it's not that the soul taker doesnt exist in the novel, it has just change the name and the drama make the sect more big deal...if i remember the novel didnt actually said who own the sect. and the reason they killed the han family was because they were ordered by Qin and Shang family which is they also taking an order from a guy who is asking for the hand of a daughter of a king(and the reason they do it is kinda random)...and that's when new scene have change, the Duan huan sect/soul taker is nowhere to be found. then the rest are royal fights...The novel is really a fast pased(the long part was the battles) and have some abandoned character too, so the drama is really more appealing to me and the novel would be really short if they follow it. but i hope they wont add too much(and made some character i like to be bad)...cus im enjoying how it work rn.
