I get it, I don't have problems with the logic, of course you are not mature if you just hatched, but it's not my cup of tea. I prefer more mature characters who still can grow. I didn't knew the story before, that's why I had different expectations.

Why judging if people watch it for the hype? Of course people have expectations. I waited very long for Story of Kunning palace and loved it. I also waited for TLI and it didn't meet my expectations. I like Xianxia (TTEOTM or BFTB) but I don't like cliche Xianxia, where the FL is childish and dumb. I get it, people want character growth, but it bothers me that people think character growth can only be for people who start childish.

You should try it yourself. Its like almost every Xianxia, no breaking the cliches, female lead is little bit childish but in this drama the male lead is also chaotic. I get it that people want character growth, but it bothers me that the protagonists always start out childish. I'm not hooked, I try some more episodes, if I don't change my mind I'll drop it.

I didn't watch ALP, but since it is a sequel it's normal for fans to have expectations. Noone would say anything if it was a standalone drama, but they decided to make it a sequel.

You should take a look in the recommendations section. If you are looking for a morally gray, manipulative and obsessive MC you should try Twisted fate of love. I would recommend you to watch Love like the galaxy and Long ballad too, but their MCs are good guys compared to Xie Wei.
