for "this" story, I already knew most of these young actors, and I'll keep an eye out for their next projects ;)
for the OST, I have to say I really loved how each character had their own little theme song, I need to find A3's song and make it my ringtone xD
my rewatch values are either a 1 or 10, and now that I've seen the ending I really want to watch the drama with a different view point ;)

the whole drama was built on 7 years of misunderstandings and miscommunication that by the last ep everyone was crying "I'm sorry I didn't say it before" and it was over ;/
their 1st meeting he was walking around with a bag of underwear (becasue he's a ceo in an underwear company) and the fl thought "omg pervert" ;/
what I hated the worse was how dumb they made the fl be like "omg you have a twin that sounds just like you" because the ml wore suits at work and sweats at home ;/
and it got worse when the ml thought that dumb conclusion made the fl "pure" and he liked her more for it ;/
then they added the 2nd guy and his pathetic love line built on -you guessed it- misunderstandings. he didn't hear the girl and he went on a one man pity party until later he found out he was wrong ;/

“Don’t become too muscular or men won’t like you”, “don’t eat and gain weight or men won’t like you”“I’m punishing myself by eating fried chicken”, “don’t wear baggy clothes or you’ll end up filling it”
if you don’t have a healthy relationship between yourself, food, exercise and health, it won’t last and you won't find happiness by just reaching that
she loses weight in the second/third ep, but she's still not happy or satisfied, she became a size small and yet what she wants to be xsmall?
her confidence shakes too much by her shallow bully coworker, she wants a v shaped face, s line, xsmall, 40kg, honestly the korean beauty standard won't be reached just cuz you reached a weight category
that dress did not “sparkle” again anywhere else, shaming a woman for wanting to eat, then shaming men for being skinny, and him saying she wanted to dress in “kids size” then still not let her eat…
Also calling the restaurant owner “you’re a pig for thinking they’re anchovies” when she was just talking about their food, that dude is too self centered
At one point also, he’s like super dumb and it can become cute but he’s like a brick wall with a cute smile
Atleast fl shows signs of change but he’s just so comical
zero romance/ chemistry between the characters
They had better chemistry in the pre release vids
A breakup draggingness, when they never even dated till ep11? a healthy drama that preached wrong health facts and a romance drama with no chemistry and no attempts to actually date until the end when suddenly he's like "ah it wasn't tokkbokki that i liked it was here"? and a comedy genre that wasn't funny ;/

my initial rating was 9, went to 7, went to 8, then ended at 5
it felt like a story inside of extraordinary you, totally "scripted", overly fantasy, bright, dreamy, with zero intellectual depth. one would say, it's a drama ofc it's scripted, but that's why mdl reviews need a "plot development" rating as wellas the story goes on, for a time traveling plot, one might be pleasantly surprised by the early twists and think, wow this is so well thought out, but reaching the halfway mark, and one starts to wonder, why is everything going in a spiral, new developments, but never any resolution
im sol, as a time traveler, was really really not smart. she never thought logically, and she was not really a teen to no think a bit more.
her first answer to anything was to run away, first cuz she didn't think she was good enough for him, then she thought he got swayed by her love and deluded himself into loving her, later she worried their love was the reason for his misfortunes...
so even when she could tell him about her truth, she still didn't think...
Some aspects are so frustrating, like both like each other but both act distant and cold
As if the writer controls them so they can’t be true to themselves, and later with their last plotmove, of making him forget her, she wonders why he's so cold when he was always a bright sweet person... did she have the amnesia as well? cuz literally he was cold to her from the start
Like her awkward “I’m not spending the night with you” just to see the bar sign two seconds later, just because it’s outside the shot doesn’t mean she couldn’t see it
or her saying "yes i'll stay the night" just to realize he wasn't talking to her... or him saying "so pretty" then say "i wasn't talking to you"
like he was happy she was there, and heard she wants to stay, yet he was the one who kept trying to make her leave
And every time he smiles outside the shot then acts cold in front of her
i hate that push and pull, cuz it's not cute flirting, it's bringing one down and embarrassing them, just so the confession looks sweeter
and it was fine for 18 year olds, but not for 34 year olds..
Like yeah sure he’s hurt about her young vr being so cruel to him and that also adds, if she didn’t love him as an idol she wouldn’t have cared for him as a guy and she’d have rejected him, so this drama wasn't about saving his life but about making sol stop being a self centered cringe fest to finally seeing the guy infront of her xD
but he’s not a teen anymore, again sure “being broken hearted and finding his true love” made him not date anyone even as a 30year old, but he doesn’t need to act like a kid, sure his pure hearted ness is cute but his coldness is such a kids behavior
This is what I like about this drama, it’s not just going back and fixing one or two things
It has consequences, unexpected elements and good back and forth that became too much by the end
Tho I do feel a bit of unfortunate lack of depth in character and friendships and connections but it doesn’t overshadow the good flow
I’m sensing a bit of the movie A Day from the taxi driver, but they never explained or explored it? literally no answers, he was just a random dude who randomly liked to kill random ppl and sungjae/sol were just some random ppl that randomly crossed his path?
Going back to a changed future is a cute touch and fun especially seeing sungjae is the same as always
Tbh I feel like sol accepting him as a friend and telling him to stay by her side would be sweet, cuz he’s not a creep and he can just approach her as if she doesn’t remember him and just be friends, but instead they had a whole reset, to "naturally" keep them away,,
They’re like dumb and dumber, solah as a teen was a handful, and not the cute na hido type
She was mean to her mom, she was clingy af, kinda like some day or one day’s young vr, you just can’t like her
Then comes her old self and some scenes it’s like she just freezes or faints, for the convenience of the writer
And sure he’s cute but he’ll also too obsessed about her, I don’t see them working out as teens, so at least not really meeting in the past saved him alot of cringe and heartache
The thing twinkling watermelon had that this doesn’t is the great characters, bonds and feeling of youth
Here the bro and fl friend are a snooze, the taxi thing is frustrating, his feelings are creepy and I now don’t like the “sol was the first love” it’s like now she only likes him cuz of his idolness rather than him as a person
Ironically if this drama didn’t have that ridiculous mystery element and just stayed as a time traveling romance drama where their worst struggle was her not being able to tell him anything and each thing she changed by being in the past made a new future, like anytime she changed the future, he dies, so ofc the answer would be keeping memories as memories and not meeting in the past so he can live
and I do have to say this, 34 year old sol, no matter how naive, kissing 18 year old sungjae, and the whole past romance parts, was eeeeewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
Was this review helpful to you?
That said, it was also best to let it be a drama instead because as a movie it was too linear
But it was exactly what I needed, no angst, no hate, no rivalry, no love triangle, no betrayals, no conflict
Just easy breezy love, love for friends, love for dance, love for family, and a love of youth
Even the teachers were cute

like they put luxury aquariums for num1 and a flying restaurant for num2 but they were just meh. and so I think the show's weak point is hoping for extreme concepts people would think "that doesn't exist" while it seems many actual businesses keep it calm if not a little overboard
just like the great escape the production companies need to keep and sell their businesses xD like the idea of building something from scratch in a few weeks is not that crazy if they just hire an architectural company and give them enough money so they work fast xD
overall though the dynamics were really fresh, variety shows are rarely female based and yu jae suk is the ideal guy to not only handle their jokes but also help them shine more. that's why yu jae suk is the national mc, he's really sweet and caring. I really hope for s2 with the same cast
