She is of Uyghur ethnicity, one of the 50+ ethnic groups that make up China. Being Chinese is not an ethnicity.

Being Chinese is not an ethnicity. Chinese simply refers to China as a state or civilization. Within China, there are 55+ ethnicities classified by culture or origin.

I'm Zhuang Chinese. Hankiz Omar is Uyghur Chinese. Ma Tian Yu is Hui Chinese. Yang Yang is Han Chinese. A few examples to show you that it is not difficult :)
